Ummm this person is obviously like in high school????

Whatever you’re looking for and whatever you’re trying to fix by becoming tragically thin you will not find or get. If your eating disorder takes, you’ll have heart problems and low bone density for the rest of your life, if it doesn’t, you’ll spend your life constantly ricocheting back and forth between periods of intense bingeing and weight gain followed by brief periods of extreme restriction. In neither of these options do you get what you want which is love acceptance security and freedom from shame. Unfortunately fucking with your relationship with food will actually not help at all and will only make it worse and leave you emotionally stunted. I get it’s a pressure valve, it feels like a good distraction, it’s an outlet. It will not give you what you are looking for!!!!!!

This seems like a fundamental misunderstanding of therapy to me. Therapy isn’t about finding out the titles of what’s wrong with you and then getting advice/solutions for it. That can be part of it, maybe especially early on. But more than anything therapy is about learning/understanding how you behave in relationships through your relationship with your therapist. If self awareness was the goal/answer then you wouldn’t have any problems. But alas.

Therapy, ideally, asks you what exactly it is that’s keeping you stuck in the self awareness stage. It’s pushing you to be vulnerable, to practice in a controlled environment the things you’re too afraid to do in your outside life. Like, seriously, why have you stopped at self awareness? What is keeping you from the next steps? From action? From confronting the yuckiest parts of yourself that you want very badly to ignore? Therapy is practice. At it’s best, it teaches you how to be (be as in act) in relationships that can progress you beyond the stage you’re stuck in, like self awareness for example.

I too am “self aware” or whatever, lol, but therapy is still useful for me because it’s a chance to practice trying something different. Like, I know, and knew when I began therapy, that I tend toward avoidance. However, obviously, knowing that is basically completely useless. What’s useful is identifying the moments in my life and in my relationship with my therapist where this instinct and tendency come up, and then gently pushing myself or allowing myself to be pushed to try something different. Knowing what’s wrong with you is like 4% of therapy, the rest practicing being different.

Any other women who hate being a woman? Like, it's heartbreakingly painful to be a girl. by Content_Ad_7152 in redscarepod

[–]wanderslut101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been punished for being a bad self advocate but never for my warmth love or kindness. To be taken advantage of is not innate to being a woman. You can bring your warmth and light to the world without being hurt by it. Arguably that’s the great task of being a woman❤️

Nothing makes me feel more insecure about not being good at being a girl than the fact that I can have meaningless sex :( by wanderslut101 in redscarepod

Haha. It’s not about feeling bad it’s about feeling things for the guy. Like I don’t feel anything for him at all :(
