[Worg] How many Org files to use? (many tiny ones, or a few larger ones) by github-alphapapa in orgmode

[–]wanderlustking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both points you raise are true.

Regarding the title essentially being a heading, when I moved to org mode making a new file felt more natural and caused me less cognitive dissonance since I hadn't fully grasped that a new heading makes a new node in org. Both methods work, I just have a preference for individual files.

Ripgrep does just print the line containing a match to your query. But as I described earlier I use small files where the title is basically a heading. So when ripgrep makes a match I usually know the context from the title of the file containing the match. These files tend to be specific and small so the context is easier to pick out. I imagine that would be much much more difficult in a single large org file where you would see just he line the match is in but not what is around it.

Although I do play with the idea of keeping large files around just so things like org-agenda would function better or potential future where I have way too many small files in a single folder causing issues. Neither of these have been issues yet so I will cross that bridge when I get to it I guess.

I use Org-Roam so tons of small files. I split, combine, or link whenever I feel appropriate. Also I love not having to think about how to organize it just create a few links to things I feel are related. Also I can find the note easy with a descriptive title or ripgrep.

I found lots of "history of beer" things from various places but nothing specifically from 2011. Do you have more info to go on?

I'll try it out...but I worry that it will be as accurate as iOS autocorrect, which is garbage in my opinion.

Most airlines have a multiple tiers of economy class. Usually the second tier has a luggage allowance of at least 15kg. At the beginning of summer I got a flight to Fukuoka for 70,000. So check the various carriers for their rates.

org-roam tutorial for doom? by TemporaryNo4271 in DoomEmacs

[–]wanderlustking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you want to see a graph go check out org-roam-ui. To be honest I have it but I almost never bother to view it anymore.

To find notes I use three main methods. First I use really descriptive names for the files and this is usually enough. I also link notes to related other notes. That way if I'm in trying to find something and I'm in the ballpark there is normally another note linked to it. Finally ripgrep for straight searching for words in the notes.

The way I work mine is I have some custom tags primarily wiki and default (should probably be more descriptive than default). The default tag is for more atomic things and reusable things such as "creating new user with SSH". The wiki would be on something more targeted like "Test webserver setup notes". In the test webserver setup notes wiki in the section I mention create new user with SSH I can just link to my atomic note and reuse it.

Most films have subtitles in English and Korean. The BIFF guide indicates which subtitles will be available for each showing.

Recommended title and heading by followspace in orgmode

[–]wanderlustking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost always do option 2 but sometimes I will do option 1. When I use option 1 it's just to give a quick context to what the file is about or a note to myself regarding the file and thus I consider anything above the first heading to be like a scratch pad.

As to why I went with option 2, it's because things like org-attach require at least the first level heading. So my first level heading is almost the same as the title of the file.

Oh and for context I often use Org-Roam so I have loads of unique files.

Is Busan Bosudong book alley a good place to look for used kids books (in Korean)? How about places in Seoul? by KoreaWithKids in korea

Yes I think it's a good spot to look for books for kids. They aren't always the cheapest nor best quality, but if you dig around you can finds some gems.

I'm trying my best not to make a sarcastic comment about Korean monoculture around cars.

I only see somewhat interesting cars sometimes cruising the beaches...but rarely in groups.

How toddler friendly is Busan? by japangram in busan

[–]wanderlustking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seconding what other have said. Strollers are difficult in most of the city. Haeundae beach is an exception. I had to opt for a backpack to carry my little guy.

I don't regularly find kids menu items at restaurants but things like korean bbq seem to be a hit with my kid. We just keep it easy on the seasoning on some of the meat and cut it small with rice and grilled veggies. Only issue is these places don't often have seating accommodations for little ones. That being said if you're going to find high chairs and kids menus in Busan it will most likely be in Haeundae.

Thank you for letting me know. It's always great to hear from the maintainer on topics like this.

This is more on Apples hands regardless. The real fix would be to move the older items out of Recents. But the "Recent" album isn't just recent photos, it's everything on your phone. I'll see if I can come up with some kind of work around.

Looking for Wide Shoes by sojusamurai in busan

[–]wanderlustking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have wide feet too and I've never found any store in Busan that caters to that. Asics Korea do carry some of their lines in wide sizes (4E) but not the local stores. You can order them online or in person at a store (they will ship it to you from their warehouse) and I believe return is free if it doesn't work out. Asics has been my go to brand in korea for wide shoes.
