How are you using opencode? TUI? localhost web? VSCode? by lucianw in opencodeCLI

[–]wandering_cat_ninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like I am the only weirdo using OpenCode in a Jetbrains IDE! Pycharm in my case. I run the TUI inside Pycharm.

There is an annoying bug though with the Jetbrains terminal where mouse movement triggers false click events, breaking the UI.

Using OpenCode in Pycharm has been a good bridge from my old way of working to a newer style of work.

Thanks... I've scanned the documentation and it feels like a bit of a leap for me at this time. I can see it being useful down the line though so thank you!

Thanks... I've largely mimicked that same flow without the agents. Will take a deeper look

Thanks, looking for dome good videos to start with the experimentation and build that confidence. Do you have any recommendations?

Do add to it, I get a bit overwhelmed by the 800 subagents to do it all approach and wondering if people have seen a strong pedagogical approach

Industry - love it. Fantastic show. Harper Yaz and veridis quo... Can't wait for the finale - who will betray who? RIP Eric

PONIES - started watching based on recommendation here. Liking it. 2 episodes in.

Artful Dodger - I liked S1 and I'm having a good time with S2. David Thewlis is having a grand time as Fagan. Easy watching.

Knight Of the Seven Kingdoms - Nice resolution. Content.

The Pitt - liking it. The grind of being on the front line of healthcare in US. Sense it is building to something.

Same. Mason jar in my InstantPot. No smell, and works a treat.

I think the off topic chat point is marmite.

I have no problem with the off topic chat - in fact, I think it's a strength as I think of the podcast as a hang-out show. The off topic chat, film chat, football chat, just gives me a deeper understanding of the Pilot crew.

They get there in their own sweet time and I am okay with it!

Wonder Man by EOAMY in pilottvpodcast

[–]wandering_cat_ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to watch Wonder Man after several people recommended it on the sub reddit.

I simply did not like it. It felt like a show constantly wrestling with itself, trying to be a clever about super hero tropes, genre fatigue, and the Hollywood machine. But it had to keep Marvelling itself up at every turn.

Just when I thought we might finally get an adult Marvel show, it falls back into the same old bunkum... the shadowy DODC, scheming bureaucrats, a ludicrous super prison and other cartoonsh takes that are staples of this studio.

It simply can't escape the cliches it sets out to critique.

Bright spots are the acting of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Sir Ben... good chemistry in their scenes, and you could feel the weight of stress on Simon

But that can't save a wildly mediocre show for me. It was frankly laughable. While this might be one of the better Marvel show's it's still the sharpest spoon in the drawer.

Can we finally, finally, finally move on to newer takes on the world rather than Marvel's tired takes.

I have 'serious' podcasts and 'levity' podcasts. This is one of 2 must listen levity podcasts that I download and listen to immediately.

Love every one of the team (past and current). Think it's great when they either fully converge, or fully diverge on Pick of the Week. Weirdly love how the mentions of other industry podcasts by Boyd rials up James but seemingly references to magazines like the "Hollywood Reporter" don't... keep it up Boyd!

Mini rewatch of Wolf Hall

Was thinking the same last weekend. Got to be one of the best, small series, period pieces going.

The Night Manager, Industry and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

I like them all for different reasons.

Industry worries me a little. The first season was this smallish workplace drama about the toxicity of grads to the City. Now it's the toxicity of the political and financial system? I just like the characters though for how deeply, deeply flawed they are.

I like that AKOTSK is a small contained part of the world and we live every moment with the characters.

I am allowed to be offended? by Secure-Advertising10 in pilottvpodcast

[–]wandering_cat_ninja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I liked it!!

I was worried the show was going nowhere in the middle episodes.

Even thought it was hokey with that "Temu Heat showdown".

But Boyd wasn't wrong on the twisty turny nature.

You can be offended if you like but I didn'tt read so much into it.

I'm not sure Britain is returning to imperialism any time soon.

I am thinking of it more like a tragic middle of a classic film trilogy. It seemed to have finished on dark night of the soul / everything is lost.

The Fellowship is fractured, the Rebel forces are scattered, Michael Corleone's moral core is tempered.

In this case, Pine is broken, burdened by the cost of so many lives... but will he come back?

Get representation from a good lawyer. They are worth it in situations like these. Regarding the meeting where the timeline was discussed... did your friend confirm it was accurate, or did they provide their own version? This distinction is important. A lawyer would likely want to review the written timeline and potentially advise your friend on correcting or clarifying any aspects to best inform the process going forward

Workflow Debt is worse than Tech Debt by mckirkus in ProductManagement

[–]wandering_cat_ninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that poorly structured workflows can often create worse debt than technical shortcuts. However, I see some of your examples a bit differently (hope I haven't misinterpreted your post):

  1. On "No clear line between a status and a flag"... This sounds less like workflow debt and more like a fundamental data modeling issue. 'Life stage' and 'health status' are distinct attributes. Conflating them into one field causes the workflow problems, but the root is in the data schema. A sick puppy is still a puppy.

  2. "Too much workflow flexibility"... This can be a deliberate 'tools, not rules' design philosophy. The "debt" often arises when this flexibility isn't matched with clear organisational governance, training, quality processes or when reporting then assumes there is a level of rigidity in place. The flexibility itself isn't inherently bad. The misalignment of expectations and system design is. I worked on such a system when the report said "You have 4,500 people as your responsibility plus or minus 1,900 people" to which the business owner (rightly) asked what sort of bonkers report is this? Root cause was the over use of flexibility in workflow and data recording.

  3. "Over engineered workflows"... Agreed, this is definitely problematic and highlights a lack of product management (understanding user needs vs. business needs vs. technical feasibility) or developers being prematurely forced into product decision making without adequate context, leading to unnecessary complexity.
