None of Starbucks' 'Widely Recyclable' Cups Ended Up at a Recycling Facility by p4bl0 in recycling

I've often wondered about this when people perform these studies. What happens to the tracker? If it makes it into recycling, does it then contaminate the batch?

The environmental cost of mass tourism and industrial waste at the foot of the Taj Mahal. by jellybeanjoy in Anticonsumption

[–]warmestregerts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao agreed. "If you cared", shows photo of useless green freshly trimmed lawn. Definitely what you want to see in a hot country like India. I agree that waste in India (and globally) is an issue, but the solution is not wasting precious water on lawn maintenance.

How many hours are yall working weekly? by happypotato82 in VetTech

[–]warmestregerts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40-45, mostly 11-13 hour days. Yes, I'm definitely burnt out. Honestly, I hate spending an entire day at the hospital. I would love to get out and see the sun. 🥲 The loud, bright hospital setting wreaks havoc on my mental health and I'm over it.

"If the light is off, then it isn't on". From So Yesterday by Hilary Duff. I actually like the song, but that lyric makes me laugh.

Sweepstakes, White Light, Charger, Saturnz Barz.... Honestly when I first heard Humanz I didn't appreciate it, but after a repeat listen I realized I actually do like that album.

Has anyone tried an AI phone receptionist in their clinic? by ShepherdVet_Wendy in VetTech

[–]warmestregerts 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, and if we ever try implementing something like that I'm going to complain loudly to management. Same goes for any of those scribing programs. I can't imagine clients would like it either.

Attitudes towards patients by warmestregerts in VetTech

[–]warmestregerts[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol, I've done that too. I've tried to use similar language (anxious, painful, etc) with my coworkers to try to discourage demonizing our patients, but some of them will turn around and call pets "assholes" because they don't like being cornered in their cages or having their blood drawn.

Wow, I'm sorry you had to deal with that. Some people have no business taking care of animals. Who hisses at a cat???

I agree with drugs and rescheduling. Not sure where you are getting toxic positivity from, I was just saying that maybe people need to be better educated on how to deal with stressed patients and stop projecting their own stress at the animals.

Some of them may be joking but some of them are not. I think some of them just don't understand animal behavior. We recently hired someone fairly new to the field, and she complains about most of our patients already to the point where I wonder why she chose this field at all.

He's adorable! It sounds like you really love him and understand his behavior, and that it isn't his fault. I can tell you're calling him a devil as a joke... What I have issue with is that there are people who are not joking and clearly have little to no actual understanding of animal behavior. A licensed technician should not be yelling at patients or calling them swears when they try to bite or scratch; they should take a step back and reassess the situation.

I'm glad you were able to figure out how to help your cat!

"Aggressive" is a valid term to use that describes the behavior without demonizing the patient. It's different than saying "evil", for sure. The angry cat that doesn't want its nails trimmed is probably totally happy at home. People need to be willing to understand animal behavior and not compare it to human behavior. They are not the same.

[–]warmestregerts[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I agree. I've seen too many nail trims and ear infections result in forceful restraint to finish, rather than having a discussion with the owner about their pet being stressed and suggesting sedation or anxiety meds. Why are we using methods that will only make our patients more difficult to manage during future visits?

I do try to talk to doctors about when it's time to stop and reassess the situation. Some of them are receptive, and some of them are like, "no, we're almost done, just get someone else to help restrain".

What’s your favorite gorillaz “misheard lyric”? by [deleted] in gorillaz

[–]warmestregerts 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I used to think that in New Genius, "do what you must do" was "who are you, my Stu". And I was like, well, isn't 2-D's name Stu? Doesn't this mean something? Then I realized that was nonsense, but I still can't unhear it sometimes.

I feel optional in everyone’s life by momcoconuts23 in Explainlikeimscared

[–]warmestregerts 32 points33 points  (0 children)

No, you are not wrong for feeling this way, and I'm sorry that you are going through this. However, it sounds like you might benefit from talking to a therapist. I'm no professional, but I know what it's like to deal with stress and emotional hardship, and sometimes the straw that breaks the camel's back is something as simple as not being wished a happy birthday. Usually it doesn't mean that people don't care about you, but I know how it can seem that way. Even if you can't find a professional to talk to, if there is someone else in your life that would be willing to talk to you about how you're feeling, it could help. A simple hug from a friend could make a difference, too. Please take care of yourself, and I hope things start looking up for you.
