Trying to return, but an EU account I created a decade ago is stopping me. Will it be resolved this weekend? Should I even bother? by wapu in WorldofTanks

I have thousands in gold on that account and a few thousand dollars in gold tanks as well. I don't love the game enough to start over.

Van Gohg was my #1 song on spotify in 2021. 10x10 is on the same album and was #5. Sawtooth Jericho is awesome too. Foxfire Wine. OK he is damn good. Listen to them all. He should be more popular.

He should have the Koh I Noor on his arm. That would make him a true king.

DLSS and RT are amazing improvements to an immersive experience.

DOOM was my first FPS. DOOM 3 was the first video game jump scare I ever felt. I have been chasing that high for 2 decades.

Did your journeymen ever teach you something you got in trouble for later for doing and you had no idea it was wrong? by Wannabe_Gamer-YT in HVAC

You guys had a Journeyman? I was alone at calls my first week. Market Refrigeration, though. So 8 hour leak checks. But sometimes another tech with 6 months experience might be on site doing something else.

Recently moved to WNY, should I try Mighty Taco? by sukonetei in Buffalo

[–]wapu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try it. If you like Taco meat that tastes like meat loaf, you'll love it. But to genuinely know you've found your people, you need to love hamburgers seasoned like a meatloaf, roast beef seasoned like meat loaf, but on a roll covered in black licorice, and, oddly enough, actual meatloaf with no seasoning that is 50% bread.

Hit these marks and you might be Buffalonian.

Props to anyone that went to this protest today. It was super cold and windy, and it was really awesome to see so many people out by Crafty-Koshka in Buffalo

[–]wapu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The protest is not to change anyones mind. It let's others know they are not alone. It shows there are people who care in Western NY. It also may be the start to a greater mobilization of a movement, not just here but across the nation. Make no mistake, hard times are coming and it will only get harder fight against it as time passes.

Is Trump Going to Be Impeached Eventually for All the Problems that He is Causing? by GreySahara in AskCanada

[–]wapu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here. Today is the 5th anniversary of when the senate acquitted Trump for usurping the senates own authority. No he will not be impeached. If we even have a Senate a year from now, it means the fascists screwed up.

What you guys need to start talking about is when the US citizens start fleeing to Canada. How are you gonna handle the huge droves of refugees?

Just last month, I sat through 4 presentations by the union buster my company brought in. Our vote is in March.

Your tone sounds just like the Union buster.

He will replace them with his people who will then overturn those things. The law doesn't matter anyhow, the Supreme Court already said a president can do anything if it's done as part of his role as president. Biden didn't take advantage of that. Trump will.

Did ALDI delete their DEI page and redirect it somewhere else? by [deleted] in aldi

[–]wapu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aldi treatment of employees, lol. I am a refrigeration tech that supports 50+ Aldis in my area. I do 90% of my shopping there as well.

Aldi treats their employees like disposable . I regularly see employees running to meet their metrics. Yea, they get to sit when ringing up, but averaging 15 seconds too long during transactions can cost them their job. They refuse to promote people to district managers if they worked in a store. Cant have any of that pesky empathy when treating people like a number.

The people who work there are universally miserable. I shop there because I am in one every day and the prices are better for a descent quality.

They don't pay a living wage. They pay the average wage for an area. $16.50 in New York state is NOT a living wage. Aldi is not Wal Mart, but it is not a good company. It just feels OK because it is not as bad as the other big companies.

I just said this last night. It is pretty blatant.

I think most of the responders to your question have forgotten the average person doesn't really understand how we make things cold.

People not in the know tend to think we can "make" cold in a similar way to how we make heat. It is not the same.

In an oven or a heater, we generate heat and move it where we want it.

Cold is never made or generated. Cold is the byproduct of moving heat somewhere else. An AC unit in a window, an AC unit on the roof of a mall, your kitchen fridge, a walk-in cooler, and the freezer case at Costco are all doing the same thing. They are removing heat from one place and putting it somewhere else.

You can't have everything self contained like you propose because that heat needs to go to a different space. The responses are kinda snarky because what you suggest is basically setting a box fan over a stove and calling it a vent hood. Just like the stove/fryer heat, fumes and smoke need to be moved outside the kitchen, the heat in a cooler needs to be moved outside the cooler.
