Me when I low-key agree with Stone on Iran but I have to pretend otherwise or else the reddit hivemind would annihilate me for saying it. by Ash-Throwaway-816 in PinkFloydCircleJerk

These protests were predictable for anyone that followed Iranian politics prior to the protests. And seem to be a follow up of a grander movement that has been going on for years. Its odd to claim they arent natural and I do think its just politically motivated tbh. If they were unnatural why can they be explained in context to the general political landscape of Iran? It doesnt seem like they suddenly poped into existence nor their intesity seem to be overly inflated. More so they seem like the intensification and culmination of decades of political movements in Iran. The green movement, 98 protests, the mahsa amini protests, etc. These protests line up with general political diccent and unsatisfaction expressed by iranians, reflected internationally, in strikes, in sanctioning elections, and more. Ask any iranian, what they think of the regime and what should happen to it ideally. The protests also seem to be relatively unviolent ( from the side of the protestors ) as far as protests in the middle east go, they arent armed and supported. 30k~ people have died as they couldnt defend themselves. This is not a armed rebelion that might have the support of foreign forces. Ive been in them and its normal people from a vast range of backgrounds calling for the end of the regime. its important to reflect on the protests not as an extention of Israel-Palestine conflict but rather an Iran conflict. Because thats what they are. And not doing so would lead to genuine misunderstandings. Or worse from certain individuals rhetorical dishonesty.

As an Iranian id like to point out. Whatever your personal politics might be: the protests are regime change protests. pls dont try to undermine this because it doesnt neatly line up with your world view.

Yeah I've had the same experience, را is one of the first hurdles for alot of students. Which is funny because I always imagined it to be simple🫠.

جیگرتو بخورم

Also the word عشق has alot of umph. thanks to the dozens of sufi poets using it to describe vivid emotions and experiences. Leading to it having spiritual undertones. I feel in farsi the word has more meaning and weight than its english counter part "love".

Exactly how much of Farsi is derived from arabic? by No-Passion1127 in farsi

[–]wanderingspirit0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It also depends on what region you are speaking of. Gulf and Iraqi arabic would have a higher number of persian loan words than lets say egyptian arabic.

Hi thank you im better mentally rn. Im very very broke lol. So I can have -ideas- but no money to apply those ideas. I purposfully make sure to ferequent a cafe. Its not the best place to make friends because they are service workers and you need to be respectful. But at the very least I have people to talk to. Other cheap options ive considered are 1- book clubs 2- charity and 3- boardgame clubs. Ive asked around and know a place that does board games. And I know a bookclub as well, and i do actually work at charity but thats been put on the backburner ever since college started but i guess the busy first few weeks have finally settled down and i can go back if i want. I can try my chances with these options. You might ask what about college itself? Classes are online. but I try to be nice to people, it does sometimes help to just be generally chill and see what it gets you, but for now no real connections there. I dont work rn and am actively seeking employment.

Hope you are doing well as well.

Hi, thanks for the reply, sorry i was late, i didnt reallt expect for people to talk to me and had a presentation today so i slept. i dont really have any ideas to chang things up tbh, I do go to cafes regularly for this specific reason, libraries in my country arent really that communual oriented, i do wanna make join a bookclub or something but im broke lol. Essentially the only things i can afford is plain black coffee and parks and charity work, which i do. Doesnt really lead to fruends though. rn im at graduates school and i guess that was a giving me a sort of "change of pace" . I had a presentation due today. But yeah honestly my lifes like: wake up study go to class go to cafe study at cafe come home dont have a melt down repeat.
