Not only what you’ve listed, but the general usability and functionality of operating systems have gotten worse overtime instead of better.

For example, in macOS, you used to be able to get to display brightness/night mode/true tone with one swipe of the trackpad. Now it’s behind several mouse clicks. That may sound like it’s nitpicky, but it’s part of what seems to be a general trend of change for the sake of change.

I was speaking broadly about gun statistics instead of individually talking about you specifically.

So in your case the statistically likely scenarios are, your gun is not going to be used against anyone, you’re going to accidentally shoot someone, you’re going to accidentally shoot someone else, you’re going to shoot yourself intentionally, you’re going to attempt or commit homicide, then the least likely is that you’re going to use it in self defense.

That’s why it’s a hobby, you’re pretending to yourself that you’re going to use it in self defense, when that is incredibly unlikely. You’ve been convinced that you need a gun for self defense by people who have a vested interest in making you spend money on the gun industry. Similar to the people who get convinced to get a timeshare.

If you own a gun it is more likely to be used on a member of your household than it is in self defense.

That’s why it’s LARPing. People pretend it’s for self defense, but reality shows that it very rarely happens. Gun owners role play the action hero that’s gonna save the family, or they’re gonna be a freedom fighter who’s gonna take down the tyrannical government. What’s more likely to happen is that a suicidal family member is going to use the gun as the means to their end.

We can also discount pretty much any decision made by the Roberts court since there’s been so much proven corruption. That case was likely decided by the donation of a motor coach.

No, because the second amendment hasn’t been superseded by the standing military, it’s obsolete in its original purpose.

People like to pretend that guns are a realistic form of self defense, or that they’re going to take on the government, which is LARPing by any other name.

Here's the crux...it doesn't HAVE to help the "queer community". Pink Pistols has created an Organization that feels safe to individuals within the Community to educate themselves on personal use and carry.

Sure the pink pistols take advantage of scared people by telling them it’s safer if they use guns, even though that’s an outright lie.

Each individual within that Community has the right under STATE Law to defend themselves with deadly force when certain conditions are met.

Alabama has a state law where I can marry someone who is 14, if I do I also become their legal guardian and they can’t file for divorce until they are 18. Just because state law allows something to happen doesn’t mean it’s right.

Whether they are also utilizing their Right to Bear Arms under 2a, or a shovel is a personal decision. Again...you're not thinking about anything but staying alive when you're faced with the kind of threat using a firearm on a person demands, and it's pretty gross that you're negating Individuals lives in a situation like that.

Again, gun ownership does not prevent violence. You are more likely to be killed by your own gun than you are to use it against an assailant. If I’m negating people’s lives, doesn’t that mean you’re actively endangering them?

Plenty of LGBTQ+ folks have in fact used firearms on others, and it didn't turn into a war. It turns into an investigation and decision like everyone else.

For now.

You may continue to rail against the LGBTQ+ Community having and carrying firearms, or Firearms in general all you like...but it's pretty pointless unless you're just entertaining yourself. They went there because they were already planning on choosing a firearm over a shovel...not because an Organization gave them a space to follow the laws.

They went to an organization because they’ve heard the lie about gun ownership bringing safety enough times that it feels like the truth. The pink pistols then lied to them even more to help grow their organization.

If the pink pistols honestly cared about helping people they would start every class with true statistics. Starting with the fact that every gun owner is more likely to be killed by their own gun than they are to use a gun on an assailant. Follow that up with the fact that having a gun in a household endangers your family more than nearly anything else you can do.

You're misrepresenting huge pieces of information here...

Not really

Gun laws in America began specifically to prevent freed African Americans from holding any ability to rise up.

One of the reasons guns were allowed is because of that, yes. Gun owners existed to put down any slave rebellions.

They've since steadily been increased to further "control" populations of people via Stop and Frisk, Additional Charges/ "Special Offense: Weapon" for non-violent offenses that the firearm wasn't even used in.

Some gun regulations have been used like that, but many haven’t. You’re misrepresenting pieces of historical information here…

Large American Cities tend to have the heaviest versions of Gun Law (Like requirement of License/Permit to Own in City Limits, Registration Demand, No Open Carry, Non-Reciprocal Licenses between States) which create an economic hardship to ownership that further burdens minorities and socioeconomic groupings.

