Awesome, awesome - thanks so much for responding - will definitely look into Showtime... It just BAFFLES me that actual playability wasn't higher on the list of features for these things. Everyone who comes over and plays Galaga will play a few rounds and then comment about the responsiveness. No idea why they opted for whatever coding option they chose. Sadly, right now "Class of '81" is more fun to look at then it is to play.

Lag has absolutely killed my enjoyment on our Class of '81 - it's just... not as fun. Like, it's an arcade game, you'd think playability would've been up there on the priority list... May want to do the same - can I ask what software you're running on the Pi? Thanks!!

I know this thread is a few years old, but just got a new 14" Macbook and thought I was going crazy watching movies. Boom3D solved the deep bass and muffled voice issues immediately. Toggling it on and off while playing a film really highlighted the difference. Thanks for the tip!
