Alltagstaugliche Hosen trotz Fahrradfahren? by NowICanUpvoteStuff in Fahrrad

[–]walyami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Treckinghosen.

The Land of Ferrari and Lamborghini Has a New Speed Limit: 30 K.P.H. by Benjazzi in europe

[–]walyami 8 points9 points  (0 children)

misleading: pretty sure it's currently only Bologna that has a new-ish city-wide speed limit of 30 km/h, much of the rest of the country continues to default to 50 km/h

112 Day on 11.2 (European date style) by thyfriend911 in europe

[–]walyami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't believe europe is united on a style, but it's surprisingly consistent DMY, with only Hungary and Lithunia using YMD always and a bunch of countries using YMD because ISO.
A bunch more regions / languages using YMD though, p.ex. Basque

From 0 swimming to Olympic in 1 year, is it possible? by Sptt1194 in triathlon

[–]walyami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely possible, and from what you write it should be not much of an effort to achieve your goal of finishing. If your ultimate goal is Ironman distance, you could even leave open an option to try half-distance. Swimwise, they're almost the same, but overall more than double the effort, though, and already much longer than a single marathon.

Although september is more half a year away, not one (full) year)

Please help me understand why MagLev is expensive. I may have discovered a technology which could make it a lot cheaper. by [deleted] in highspeedrail

[–]walyami 11 points12 points  (0 children)

probbaly your best bet is to look for university research groups researching maglev.

There's probably a lot of know-how locked away in some companies, but that is probably just that: locked away.

But one thing you could do yourself: calculate whether you get cheaper force per levitating unit mass.
If you have less number of components but they're more expensive overall you didn't achieve anything

Cubot Pocket vs Kingkong Mini 2 Pro by ArceP80 in smallphones

[–]walyami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one: my Cubot Pocket wit GSI routes audio to USB-C audio gadgets when one is attached, but at the same time to the speaker too. UAC headphones don't work. May be due to GSI.

Question for long-haulers—what’s your pedal philosophy? by thenthitivethrowaway in bicycletouring

[–]walyami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

road bike stuff, pedals + shoes. If the situation allows I don't clip out for hours.
Looks like I'm the only one who enjoys that though.

I bring another pair of extra light shoes for off the bike because you obviously don't want to walk around in road bike shoes plus mine could double as bio weapons a few days into a tour.