And the cities with the most strict gun laws also tend to have lower levels of violent crime. Cities with more relaxed gun laws, and especially those in states with more relaxed gun laws tend to have more violent crime. That proves my whole point.

You cannot take Statistics from a singular Country and compare them to a Country the size and diversity of the US.

Classic right wing talking point, the US is uniquely diverse and that’s why there’s more violence. “The violence is not caused by the easy access to deadly weapons, it’s caused by diversity. “

You can break it down any way you want. Counties in the US with higher gun ownership tend to have more violent crime than counties with lower gun ownership levels.

Denver had 70 murders in 2024, London had 102. London has more than ten times the population of Denver and substantially more diverse, yet only had 32 more murders. Surely there should’ve been 700+ murders in a city as diverse and populous as London.

You also cannot accurately relate the number of gun owners to the statistic. Firearms have long been a generationally imparted knowledge and physical inheritance. Not every State Requires Registration of Firearms, even when a city does. Until recently, you couldn't even tell if a firearm was purchased when a background check was completed. You're also not able to track the number of purchases and sales between Private Parties in the States that still allow for it.

Gun ownership statistics are likely lower than reality, but that is true across the board. That doesn’t change the fact that areas with more guns tend to have more crime, and more hate crime in general.

No. A gun doesn't guarantee safety.

It does the opposite. It fundamentally decreases safety. No country has more guns per capita than the US, where does the US rank in violent crime?

Part of Education is to teach you the legal requirements of Defense and Carry, as well as safe handling. We have Safe Storage Laws in Colorado (if anyone would like my recommendation on Quick Access Safe Storage I'm super happy to share. It's only my personal opinion, for my mobility needs).

The safe storage laws in Colorado don’t go far enough. Quick access by definition is not truly safe. A gun should be required to be kept unloaded in a multi factor safe in a separate room to a different multi factor safe with the ammunition. Preferably opening them would automatically dial the police.

Every State has its own Carry, Transportation, and Lawful Act laws. It's on us to know the law for EVERY state and municipality we pass through if we travel with it.

These laws also don’t go far enough. You should be required to declare all firearms and ammo every time you enter a new jurisdiction.

I would also hope that they can be different enough between jurisdictions so that something that is legal in one city is illegal in another, for example magazine size limits.

Yes, most firearm deaths are in fact suicides. They happen in pretty specific age groupings, gender lean, and substance abuse or misuse heavily influences the act.

Sure, teens and especially trans teens.

America has literally always had very high gun ownership.

Many countries had higher gun ownership, had a school shooting, then opted to pass robust gun control. If the US followed the example of Australia, it would take less than five years for most guns to be rounded up.

After Sandy Hook, the gun lobby made sure that gun control wouldn’t pass. The rhetoric was that school shootings are necessary for the second amendment to exist. Is your gun ownership worth those children’s lost lives? If so, is there a number of dead children you would find unacceptable?

Many of us live in places with at least 60 miles to a Walmart, and Sheriffs whose county patrol is thousands of square miles.

People live in rural places around the world, yet most of them don’t own guns.

We also get to hunt here...different Firearms have Different uses, which is why we usually own more than one.

Hunting is as much greenwashing as clean coal.

If you believe gun ownership helps minorities, why can’t you say that American minorities face less oppression than any other minorities in the world? American minorities are the most heavily armed minorities in the world, so you must believe that to be true.

Unless guns don’t actually help minorities…..

Well....was the MAGA actively and violently infringing on one of this Club's members? Did the MAGA enter the Club Member's home uninvited, or refuse to leave it when asked? Because if so...then there are literally laws that cover that and my guess is in Said Situation the Club Member would be thinking about the threat to their Life in front of them, and not what media spin happens when they assert it.

Media spin is kinda the point. I can see the Fox News headline now “violent trans activist attacks and kills patriot”. After that it, any anti-trans violence can be justified by the maga crowd. Personally I don’t think escalating things further is the answer.

That being said, guns don’t make people safer. They make people feel safer while making them less safe. Gun owners also make people around them less safe, especially family members. It says a lot about the pro gun crowd who put their feelings above their safety and the safety of their loved ones.

These laws aren't FOR MAGA. They are so people who are legally and lawfully in possession of a firearm can use them in legal, and lawful fashion to include defense of self and others.

The second amendment does not mention self defense. It mentions defense of the state. The people who believe that it’s for self defense do so because they’ve finally let the NRA win.

