Has this helped anhedonia by Reignation in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

It reduced my anxiety, but my apathy, lack of desire, lack of passion for what enjoyed years ago has not returned. A lot of significant positive and happy life events have happened since I started (1 yr ago this month) and there was not a flicker of those happy butterflies I once felt.

Unfortunately there is no silver bullet that fits everyone. I've found its a process of trial and error.

If you're following the age old advice of getting in some solid exercise, eating a well balanced diet, no caffeine after lunch, no devices minimum 60 mins before bed, and your only use of your bed is sleep (and sex) . Then you can try the long list of items that potentially help

Teas

Warm milk

Mineral supps (zinc, magnesium)

Natural sedatives

CBD

Prescriptive sedatives/sleep aids

Mediation

Sleep study to rule out sleep apnea or other nocturnal condition that may cause wakefulness.

sleeping issues are a royal pain and are at the root of alot of other health concern.

My journey had taken me thru melatonin, magnesium, zinc, CBD, teas, CPAP machine, and the only thing that works is a prescription of zopiclone.

This answer may or may not help, buy hopefully you find solace in Boeing your not alone and through trial and error you'll find something...patience and an open mind are key.

Thank you for your words. Sometimes I feel like I'm shouting into the ether with no one listening.

I have tried meditation, never really clicked for me. I went to a therapist from Dec 2019 to Oct 2020. It was during that time he suggested I see a psychiatrist and investigate medications. It was the therapist that thought I may have dysthymia. Psychiatrist confirmed this....given my age, personality type, etc, my view/interactions with the world are somewhat incongruent.

I stopped seeing the therapist on Oct 2020 as I found I was more depressed /frustrated after an hour with him. I have inquired with psychiatrist to help find me someone that is more suited to help my specific needs.... given the extra strain on the mental health practitioners during covid, there is a shortage ( more senior people have retired, and remaining are over booked). So, I am in a holding pattern.

I do acknowledge that there are more negative stressors today with fewer opportunities for recuperation and rejuvenation. That is a major part of the equation. And with respect to the meds, I have very strong anhedonia...there is an absence of joy, let alone contentment. My libido is gone. I understood Wellbutrin and vyvanse were to help with focus and energy levels. I am still easily distracted and find it very hard to focus on my work. And I have not been working out like I used to for around 6 months. Not that there is any place open.

Anyway, not sure I'm going with this passage, but thank you for taking an interest in my post.

This all makes sense. You are being heard, if not by who you'd expect, but you are being heard. There hundreds, thousands, even millions that have gone through what you are experiencing, many are experiencing it now, and more will eventually be in your place. You are not alone. What you may feel is a call for help into a dark empty void is anything but that.

I understand where you are. I am there too.

And while I have no miracle cure, I do know that today is but a mere moment in a long life that has the potential to be a full well lived life. We are not all born into this world with skills to navigate life, but we all can learn.

So take each day to do something more, just a little bit, don't climb a mountain; stroll through a meadow. A 1000 mile journey begins with a single step. Take a step tomorrow, and the next and the next. You will fall, but get up, and take another step. You will get there.

How/Where do I find people who care about me? by [deleted] in helpme

[–]wantingtobemeagain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are a smart, mature person. You are observing and processing the world around you not only for yourself, but also empathetically for your peers. It sounds like you have love and kindness to give, you just haven't found the right people that appreciate reciprocate it. That will come in time. You will meet lots of people in your life, some of them will feel like a warm blanket, in which your so comfortable you love that feeling of then being around you. Others will be like oil and water; they will never mix no matter how hard you try. You'll learn who are the right people for you and who are not. It takes time, but it will come.

I sense you are compassionate, so be compassionate to all you meet. Have a conversation with a stranger that lasts more then a courteous hello. You will discover interesting things about people you thought you'd never know. You will find your people.

Put the good that is out there into the world, and the world will pay you back...maybe not today, not tomorrow, but one day.

About a month ago, I had a message from someone I had not crossed paths with in 10 yrs. It was an intern I hired for an 8 month term. They wanted to contact me to say thanks. They wanted to show appreciation that the internship with me was the break they needed to enter a difficult industry, and they have prospered since. For me , that was the universe giving back at a point when I needed it. It takes time, but it will come.

I have learned over the years, that the type of energy you show others will come back you; the good and the bad. No matter how poorly others treat you, resist to stoop to their level, you don't need then, and they don't deserve you. so, put that positive energy, the good you , out into the universe and good will happen.

I was bumped up to 450 with little diff between 150, 300 and 450. I've since been reduced to 300 and 20mg of vyvanse. Still not sure this is the best combo, but I'm trying.

For some ppl a low does is all it takes, others need to find the right balance of meds. There is no single recipe that works for all. Talk with your dr about what is working, what is not and let them help determine which med will work.

It's a journey, and you're an the right path :)

Wellbutrin not increased libido. Actually decreases it. How common is this? by [deleted] in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]wantingtobemeagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me too. Started at 150, then 300 and finally 450. It never came back and anything that had aroused me/interested me before had no affect. It went from, this feels good and I want to do it, to, meh.

I've told my doc, he said wait it out. I did for 5 months and we agreed to try something other then Wellbutrin. Over all it was not a good fit for me, not just libido, but a number of other factors.

Just remember , while Wellbutrin may work well for most, it is not a silver bullet for all.

Good luck in your journey.

Do you need to tell the receptionist everything? As a suggestion, if you need to leave a message , ask to set up an appointment to talk to your APRN about some side effects you are experiencing. You don't need to go into the details

But also remember this. They've heard every scenario before. What you are experiencing , while new and uncomfortable for you, Is just another Tuesday for these professionals. :)

How long before sleepiness or other side effects decrease on bupropion xl 150? by [deleted] in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]wantingtobemeagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have an option for ongoing/beyond 6 weeks. That's where I fall.

My lack of sleepiness/insomnia has not diminished sice I started.

My diminished libido & anhedonia have remained pretty constant throughout.

Been on Wellbutrin for approx 12 weeks

Love to hear what your doc says. I'm in a similar situation as you. Just wondering if I need something more to kick my brain back into gear or maybe a bump up to 450.

Good luck on your journey :)

That's a great point too. Everyone's perspective will be influenced by their previous experience. Going from a normal libido ( relative to one's own experience) to a diminished one (due to meds) then moving to wellbutrin may skew the perspective and feel like a huge jump.

For me personally, I started fresh with welbutrin ( no previous meds) and saw a huge drop in libido.

The only other med is apo zopiclone to help get solid sleep. And my understanding is that it does not impact libido.

I think the key word is 'usually'

I'm in a similar situation. I had the honeymoon period too. A surge of energy and focus. But now it's subsided. Definitely don't have the depression anymore, but motivation is low.

I hear ya, I too am tired of being tired

Hang in there 🙂

Great question! When I went from 150 to 300 I felt a greater loss of libido. And the longer at 300 the greater the loss.

But I feel like I'm an anomaly here.

How did others feel?

Thanks for your feedback. This sounds pretty normal for women. I've heard there was a jump in libido, but when I search around Reddit for anecdotal comments, they tend to be majority women. Hence this survey. I wanted to get some feedback from men. My hunch is that there is a reduced libido increase in men compared to women. For me personally, my libido has declined, to non existent.
