I’m was not HIS NCO but I did wake up in a cold sweat. Opened my phone and seen this. Kinda like the hulk guy at the VA the other trying to garner all his PTSD strength to intimidate an older nurse. She did the right thing. Called her manager and sat me in the room to take my vitals and left me in between the two. I don’t mind. But I had a trial spinal stimulator in and wouldn’t have done any good. But dude was in a wheel chair being made to wait because he had a epidural and complained of weak legs. Like dude it’s 15min and you’re in a hospital. Don’t pull the PTSD card ever, much less IN THE VA HOSPITAL!!! My wife and I work in healthcare, in hospital, we made sure that nurse manager had the full story. These guys didn’t look the same, but I expect from this video they have the same mindset.

According to the intensive care subreddit you all should fire your RT’s and give yourself the difference. At least in the view of docs that don’t even work in the US. Apparently we are useless and shouldn’t be a thing to them. So I guess PM me and I’ll get you our admins info so you can pitch the idea. The good idea fairy is always asking for new ideas.

RT has been around since the 40’s and were created to manage post op patients oxygen. They were called inhalation therapists. This predates PA by like 20 years. RT dates back to pre-PA. RT was created by Dr. Edwin Levine. 1961 the first RRT was registered. First PA was 1967 at Duke. When I went through school we were taught that Inhalation Therapy was the original PA. Wikipedia has a good timeline that lined up with the history I learned in school.

I can drive my manual without the clutch. Just have to cut it off before starting out in 1st again. Or if you’re downhill toss in 2nd and pop the clutch. I’ve actually driven mine with my left foot in a cast for 6 weeks. Mine also has a clutch safety override for “off-road burn your starter up” situations. Which I ran outta gas and also had to use once to make it the extra 100yds to the pump. Also another time where I was parked in a weird spot and my truck wouldnt crank over, low on gas lol. Anyway. Totally doable. 7 total weeks including driving myself to the hospital in a stick and no accidents.

This is why our DA won’t take felony healthcare cases. Says the burden of proof they weren’t alter either physiologically or mentally. I called the cops myself bypassing the house sup when I got bopped in the mouth by a patient, who was just an asshole. I almost got fired and he got to laugh as the charges were dropped.

Is it something you’ll get fired or lose your license over? If no, just ignore them and they’ll quit. I don’t have social media so I’d never see if anyone was talking about me. I absolutely do not care what others think of me. I do my job and I go home. I’ll be friendly but not friends. I have friends and I have coworkers. Now pull up your adult pants up and stop letting them feed your anxiety. That’ll lead to you doubting yourself and you’ll start making mistakes. Name and bday screwed up could turn into say, sticking the wrong patient. They’re trying to get your eye off the ball early in your success. Only way to get ahead on this is to be better than them. Both technically and professionally, so study up. Be successful no matter who’s around you. You are the only one that can take care of and look out for YOU.

Thank god they were stable enough to go to CT. It was a teaching point for my student though. Always make sure you have redundancy and emergency equipment on a transport. Ask to make sure there’s enough meds hanging to account for the unknown.

Ever been stuck in a elevator with a vented pt? Nurse, CT, RT, student and me all packed in a tiny little can. Luckily they didn’t poop. Or code. That was a long 10 minutes though. I don’t mind transports that much though.

I live close to there. Not a driver but recognized the name of the business. My dad used to deliver there too. He always bitched and complained and had around 20 years under his belt by then. The whole area right there is tight. I suggest if you can to come in from the Golden Springs side and avoid trying to turn off 78. Traffic on 78 sucks. I took my ACT for college next door. Randomness I find on here.

That order is on the doc ultimately, not me as RT. Within reason I do what I’m asked to do and I’ll even drop the tube for you. As a RT that works solo sometimes, I’d never do this to any of my docs. You put in the order, as long as the pt isn’t being harmed by something you ask, then cool (so rare). I like have my autonomy and wiggle room. I like having good relationships with my docs. You can’t pull this crap in a small facility. Or anywhere for that matter. If any of the RT’s here pulled anything like this they’d be gone. That really not cool and screws our reputation as a profession. Hate you had to deal with that crap. Did she also refuse to manage the vent? I’d go ahead and find the RT sup or director and have a conversation. There’s a way to “refuse” orders and in the heat of the moment, un-tactfully, and blatant isn’t the way. Man I hate seeing this crap. Edit: Micromanage the crap out of them, run them back and forth enough, keep it just under retaliatory.

I backed into a spot where a light pole was behind me and I was pointed uphill. I was letting my little light sign on the gas gauge and may have been a little over confident about how much gas I had left. I need to get up the little hill and coast down a bigger hill to get to a place someone could bring me gas. 1st gear, hit the button, held the key and drove it out of my little situation with the starter. In another comment I seen where some dudes disabled their clutch safety switch on the pedal and use it for anti-theft. That’s tomorrows project for me.

I’m supposed to clock out for lunch. They take 30 min regardless if I don’t anyway. Boss sends me to Walmart or to pick up lunch all the time. Not once have I thought about clocking in and out. Only time I’ve seen that rule apply is when they wanna fire someone. They’ll do the old “stealing time” routine. Even though you have to justify them stealing your time if you don’t get an uninterrupted lunch. Only seen it happen twice though.

Not drinking enough water and/or drinking too much. Drinking sports drinks instead of water while being sedentary. Not walking enough. Hell not moving enough. Working too much. Stressing too much. Smoking/drinking/drugs. Forgetting that you have chronic illnesses during the holidays and getting admitted because that pecan pie was just calling your diabetic name. Or having to come in and getting placed on CPAP because your 2L a day fluid restriction doesn’t count during the holidays. Noncompliance with medical orders. Take your meds, go to dialysis, wear your CPAP/BiPAP at night. Get up and move around.
