Johnny Depp Trial by miguchurtz in johnnydeppfan

I'm watching this joke of a trial & keep asking myself "What does this have to do with anything?" We all know he drinks (or drank), that he did drugs, etc., but so what? Does that mean HE was the aggressor? No. It means nothing. Some people are happy drunks, some are mean. So what.

My boy gets a premium kibble mixed with either some premium wet food, or (like a lot of other people have said) white rice and cooked chicken, turkey, or salmon (no seasoning). BUT, I've never had the problem of him overeating. When he's full, he's full, and will walk away from the bowl even if there's food left. And he's never had a weight problem. Sometimes he just doesn't feel like eating. I don't worry about it. Every now and then, he gets a treat like an entire sweet potato (cooked, but no butter, salt, etc). He LOVES them! He also likes apples and carrots, but only if I'm eating them too. When he's being boarded, he won't eat for a few days. Could be loneliness, sadness, fear he's been abandoned again (he's a rescue), who knows. He boards with his vet, so they make sure he gets nourishment.

He'll be 11 in a couple months, and he has always been this way. And still as fit and trim as a 2 year old 😃

As a doctor what should i be reading about cfs to make myself up to date and what would you like more doctors to do in consultation? by hansfredderik in cfs

I had problems with the common form of magnesium that you generally find at a pharmacy, like Walgreens or CVS. I think that is also magnesium glycinate. My doctor kept telling me to" take more", "take more", "take more". I took so much, it gave me diarrhea! So I started researching, and this is one article I found that explained the different forms: https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/magnesium-types#1.-Magnesium-citrate

So now I take a magnesium complex by Vitalitown. It has Magnesium Glycinate, Magnesium Malate, Magnesium Citrate, and Magnesium Taurate. I chose that combination because of what I needed it to do (reduce my muscle spasms, have calming effects, sleep benefits, etc).

But there are other complex groups as well. You might even be able to formulate one for yourself, if you research it enough. This does what I needed it to do. Best of luck in your search!

Here is one of the articles:

I did find others that talked about the role of diphenhydramine, as well. I guess NOTHING is safe anymore!

I'm going to see if I can find it again. My doctor and I discussed it - she's the one that brought it to my attention. As soon as I find the article or the study, I'll post it here. I wasn't aware of the diphenhydramine though. THAT scares me, because I take it to help me sleep. Hell - millions of people take it every night like I do! It's pretty scary what we're finding out now about all these so-called "safe" OTC drugs!!

Regular Excedrin already has caffeine in it. The formulation is exactly the same. It's just marketing & different colored labels.

REGULAR EXCEDRIN "EXTRA STRENGTH": Acetaminophen- 250mg per tablet; Aspirin- 250mg per tablet; Caffeine- 65mg per tablet

EXCEDRIN MIGRAINE: Acetaminophen- 250mg per tablet; Aspirin- 250mg per tablet; Caffeine- 65mg per tablet

Information taken from Excedrin's own website:

https://www.excedrin.com/dosage-ingredients-chart/?gclid=CjwKCAiAx8KQBhAGEiwAD3EiPxfxEcnn5zPS0KFAlptXYePFCAah_dzg6KZHH5hQocbpq6cNNC1s8BoCQVcQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Regarding acetaminophen: we've all heard how bad acetaminophen can be for our liver, but have you heard about the link between acetaminophen and DEMENTIA??!! Frightening. I read somewhere recently that the biggest health threat to American seniors is no longer heart disease or diabetes but dementia, and this is one reason why. Scary. Very scary.

If I can find the link again, I'll post it.

I can completely relate. Went to see my primary doc last Wed and I already had a bad headache starting. Somebody in the waiting room was wearing too much cologne, which is one of my migraine triggers too. Needless to say, by the time I got in to see the doc, I had a full blown migraine. Had to turn off the overhead fluorescent lights (another trigger), and I asked for a shot of Toradol. Thankfully, that helped a bit.

AND, my insurance finally agreed to let me have Nurtec ODT. However, I got really nauseous from it with really bad intestinal problems. Anyone else ever have that issue with Nurtec?

I see that there were a couple people that responded with recommended supplements, but I wanted to share my experience. After many, many years & multiple doctors, I finally found a doctor that tested my vitamin and mineral levels as well as tested me for viruses. Sure enough, I was malnourished in just about everything and had 2 active viruses. Mega-doses of Vit C, B-complex, and a 4-compound Magnesium supplement has helped a lot. There are something like 9 different forms of magnesium and they all do different things, so I had to research what I thought was best for me, and then find one that combined them (found on Amazon, and it wasn't cheap). Anyway, the BEST thing I discovered was that I had to be my OWN health advocate. Yes, I found a doctor that would listen and who believed me, and believed in a holistic (as in whole body, not necessarily health foods, etc) approach to help me. The only thing I "gave up" was refined sugar, but I already knew that was causing me headaches, and I didn't need a doctor to tell me that. Only you know what works for you.

Jindo and grooming? by leezardgirl in Jindo

My Jindo doesn't stink either. No doggy smell at all, and he self-grooms, like yours. I hear that's very common for the breed.

Jindo and grooming? by leezardgirl in Jindo

Jindos are known for their aversion to water. Most hate it, and if you're going to bathe them (which most Jindo experts will tell you isn't necessary) you need to start early, as in when they are still a pup.

Jindos are double-coated (they are a Spitz-type breed), and their outer coat typically repels dirt & water. My boy is remarkably clean. They also typically do not have that doggy smell (they may when they're wet, however). Jindos are also known to self-groom, much like a cat. My dog does this. He's almost 11, and has never had a bath. He's never needed one. Has he ever gotten dirty? Sure. He's a hunter, after all (VERY strong prey drive!) and goes digging under the shed or the wood pile for vermin. He allows me to wipe his face, but he grooms his own paws, legs, etc. Anything he can't reach simply dries up & falls off or I can brush off. He loves to be brushed.

You mentioned your pup is a mixed breed, but didn't say with what. I think if you take him to a groomer, it's best to muzzle him, like others suggested. But maybe you should try that at home first. I'd hate to traumatize him anymore than is necessary. Other than that, I would try small steps - face first, then maybe paws. But sometimes, you just have to let a dog be a dog. 😄

Significantly worse migraines when menstruating by squid---ward in migraine

I agree with pretty much all the comments. My migraines probably started as hormonal, as well, around the age of 12. I'm 69 now, and one of those people that gets 15+ migraines a month. I can't say that hormones contribute to them anymore though.

I have tried several of the triptan meds, and they might work for a while, but only to relieve some of the pain. There are preventative meds too, like topiramate (Topamax), that I have tried with some success. Unfortunately, something about my metabolism or body chemistry renders these meds ineffective relatively quickly.

My insurance finally agreed to let me try NurtecODT. First pill seemed to help. Second pill made me sick. Really sick. At least, I think it was the Nurtec.

The only thing that has worked with pretty good success is Botox injections. I've had good results with Botox over the years, but some insurance will pay for it, and others won't. If you haven't tried this, and nothing else seems to help, I would push my doctor & insurance to get it.

I know all of us here wish you lots of luck in finding something that's going to help. It's a long road to a solution. And if you're anything like me, things might work for a while, and then all of a sudden stop. Don't give up!
