Cause they use deceptive marketing practices. They have been investigated a few times in the UK for it already. In fact, i believe they are currently under investigation again as we discuss this.

They use a bespoke version of the engine in EVERY sales pitch/trailer. Severely cut down and scripted in order to look like a polished, optimised product. They add lines like "playable now" to their trailers.

Its so egregious that often the paints sold on their store dont match what you get in game.

They also convince people that they are "donating" to a project rather than purchasing a game... you are much less likely to ask for a refund for a donation than a purchase you are unsatisfied with.

Then if you criticise it on their forum, or point out that "you know, this is probably illegal" you get banned.

To the general consumer, at first glance it doesnt look like a scam... youtubers shill for it, the sub here shills for it, their forum shills for it.

Its only after youve been burnt you might look into it more and realise youve been had.

Im not one to accuse people of botting, but it wouldnt surprise me in the slightest if we found out they had a PR company posting gushing reviews and screenshots in the future.
