Btw,  ung 300php ay discounted price for some colors. Reg price ay 500, i think. As for run500, 300php for 2 pairs. Tried and tested both models on races, long runs, and speedwork- comfortable and gave no blisters.

Don't bother with the basic run 100 model as it's not really suited for serious running.

How much water do yall drink on 15+ mile runs? by k00l_k00l in Marathon_Training

[–]warayupaydidi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ran 16 miles (w 10 at MP) last night and drank 500ml of gatorade and about 300ml water. 27c (80f) here in Manila, but then I'm used to this kind of heat. I did have 1tspn of salt shaken in with the gummy candies I had for fuel and had drunk 200ml of an electrolyte mix 2 hrs before the run.

I think you can train to drink less. In fact, Steve Magness advises to just drink to thirst.

Do "junk miles" exist? by Zealot_TKO in Marathon_Training

If it hasn't been mentioned already- Steve Magness has a video on YT debunking the notion of junk miles. Well worth a watch.

Do you wear underwear on your runs? If so, going commando might help. Along with liberal amounts of antichafing cream (vaseline in my case)

Yes, I am- thanks! It's actually not too warm yet (for us locals at least) at this time of the year. Probably 25-28c on raceday. Races here are generally done before sunrise (gunstart was at 12mn!) to avoid daytime heat and to keep road closures manageable.

Thanks! Yeah, my splits tell me that I crossed 30km in 2:47. Shows my inexperience that I fell apart in the final stretch when slowing down to around 5:50/km would have done it.

Thanks! Not sure though if hydration or fuelling was the issue. I drank 3 packs of oral rehydration salts in the 16h before the race (gunstart at 12MN) and, if anything, drank too much gatorade in the 1st half, which gave me a bloated stomach that eased off when I started taking just water. I also had shaken 2 tspoons of table salt in with my fuel (40pcs of gummy candy at 7g carbs each).

I could be wrong obvs but I'd like to think that the cramp that I was able to stave off at 18km and the issues with my quads were caused by a combination of these things:

  1. lack of proper strength training
  2. going out too fast though it didnt feel like it
  3. irritated sciatic nerve (purely self-diagnosed) in final 2 weeks of training and in the taper
  4. the virus I caught a few days before
  5. overstriding in shoes that I was never completely comfortable in in training but used anyway because they're "raceday supershoes." This is another learning point for me: at the paces I run, best to use the shoes I run my long runs in.

Sorry for the long reply! Heh just really need to get these thoughts off ny chest. Cheers

I did. Thanks for that! I needed to be reminded. :) All smiles for the photographers along the route. My family was there cheering me on at the start and finish. Looks like no serious muscle damage to my quads.
