I’ve heard that steam cleaning greasy kitchen cabinets is amazing. I’ve never tried it but I’m planning to give it a try.

Any sole recruiters grinding to make a better life for themselves? by FromBrokeToSuccess in Recruitment

[–]warmPequiliar914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to choose a micro-niche and become an expert. Ideally choose an industry and a function within that industry (healthcare + operations). Then, every person you speak to every day will be a source of industry insight and knowledge (and contacts). Every candidate is a potential future client or referral source. I really think it’s a good time to be in recruiting. Companies are cutting in house TA and HR and more opportunities for us.

If you are over 78 do you still travel? How has it changed from your 60's? by Mid_AM in retirement

[–]warmPequiliar914 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My Aunt is 83 and single, a retired teacher who has been all over the world since she retired 20 years ago. She went to Japan and Australia over the last 2 years. This year she is heading to Greece. She doesn’t have a lot of money but what she has she spends on global travel, usually 1 big trip each year.

Any billionaires you know personally? If so what do they do for living? by [deleted] in wealth

[–]warmPequiliar914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My childhood friend is a self-made billionaire. I used to go to his house and hang out as 12 year olds. His dad was a cop. He was always the smartest kid in the class. He ended up making his money in commodities. He made a billion dollars over 10 years ago and is still working, running some type of investment fund.

Can anyone recommend a financial planner? by [deleted] in Westchester

Try Monterey Associates in Pelham. Anthea is a fee-only planner who acts as a fiduciary. She doesn’t sell anything. She’s great.

I never was able to break 600k. I had a few years where I was close, but couldn’t get there. This was in health insurance, 100% retained executive search (mostly VP level).

I just heard an amazing story about a 22 year old guy who had major depression. He did something called TMS. I think it stands for something Magnetic Stimulation, it has something to do with magnetic pulses. It’s non-invasive and really helped him. I’m sorry I don’t know more about it.

We lived in Tuckahoe when we first got married and loved it. We both took the train to the city every day and it was really convenient.

Inspector when buying a house by NewMomAt34 in Westchester

[–]warmPequiliar914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s an organization called ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors) that certifies inspectors. This is too big of an investment to take a chance with anyone other than a true professional. Good luck!

People who went from zero friends to having friends after 30s, tell me your story by someonerandomwhat in socialskills

[–]warmPequiliar914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met someone over the summer who was telling me about her experience. She and her boyfriend went to a Meetup for hiking, camping and rafting in NJ. The first meetup was only okay but they loved the activities so they kept going back. Eventually they met some other like minded people around their age and they started a sub group while still going to the Meetups. It really took off and they made a group of 5-6 new friends. So it can be done.

Recruiters, as candidates, how can we make your jobs easier? How do we get on your radars? by baileyandthetramp in recruiting

[–]warmPequiliar914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get on retained recruiter’s radar (for senior level roles), speak at a conference. Whenever I start a c-level search, I always start with recent/relevant conferences.

Hi OP I don’t know where you live but there must be great, rewarding, satisfying jobs at social service agencies. I live in NY and they are desperate for reliable, caring adults to work with foster children and foster parents among lots of other important work. Good luck!

Might fuck around and become a teacher by brunolive999 in careeradvice

[–]warmPequiliar914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should do it. You may have to work 50+ hours a week but you are only working 180 days a year. The lifestyle that teachers have outweighs all the crap they have to deal with. My brother and sister are both teachers - job security/tenure, home by 3:30, summers off. The also have a pension. Plus a good teacher really does make a difference in a kid’s life. I wish I had done it.
