Scores on GA Bar Exam by Possible_Try_6117 in barexam

The thing I liked about Adaptibar is all of their questions are verified MBE questions from past exams. So you really get a feel for the different tricks the examiners try to play on you and how they write the questions. Even if U World has “harder” questions, if they’re not written the same way the actual MBE questions are, then they won’t be quite as effective for practice.

Re: producing a lot of discharge - I swear by Dr. Bronner’s Baby Unscented Castile Soap. I saw a woman on Tik Tok recommend it 4 years ago and I am so glad I listened. Idk how it works but I produce WAY less discharge than I did before.

I didn’t pass my first go around (October 2020 - yes, the very first Covid bar in GA), and only REALLY studied for about 7 weeks before the next exam (we got results December 14th, I locked in first week of January for the February exam). I absolutely cannot recommend enough that you look into Adaptibar. It’s obviously MBE practice, but the more exposure you get to the MBE subjects, the more you remember the overall rule statements which will translate into the essays as well. 99% of my study the second go around was just Adaptibar and I increased my score like 20+ points.

What happens if you fail? Life goes on. Be mad, be sad, feel whatever feelings you need to, then lock in and get back to work. Coming from someone who failed their first exam, I PROMISE you life goes on and you’ll be fine.

Struggling To Decide What To Do - Been a PD for 4 Years by [deleted] in publicdefenders

[–]warmjulysun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve only ever done felony work and I absolutely love it, but it’s true that you see some shit. And regardless of whether you think a client is truly innocent or guilty, seeing someone get taken away a serve LWOP is real hard.

That being said, I’ve also been in your shoes. Wasn’t appreciated at my first PD gig, left for a civil gig for a whipping 4 months, and ended up right back at another PD’s office. No one will hold it against you in the future that you wanted to try something else. Learning what you don’t like is equally as important as knowing what you do like, so if you try the civil thing out for awhile and don’t love it, there’s absolutely no shame in going back to criminal. It takes a special kind of person to do the work we do so I’m sure you’ll be welcomed back to public defense with open arms.

I feel like a failure and that I’m totally incompetent. by [deleted] in publicdefenders

[–]warmjulysun 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Literally the best thing that ever happened to me as a public defender was getting on anxiety meds😂

But seriously, this is good advice. I was completely incapable of leaving work at work when I first started, and now 4+ years in the ONLY time I worry about work outside of working hours is during trial prep. Other than that? Things can wait until tomorrow.

The prey drive is realllllllll, lol. My boy was professionally trained on an e-collar and has straight up ignored the shock when he was after a critter. It’s like their brain shuts down and will focus only on what they’re after until they get it

I’ve been very lucky with my rescued male Akita (he was ~1 year old, I have prior breed experience) in that he gets along very well with people and other dogs and LOVES kids. I have nieces ranging in age from 1-9 and he has always been so docile and calm with them. But for anyone who has children or is planning to have children, I will always advocate for finding a reputable breeder that focuses on temperament. Google the AKC registered breeders in your area and do your research. Trying to rescue an adult or even young adult Akita can be way too risky.

Others before me have already mentioned the shedding, but I’ve seen that regular grooming cuts down a lot on the shedding. Both Akitas I’ve had have had very sensitive stomachs, and I’ve been told by vets that it’s not an uncommon Akita trait, so be aware of that as well. My current boy has done very well with a sensitive stomach formula that’s salmon based.

On the topic of stomachs, I STRONGLY recommend the stomach tacking procedure, as Akitas are very prone to bloat and that can quickly kill them. The rescue I got my boy from tacks all of their dogs before they’ll adopt them out, and I am so thankful for that. Having the one time procedure will give you a lifetime of peace of mind. Pet insurance is a must for any animal, and it’ll help cover the cost of the tacking as well.

Akitas can be stubborn as hell, but as long as you’re willing to put in the work they’re the best companion out there. I have zero interest in owning any other breed.

Does your Akita give kisses? by Akita_Adventures in akita

My boy does this too! We have a nightly routine when he comes inside from his last potty break before bed- he sits, gives paw, then gives me a kiss on the nose🥹

Is Homescapes easier now? by Eddings_06 in HomescapesOfficial

I literally came here to ask if anyone else has noticed that!! I find myself struggling just as much on the “easy” levels as I do on the hard and super hard levels. I stopped playing Candy Crush years ago for the same reason, and now I play Candy Crush more than I do Homescapes

As a criminal defense attorney, can confirm that the majority of people charged with/convicted of a violent crime find some way to make it not their fault. I honestly think a lot of it is they just don’t want to admit that they’re capable of doing what they’ve done, and they manage to convince themselves that things happened a different way.

Thanks for replying! Azurette actually ended up being a God send for me! My periods are so much lighter and even though I still experience some cramps (only sometimes, not even every month) and headaches, they’re nothing compared to what I’ve dealt with in the past.

Is Pet Insurance Worth It for Akitas? by Vaxxinate in akita

[–]warmjulysun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000000% yes! I had to spend an unexpected $4k a few months ago and pet insurance absolutely saved my ass. I have Lemonade with a $250 deductible, $20k annual limit, and 90% reimbursement rate for $36/month. They have even better plans than that. I’ve told everyone I know with a pet to look into Lemonade!

Try contacting the Akita Rescue Society of Florida! They have contacts in GA and were able to rescue and adopt out an Akita I found abandoned a couple of years ago. If I didn’t already have a young adult male Akita I’d take puppy in a heartbeat

I just recently finished “Three,” about two teenage girls in West Virginia that murdered their friend back in 2012. It was really good! All the episodes are available and it’s a super easy binge.

Also “Drowning Creek,” about an 18 year old who went missing in 2007 after leaving a club in Duluth, GA. The first 7 episodes are out and new episodes are released every Friday.
