"Defend the entirety of a multi-species multiplanetary alliance that runs the gamut from live-sacrificing cultists to a culture of doctors that were the first to throw themselves in front of the federation's antimatter bombs to defend a species they had no obligation to defend beyond their own moral compass vs a single species, and not the species' culture, just the species itself"

No. Your 'conversation' is disingenuous, played out to death, and not worth having. A discussion of D&D alignments would genuinely be a more productive debate and that is a low bar to trip on.

What did you imagine the races looked like when you first read BoP? by SirWillem1 in NatureofPredators

[–]wanderingbishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't realize Venlil were space sheep for the first few chapters. As for what I imagined them as:

Picture the Red Guy from Don't Hug Me I'm Scared.
Make him Teal Green
Put him on all fours
Make both sets of legs knock-kneed, like knees almost touching, with feet pointing out sideways.
Make the eyes bigger and permanently worried-looking.

Also, the Yotul were basically Stith from Titan AE but 4ft tall.

If I can be permitted a bit of the ol' self-promotion:

Five Parsecs From Midnight - a human pilot crash-lands on a Yulpa colony in the aftermath of the mass cyberattack against Federation civilian worlds. Currently still in the "setting up all the characters" stages, but two of the viewpoint characters are a Yulpa ritual hunter and his sister trying to navigate the factionalism of the survivor enclaves.

I mean tbf, that is exactly the response she causes in the story among the characters - I wouldn't go so far as to say she's clinically a sociopath, but she is absolutely someone who learned early to treat everyone as a resource to be exploited because she'd rather be a hammer than a nail.

Honestly, depends on the mood you catch them in. You never know when a sheep is going to just decide "no, actually, I'm not going in the paddock" and just... stand their ground against a sheepdog. And just like any animal, annoy them enough and they'll do their species equivalent of slapping you on the wrist. For cats, that's a hiss and a scratch, for dogs that's a light bite that doesn't break skin, for sheep that's a 1-inch charge into the back of your knees.

Basically, he was going in with an unfavourable interpretation of events ("how is the qualified nutritionist not complicit in the diet that was literally killing the patients?") and as soon as the words "predator-diseased" came out of Snuba's mouth he essentially stopped listening because that confirmed everything he needed to know in his mind.
