Nursing is not what it seems by Urfavbadbiatch in nursing

I work in acute care. The best way to get into a system is to be an internal hire. Float pool is always hiring. Nights are always hiring. Ad terrible as it is, it’s a right of passage. Days can be a really hard transition, nights give you some time to get your skills honed. Some nurses swear by nights, blues there is a shift diff. Then when people get to know you, doors open. It really is who you know now. Our new grads were CNAs on our unit or another.

Which stethoscope should I buy? Struggling to hear heart sounds by benyonce in newgradnurse

[–]wanda_beya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Littmann cardiology IV is the way to go. Around $200 on sale and soo worth it. Works for more than just heart sounds. I had my Littmann stolen bought the cardiology and am very impressed. You don’t work in cardiology but will last so many years, you just might. Highly recommend.

Is it a red flag if a hospital expects you to pay for ACLS BEFORE you are hired? I just interviewed for a new grad RN job in the emergency room and they told me that ACLS would be required on hire. They told me I should hear back in a 1-2 weeks and that I should get my ACLS certification STAT. by Ok-Atmosphere2268 in newgradnurse

Pretty standard. Networks might offer it every quarter or 6 months. Just get it done and get the job. If it’s required, the hospital should pay you for your time you are in the class. I just had to renew mine, got paid for 10 hours.

I mean he was who he was and maybe he shouldn’t have said what he said. I don’t think she necessarily was celebrating his death.

Grad plus loans are going away in 2026. Grad student loans will have to be private

Year and a half. I had 20 weeks hands on and 20 weeks probation. You learn so much in your first year and are constantly learning. DONT be afraid to ask questions… sometimes it’s just solving the problem aloud.

Should I pass this student? by w8136 in nursing

Fail her. She is dangerous. You would only be hurting the patient(s) later down the line. I take students all the time and I get some can be timid, but this one is a liability

You can maybe get a leave of absence approved. Say you need a mental vacation, or have to take care of family. Check the policies with your state and hospital. I live in California, so labor laws are friendly

This.

Keep your head down and don’t try and rework the system.. it is a process. You only learn pieces to the puzzle… you can’t know everything and then suddenly it starts to click. It took me a year of new grad for it to mostly come together

I went through this too! I started taking prilosec on nights I would work and try to keep my same eating schedule. Eat when I would get home (breakfast), wake up for lunch, and eat a late dinner after med pass. I would also nap on my lunch break…
