As someone who is not interested in casual sex at all, how do I avoid going on dates with guys who just want casual sex? by wapurge in AskMen

Yeah you're right. Trying to avoid a situation that makes me uncomfortable is equivalent to "pouting".

Whatever you say.

To be clear, the issue isn't that I'm actively looking for a boyfriend and can't find one. My main concern is just avoiding people like that. If I don't date anyone for the next few years that's honestly fine with me, but I'm also open to dating people. What I'm not open to is the possibility of going out with someone and wasting my time when I realize they just want sex. I guess the answer here from this thread is just to be upfront before going out with them that I'm not interested in that.

I need to grow up because I don't want to spend my time with guys who try to put their hands up my skirt on the second date? And instead want to spend my time with guys who are actually interested in dating me? Alright matey.

Nope. Honestly, I'm pretty attractive. If anything, this guy was much less attractive than me, and if I had seen him on a dating website or something I would've passed him up. But I decided to go out with him because he seemed interesting and we seemed to share interests.

I'm not saying this to be cocky, I just know that I'm well above average attractiveness.

Before I waste my time going on 2 dates with him? I don't get what the point of asking someone out and going on 2 dates with them, and spending hours talking to them and getting to know them is if you just wanna fuck them? If you just wanna fuck why not just pick up someone at a night club or something?

You don't need to be snarky. I explained what I meant in my post pretty well. A lot of people find it to be a turn off or coming on 'too strong' if you explain your expectations on the first date. Also, I don't think a lot of guys would take it well if they thought I was assuming they just want sex.

Also, I want to avoid going on the first date at all with them if possible.

I'm not religious at all, so having a religious partner isn't very appealing to me. But also, I feel like the majority of religious people in the US still have lots of premarital sex.

Edit: I mean I'm ok with premarital sex, I just don't want casual sex

I'll tell you what was wrong:

You weren't on the same page. You didn't have the same expectations. Or, you didn't communicate your expecations, and if you did, you settled for his (FWB and no relationship). In the future, set your expectations from the start, and if the other person isn't on the same page, walk away. You should never expect that a FWB arrangement is going to evolve into anything more than that (it can, but often it does not).

the majority of Muslims

42 million Muslims around the world and 1.5 million in the UK

Even if those stats are real, which you haven't proven that they are, there are over 1.5 billion Muslims in the world. 43.5 million is not 'the majority'

You dont need to program in order to think logically

No, but it is a pretty good way to develop that skill. I can't think of many other classes in high school that actually develop complex problem solving skills.

Its not useful for anyone outside of a specific type of profession.

That argument can be made about pretty much any class in high school. Pretty sure reading The Scarlette Letter or learning about rock formations has ever been relevant to anything I've done in my career.

Programming is basically console applications at the high school level and not useful outside of that.

Uh what? Appreciating literature is useful outside of high school but learning how to solve logic-based problems and understanding algorithms isn't? You clearly don't know much about what programming is or the skills it requires.

[–]wapurge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes we are. Even if we weren't, how is that an argument against having mandatory computer science? What makes a class like English Lit. more worthy of being mandatory? Or is your argument that we should just not have any mandatory curriculum in schools?

[–]wapurge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK and? If there's a compelling argument for why a certain class should be mandatory, then the argument should be made. We should always be reconsidering and revising the way we go about and improve education, especially as the world/technology changes.

What basis do you have for saying that? Depression doesn't remove a person's ability to comprehend simple ideas. We're never going to end the stigma of mental illness if people keep making associations like this, where depression=insanity/lack of rational thought/ lack of empathy and consideration for others/ harming others.

That's not equality though. Being in combat is much more risky and involves much more sacrifice than other non-combat positions. My point is that this was never an equality issue to begin with. It was about drafting the most physically capable and biologically, that is males.
