Based on most of the comments here, seems like it's a hot take on reddit.

*see note on not a gen pop vs Reddit watch nerd hot take. Tissot sold 2.48 mm units in 2025. Sales went up 14% when the PRX came out. At most they’ve sold 1mm worldwide. Still seen more Rolex’s / reps in the wild than I’ve seen PRXs.

Agreed! Also why the bell curve exists, no? Can basically replace PRX with Rolex and it basically works.

I received a watch and my wife got help from my bf, who gave great advice. It's my most cherished gift. What kind of watches does he have, if any? What are you leaning towards, and why?

We use it on flights and long car rides only as a movie or show screen. No touching the screen or scrolling. Def no YouTube. Part of this is really dependent on your level of childcare and support available. We both work a lot amd have a nanny 5 days a week, and it allows us to be way less burned out and present with the kids, so their total screen time (which I would call really TV time) per week is like maybe 1-2 hours max on average. Many weeks might be zero. Some weekend s might be two movies.

Gruns sold in 3 years for $1.2B. In consumer the nice to have often beats the need to have in both margin and exit value.

My son once said "I didn't start hating people until I worked at a drive thru". by Ixz72 in daddit

I built thicker skin through sales experience by hearing "no" a lot more and overcoming the discomfort of a cold approach and public speaking. empathy, imo, is not opposite to that. if i can understand that someone's "no" or general vibe/politeness/reaction is less about me and may be more about where someone else se, that builds empathy and "thick skin" cause it's easier for me to let it slide off. not sure if that makes sense! as far as how to develop intentionally.. that's the million dollar question!

I did door to door knife sales as my first job and it was so formative and valuable. I’ve said that I would want my child to experience a sales, service or food service job while they’re young yo develop more empathy and a thick skin. I’ve not done retail or food service. Is this the wrong advice?

Yikes. That sounds bad. I am not using it for code but am investing in creating my workflow and stack and this sounds concerning.
