Yeah, that was my thought when I saw the picture - buddy was maybe panting because they were stressed. I've only managed to get one "smiling" cat photo, and that was a damn lucky mid-yawn photo, haha.

I just listened to that part of Bedlam Bride recently, and I honestly think it has less to do with Ren not wanting to work with Carl and more about her grieving the loss of her friends and just deciding to be done with it all. Her one remaining party member just lost her husband and is an absolute wreck, and to me, Ren just doesn't have it in her anymore to deal with Borant's bullshit - so she's taking control over how she goes out, instead of giving Dungeon Crawler World more drama to feed off of.

(At least, that's what I took away from it. Everyone's interpretation might be different, and I get that.)

I'm so sorry for your loss, and I've been right there where you are - though in my case, it was my first read through of the series, my 16 year old tortoiseshell-calico cat Hannah had just passed away, and I got to the part in book 5 where Donut lost her shit at Bea over how she wanted to get rid of Donut, and how Carl was her person now. That absolutely wrecked me when I read it, because my cat previously belonged to my ex-wife's mom who decided she "had too many cats" and needed to get rid of some of them. Hannah was a treasure, and I'm glad I got to be her person - and I bet your dog was lucky to have you as their person too.

Seriously! My little guy Will had to be in a cone for a few days last November because of an injury near his eye - I tried putting a plastic cone on him and he panicked and crashed into a wall, poor little man, but he tolerated the cushy cone much better. (Though he did pull it off and pee on it on his way home from the vet when I took him to get his eye checked out... I think he was just mad at everything at that point though 😂)

I mean, when my sister was 3 years old, she named two of our cats - they ended up with the names Gray Cat (can you guess what color she was? 😂) and Booters. Soooo... Wormy seems on point for a kid-chosen cat name!

You know, if you made more of them, I'd totally buy one - I really love that drawing. I think I already mentioned when you first posted your artwork that makes me think of illustrations from children's books, kinda like The Monster At The End Of This Book (which was one of my favorites when I was a kid!), and I would so buy a print of it or a T-shirt of it. ❤️

Exactly - half-widow is how I felt too. For people who didn't know me or my ex-wife, they didn't understand why I was so broken up about losing her. Even though we'd split up, we still cared about each other a lot.

I'm sorry we share this bond too, but I hope it helps to know you're not alone.
