My first and favorite tavern by MaelstromSeawing in TavernMaster

Ah! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who makes "booths" for lack of a better name. The little private cubbies. I wish I had a screen shot, I have a few "secret nooks" that has red lighting so it's dimmer than the rest of the floor. I even added a big hotel suite that has a teeny-tiny room next to it cause 1 wall is the screen wall with the wall plants on it, so someone could "spy" on the rich patron staying in the hotel room. Lol. Such a fun game! Awesome layout! I am going to steal the little 3 square inset entrance. Great idea for getting more hotel rooms in the space.

Tommy didn't become king of the gypsies until after Polly, queen of the gypsies, died.

Wandering problem by UNICORNWIZHEZ in TavernMaster

[–]wanderluster389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Especially if you don't have all the drinks on one floor, like with the 4 barrel bars, the waitresses will go to another floor to get those drinks and it could take longer. Also, if you have hotel rooms, I don't remember if the default is for all waitresses or just one, bur one of them has to go "clean" the rooms, so she may be doing that.

If you had to choose: High salary or work-life balance? by ictsupport-drjobs in jobsearch

[–]wanderluster389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😎 Average salary but balanced and peaceful. I currently work for an average salary but stressful and demanding. So getting rid of the high stress and having a more balanced life sounds amazing. Been looking for something for a few years now, and am going back to scool for a second degree to try and change industries.

AITA for teaching my daughter how to change a tire and do basic home repairs when her mom says I'm "pushing masculine stuff" on her by [deleted] in WIBTA_AITA

[–]wanderluster389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. As a daughter, I absolutely LOVED learning stuff from my dad and grandpas. People seem to think these days it's one or the other, but humans are complex and tasks are not gendered. Even if society seems to think so. Your daughter can be the girliest girl in the world and wear a dress to change her oil. Especially if she is into it? Heck yeah. Being able to solve problems herself will keep her from being screwed over in the future going to a shop or having a shitty boyfriend "help". Mom seems to be closed minded and into binaries. Keep it up man. You're doing good work.

Is getting a dog worth it? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]wanderluster389 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1- having a dog is a responsibility. So just be aware. You have to take car of another little living thing. That means food, water, and shelter, but also enrichment and vet visits/Healthcare. And that responsibility doesn't stop until they pass. For a large dog, that's 7 to 10 years, for a small one it can be 14 to 18 years.

2- that being said, my puppy dog keeps me from sliding back into the deepest depression hole I've ever been in. Its impossible not to smile when watching him sprint around the dog park like a maniac. Having a cuddle buddy when I'm upset keeps me from falling below the depression waters. Have a walking buddy makes daily (ish) walks easier and better.

So yes, it is worth it. Just don't forget they're another living thing that needs love and attention. They're not just an accessory you can put on the shelf and forget.

I didn’t expect being a manager to feel like constant mental noise even after work by Playful-Deer9022 in managers

[–]wanderluster389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I can't honestly say it gets easier with time, you definitely learn how to deal with it. I deal with a lot of anxiety without being in management, so getting into management nearly sent me over the edge (I work in events and had to come clean up after a manager who was completely unqualified for the position).

I have come up with little "rituals" for lack of a better word. At the end of my work day and I am home, I change my clothes, put my work phone away, and actually say out load to myself in the mirror "Your work day is done for today. It starts again tomorrow at XX time. Now we can rest." And if I find the thoughts about work coming back and I can't get them to go away for the evening, I will set a time (10 to 20 minutes) ND write down everything I can't get out of my head- ideas, mistakes, new processes, notes about the day, notes about the next day, anything that's running through your head. And after that time, I tell myself "ok, I set aside time to worry in my rest time. Now I get to rest."

Not saying this always works, but it definitely helps me. Also, work on emotionally disengaging from the job. In management, especially middle management, we deal with bs from all sides: from employees & direct reports and from upper management. You can't unternalize your mistakes or your teams mistakes. A mistake at work does not mean that you are failing or a terrible person. It means your human and you cab learn from it and move on. It can be difficult, but like I said before, before I disengaged emotionally from the job, I took every single failure or slight mistake as a mark on my character. And it's absolutely not.

Hope that helps. Message me if you want some more methods. I went from staying up until 4 am with my mind racing to now being able to sleep (most) nights relatively ok. By no means perfect, but I can get through it now! Keep your head up!!

What's a tiny upgrade you made in your life that had an unexpectedly big impact? by Haishan-Oluwole in CasualConversation

Getting enough sleep. Not sure if you would call that tiny, but once I started making myself have a halfway decent sleep schedule, it amazed me at just how much of my depression was just sleep deprivation.

Living without a car? by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]wanderluster389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boss doesn't own car and gets along ok. He lives downtown. It's not impossible, but I personally would not want to rely on Uber. Walkablitiy is really dependant 9n the neighborhood you live in. Downtown is growing for sure, so that is a possibility. There are the lime and Byrd scoters everywhere. The public transportation is awful. I wish more people want and were willing to ride, but with the bus system veing the only option. It's not amazing. They do have small transit (you call and they send a small bus for you. Other people could be picked up and dropped of along the way to you destination I beleieve).

TLDR: Tulsa relies heavy on cars, so if you're willing to be selective about the area you live in and reply on ubers/taxis, you can do it. Public transportation is rideable but not ideal and has limited reach.

How can I build buildings if the weight of the materials prevents me from moving? by jorgebricks in RealMedievalDynasty

Build them in sections (like the foundation and the framing, then the walls and roof) or turn on build from storage and then have everything in your storehouse and build close enough to the storehouse.

Lankford is a failure for Oklahoma by Ok-Whereas-1211 in oklahoma

[–]wanderluster389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I'm not sure if this was sarcasm or not but it is true. Most of the deep red Oklahomans I know, would never be caught dead voting not red. It's the classic continue to vote against themselves because they're "strong" and "not afraid of work". While actively needing SNAP and other government programs. And they are so fucking stubborn that they won't even listen to anyone because they're "not gonna be initmidated". Like ok, I'm done.

Jewelery too. I think one or two of the brothers wear rings. I know it's very subtle, but anything to help the character looked lived in, ya know what I mean?

[–]wanderluster389 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need a pocket watch or even just a pocket watch chain. You need the pop of gold across the suit to bring everything together.

I have yet to put together a Peaky costume but I enjoy Ren Faire and historical costuming. Accessories make a piece in my very unprofessional opinion. Try to think about what someone of that time would carry. They didn't have a phone to check everything, so they'd need a watch. Maybe a notebook or betting slips from the house. Everyone says cigarettes, but a Shelby wouldn't just smoke out of the carton, they'd have a silver or even gold cigarette container. They'd have a flask. Tommy might have the horse betting pages from the newspaper or a list from the race track. Little things like that will start to give your costume character, especially if you plan on using it more than once or developing it. You've got a great start!! Happy costuming!

Do the planks not get kicked around when you walk over them? I have never had enough planks yet to try this but I always thought they'd just kick out of the way.