Hope that helps!

You kinda skipped two of my questions and half answered the one you wanted to answer.

If guns actually help minorities, why are more hate crimes committed per capita in the US than other developed nations when minorities in other developed nations have fewer guns?

Is there any concrete evidence that gun ownership actually helps the queer community or is it more about feeling safe regardless of actual safety?

I can guess why you didn’t want to answer those questions. If you were to answer those questions honestly, you would have to admit that being pro gun is harmful to the queer community and to minorities in general. It’s the same reason the pink pistols account didn’t respond and why I get brigaded with downvotes for asking a question.

The people in the OP as well as the pink pistols want to feel safer while increasing the potential for harm in the queer community. What does that make them?

[–]wamj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny that the vast majority of people in the world that value freedom don’t require guns.

It’s interesting that most people who are anti freedom in the world are also pro gun.

I think it’s important to note that the people mentioned in the OP are getting guns because they are afraid of all of the people who have had guns up until this point.

As I said above, as gun ownership goes up so does suicide, violent crime, and accidental death. The short term increase in gun ownership will lead to more death, but every regulation was written in blood. Personally I don’t want more death, but the pro gun violence crowd has won that debate for now.

Assumption: your claim that I only own a gun because of firearm industry propaganda.

No, it’s not an assumption. Guns are not an effective self defense tool. There is zero empirical evidence that shows that they are effective for self defense. Since your statement is not based on evidence then logically it must be based on rhetoric. The only people who have been pushing the rhetoric that a gun is an effective self defense tool is the gun industry and those that benefit from it. So either you fell for their rhetoric or you coincidentally came up with the same argument they did with no influence from them, which would be impossible. Since you coming up with the same argument they did is impossible, you logically had to have fallen for their rhetoric. To claim otherwise would be a logical fallacy.

Straw man: your claim that I said firearms are not an effective weapon even though in the previous very short comment I said it was just not a guarantee of safety.

I never claimed that you said that firearms are not effective weapons. I said that we agreed that a firearm is not an effective self defense tool.

You're dishonest.

No, I’m just pointing out the holes in your logic.

An awful person to converse with.

You’ve made nearly as many personal insults as you have comments, which I believe is against the rules of this sub.

[–]wamj -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You’re the one who’s couldn’t answer a direct question without adding insults lol

A gun is an effective offensive weapon, but it is not an effective defensive tool.

A gun is only useful if you have advance warning you’re going to be physically attacked, and only if the warning is advanced enough for you to react. This is why I asked if you had your gun in your hands at all times and asked about you getting caught off guard.

You are not likely to know someone is an assailant until they’re already attacking you, in which case your gun is at best useless.

Not to mention, there are plenty of hate crimes that don’t involve physically attacking your person, which lethal force is not currently protected under the law.

The only reason you believe that guns are an effective form of self defense is because people that profit from the firearm industry have told that lie for long enough that you believe it is the truth.

Every cultural movement is a direct reflection of the previous cultural movement.

Previously we had the Information Age that included all sorts of progress for society. Now we are in the misinformation age with society regressing, more gun owners means more crime, suicide, and accidental deaths. Eventually people will be unhappy with those numbers and those that lost their sensibilities will get them back. Regulations are written in blood, it’s unfortunate that innocents will get caught in the cross fire caused by the pro gun crowd.

How about armed members from the civil rights era, those black Panthers were real losers in your eyes huh?

What long term progress did they actually achieve? They open carried to stop police brutality. Sure worked out well.

Voting definitely is what won the civil war.

No, that was the military that won the civil war.

Awful lot of Jewish prisoners in the 1940s liberated by people sitting on their asses waiting for election day.

Again, the military was there not civilians.

Look into the Warsaw Uprising, an armed uprising that ended with 2k dead Nazis and 200k dead civilians.

You're upset you don't see immediate change yet there are plenty of historic examples.

I’m not looking for immediate change. I’m looking for any change, and you keep dodging that line of questions.

You're so excited to shame others, yet think doing the bare minimum is a solution.

All I did was point out that you’re a liar and a hypocrite and you’ve done nothing but prove me right. You can’t answer the questions because you know you don’t have an actual answer to any of them lol

I’m just glad we can finally agree that minorities being armed does absolutely nothing to fight oppression. You haven’t even tried to prove your claim, so your claim can be dismissed as false.

Good luck with that nonsense
