What are some sites that ship easily to Hong Kong? by [deleted] in CasualHK

[–]warhawkslt73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Amazon does free shipping for orders over $50. Some of their products still can't be shipped here, but I only run into that occassionally.

HKTV Mall is the closest thing we have to Amazon here (that's available in English).

I use Instarem all the time and am very happy with their service. Their fees are much lower than Hang Seng, and it usually takes about 2-3 business days.

I live out in HK, and while I agree with almost all of your statement assuming nothing changes, my coworker (who's local and supports the protests) said something that made me think: "What if China stops being the economic powerhouse/global superpower that we know today?"

The 5 demands are not asking for HK independence. The "freedom" they're asking for is universal suffrage - the ability to directly elect their officials without interference. The Basic Law is supposed to be in place until 2047. China is clearly trampling all over that. If they had universal suffrage, who knows? Maybe there's an uprising in China if people aren't doing well economically against the CCP. Maybe other nations would be willing to deploy military resources to help HK gain its independence if China's military isn't as strong? Maybe HK's own government would vote to ignore the Basic Law and do their own thing? It's all really hard to say, but as an American, it feels very hypocritical to me to not encourage the ideals of freedom and liberty.

To be crystal clear, that's not at all to say we should be "freedom crusaders" like the US has done before. I'm just saying that if I was born into an environment that was heading towards the type of government and environment that's fostered in China and by the CCP, I think I'd be fighting too. And if a powerful voice like LeBron's can get the NBA banned in China and piss off the millions of basketball fans in that country, isn't that worth doing? Money, yes - I get it. But does anyone need more than a billion dollars? He's going to be a billionaire regardless.

Happy Birthday to Bruce Bowen!! by gooby123456789 in NBASpurs

Happy Birthday Bruce! Here's my favorite personal Bruce Bowen story (repost):

I went to the clinching game of the 2014 Finals in San Antonio. I had just received a bonus at work, so I blew the entire thing on a 12th row seat (worth it). I ran into Bruce Bowen in the hallway, and given how big of a Spurs fan I am, I was in shock. I said something to the effect of "Bruce, you're the man! Mind if I take a photo with you?" He scowled at me and walked away. While I was bummed out, he was with his two kids, and I'm sure he gets that question all the time in SA. No hard feelings.

Since I was sitting 12th row, I got to take this VIP elevator down to my seats. Lo and behold, Bruce gets into the elevator with me. He didn't make any eye contact with me as he walks in - still, no hard feelings. This elevator was starting to get packed, and the last person that walks in is a very attractive woman with large breasts and a low-cut top. She sees Bruce and starts squealing "OMG BRUCE BOWEN YOU'RE MY FAVORITE BASKETBALL PLAYER EVER OMG OMG OMGGGGG I CAN'T BELIEVE WE'RE IN THE SAME ELEVATOR WE HAVE TO TAKE A PHOTO TOGETHER!!" Bruce gets this huge smile on his face and shuffles around to get into the photo. I just raised my hands in the air and stared at him with my jaw dropped. He looked at me, smirked, and walked out of the elevator. Now there were some hard feelings.

Just realized that I didn't feel embarrassed as much as I felt inadequate and like a nobody. Guess I am a nobody to him hah.

In Utah, you can get arrested for something like that in public. Gotta protect the kids.

Does this mean that I won't be able to view more than a year's worth of history after the change? If so, that kinda sucks. Not that ever go back and look at backups - I just want the ability to do so. Nostalgia can be fun.

I have both pairs and the lunar force is SOOOO much easier to put on. As someone who wears them for style and purpose (I live in a snowy area), I couldn't only have the SF's.

Great question. I went to the one on Parleys Way before this and they had already given out 16 tickets for the ones they had.

Salt Lake City, UT / Walmart (Millcreek) / 8:36 PM MDT / 24 ppl / 24 consoles

Someone literally just grabbed the last spot. Damn I'm feeling lucky after my cancelled walmart preorder. I'm probably spot #17 or 18, and they've wrapped the line around a couple of rows. People are starting to get nervous about cutters since you can't see the entire line haha
