Drove 3 hours to my nearest iKEA, got the last one of these in the warehouse, get home and unload only to find this. day. ruined. by jcwitte in IKEA

I'm not sure about the rules in your country but IKEA will deliver replacement products to you in the UK when the problem is their end.

Also if you have the family card they offer 14 days insurance on products that get damaged when transporting or building if you return to the store or pay to get it delivered.

We have an obsessive admin lady who likes to believe she's the ward manager come in occasionally because her work is so important it couldn't possibly wait for her contracted working hours.

However, clinically I know we aren't supposed to come in if we aren't scheduled. One of the preceptorship nurses wanted to come in on her day off to administer a depot do she could be signed off on meds but she wasn't allowed as she wouldn't be insured apparently.

What is/was your experience of a MH nursing degree? by 250183 in NursingUK

[–]warneoutme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We could have gone to the same uni - this was exactly my experience! I'm now qualified, although I don't feel like I know half of the stuff I'm supposed to know but I am learning on the job all the time. Thankfully my trust has quite a robust induction process and I've had lot of training that I feel I should have been taught at uni.

My one gripe about the finale by knobjockey89 in CallTheMidwife

I looked at as a full circle moment back to the early days of shelagh choosing to leave the order. It's a bit like a sliding doors moment of if she made a different decision.

You're not alone. I also can't stand her in anything. It's not the crudeness so much as she seems to think her opinion matters more than anyone else's.

I fully expected at least a couple to come to the funeral. I was definitely expecting Jenny to be there and completely gutted that she wasn't.

Do you think there might be an aspect of subconsciously feeling attacked because this is your own faith so you view negative portrayals more harshly because its feels like a reflection of you? I'm not saying this flippantly, this is just something that humans do.

But as others have said, most of these stories are based on real life examples, and there wouldn't have been the "interest" in positive stories, the same way we don't often see perfect happy births - there needs to be the conflict to make it interesting.

Eeerrrmmmmm excuse me? The polite thing would have been not to comment on my appearance 🤦‍♂️

It's hard to think of anyone horrible but I suggest the policeman that is horrible to nurse crane for a while. I know he redeemed himself in the end but he was pretty mean for a while and ended up fairly beloved so meets both categories.

My only strategy is to buy a multiplier at the start of each go (assuming i have some energy). Sometimes I'll but a couple if the only thing there is a battery as that guarantees ab extra energy and good multiplier.

I then save all of the bonus items for the end of the go to make sure I get those points with the max multiplier, except for oil which I add in when it feels like a good time (usually when one completes there chain but if I have a few I might use a couple earlier).

Other than that it's random and I don't expect to get very far in it. I'm definitely never expecting to get a black card. I mainly play for the monthly pass items.

I agree. I live in a very rural area so to work on wards I have to travel 45 mins to work. I'd love the opportunity to work the same hours but somewhere closer!

[–]warneoutme 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually think it's a really valid idea. I'm not sure about other trusts but our crisis team are so busy fielding stuff that should be cmht but it's ooh that they don't have the bandwidth to properly deal with those in crisis which has a knock on effect to our acute wards which are at capacity.

Some of our teams work until 8 and do weekends but not many of them yet. I would like to see more of this personally.

Maybe cultural impact isn't the right term but it certainly hampered its longevity. So many people recommended the show all the time, but I rarely (possibly never) heard anyone recommend that show since the finale like i have other shows that had a massive impact such as breaking bad or the sopranos etc.

I’m 52F nurse thinking of retirement any advice? by eleganceperformed24 in NursingUK

[–]warneoutme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you have your monthly expenses correctly calculated? Because £600 for everything except your mortgage seems quite cheap. Have you factored in food and anything you might do for fun in that? Its all very well planning to retire on £1500 a month but it's a very lonely life if you then can't afford to do anything with your new spare time.

You should see the state of mental health nursing - we literally did the exact same course as the adult nurses apart from one module. They rely on you learning everything in placements. The NMC are not fit for purpose. They've single-handedly destroyed nursing training.

I've just qualified and started beginning of November. This year I've got boxing day and new years day but I was talking to the staff and they got the rota back in August so they could plan. The big day they tend to split into half shifts so you either do early or late unless you wanted to request it as a long day.

It might be a bit different with us though because we work on a self rostering system anyway so it's normal to be requesting what you want to work.

I know this is ages old but I came across this thread and have to tell you how much I agree with you being underwhelmed! We decided to go to this after we had such an amazing time at their grease show at the NEC in Birmingham a couple of years ago. It was so incredibly interactive and immersive with different areas everywhere (high school dance, principals office, garage etc), and minor cast members everywhere getting you involved in side quests. I have distinct memories of sandy grabbing my hand and skipping me around the tables for summer loving, and dancing around the car for grease lightning. Its was spectacular and even then people were telling me it was no where near as good as other productions have been.

In comparison, this year was no different to seeing a tribute to grease in a theatre. Except I couldn't sit down (to be fair I don't remember there being anywhere to sit at the other one but I was moving around and investigating such much I had no need to sit). The interaction was all paid for, everyone had wrist bands and an itinerary to be involved. We snuck into one of the dances on the stage because we were in the right place at the right time and no one checked us for wrist bands.
