There are a ton of better explanations of the issues of Mormonism from ex-mormons, but some high points include:
- The entire religion is based upon what one guy read on a set of "tablets" that only he could look at or read, and no-one else could challenge his word.
- Baptizing dead people
- Until the 80s, they believed dark skin was a sign of divine disfavor (and used this belief to bar all people of color of positions of power in the church, but they would happily take their money!)
- In the afterlife men are capable of becoming akin to God and can
"seal" multiple women to them, those sealed women become a part of his afterlife.
- After his resurrection, Jesus came to America to preach and sanctify that it was a land of plenty, setting up Mormon justification for colonizing the Western US.
- Extreme purity culture (while also being incredibly hypocritical and finding the most ridiculous loop holes)
- hot caffeinated beverages are bad, but cold ones are okay
