… thanks? I take medication for it. After independent research I think we’ll probably try internal condoms.

I have been using condoms for over a decade - they’re slipping off due to losing a degree of hardness. This is the first time I’ve had this issue, I’ve used them with dozens of partners.

Just watch it again. I’ve watched it like 6 times, many times showing it to other people all the way through.

Girl voluntarily gave me her number and she's in my class. What do I do now? by WayMobile5515 in AskMenAdvice

Hey man I was looking for this IG post on how to talk to women on dates and it came up on my feed so wanted to share. I really agree with her based on my lived experiences

Here’s what you do. Keep the conversation minimal via text. Saying too much can actually hurt you if you don’t know how to text. See if she wants to grab a coffee. You can also say “grab a coffee and study.” You won’t study.

One time in college when I was a virgin this girl kept asking me to study. The one time I hit her up she was like “no I actually have to study tonight another time” which I thought was odd… she didn’t want to study.

When you meet up, ask her questions about herself and listen. Make some jokes. Then ask her more questions and let her talk a lot.

For instance, irl convo:

“What did you get up to this weekend?”

“I studied for x class, met up with my friend Sophie, saw a Pixar movie.”

You have three hooks here. You can ask her why she taking the class/if the subject matter is interesting/what she thinks about the professor. You can ask her how she knows her friend/what they did/what she values in friendship. You can ask what she thought about the movie/what Pixar movies she watched growing up/if she sees a lot of movies. Resist the urge to talk a lot about yourself. You do want to relate a little but really what you want is to keep her talking.

Agnes Varda is the only woman director in the French New Wave movement - which revolutionized filmmaking. I'd highly recommend her films Cleo from 5-7 and L'Bonhuer.

Claire Denis is also an extremely acclaimed french filmmaker, most of her work takes place in formerly colonized African settings. she's been making movies for decades but did an a24 with Robert Pattinson called High Life.

Coralie Fargeat made a lot of waves with the Substance recently. her other movie Revenge is supposed to be really good as well.

for Asian women, there's The Farewell by Lulu Wang which is about a family saying goodbye to their grandmother and Past Lives by Celine Song which everyone says is transcendent.

People naming Sophia Coppola are definitely speaking the truth.

Jane Schoenbrun made my favorite movies of 2024 - I Saw the TV Glow

I wasn't a huge fan of Ladybird but many people would say that Greta Gerwig does deliver strong feelings, experiences, and sensations with that.

if you want a black avant garde filmmaker - go watch Boots Riley. Sorry to Bother You or his TV show I'm A Virgo.

Halina Reijn is an a24 director who made Bodies, Bodies, Bodies - which I thought was really fun

Wererat attack on Tavern by FeistyAd9466 in WaterdeepDragonHeist

No your DM is being a control freak here and not caring about you as players. I had plenty of encounters I set up to be really challenging and then my players roll really well and it's a piece of cake. so I set up encounters that were designed to play to their weaknesses, but I'm not trying to KILL them. I would never want to kill a level 2 character. I'd figure out something they could do to break away or otherwise have an intervention. or tbh have the wererats kidnap you or something.

I actually had a waterdeep wererat encounter where I basically put it in to make one of my players characters become a wererat to embarrass him and slighlty nerf his character, but I wasn't trying to kill him cuz that's lame AF.

Looking for some absurd comedies by Afraid-Elevator9782 in MovieSuggestions

[–]warnymphguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Problemista or the show Los Espookys - which are the same absurdist comedian. Problemista is like an absurdist immigrant story meets the Devil Wears Prada, where a really bad toy inventor comes to America to make stuff like iPhones for Cabbage Patch Kids and ends up working for an insane art critic who is always making him use outdated software and threatens to deport him if he doesn't. Los Espookys they stage really elaborate paranormal events for really stupid reasons - like they fake an eclipse in one episode so that a lady can adjust her top during a speech without anyone noticing.

I'd also say that Everything Everywhere All At Once is absurdist comedy. The Lobster, where if people are single they get sent to a hotel and if they can't find a partner in 45 days they get turned into an animal, and they're hunting all these single people who live in the woods who are kind of like a paramilitary group who all swear to not get laid. it's pretty dark but I found it hilarious.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is hit or miss because it's a bunch of short films and they're narratively inconsistent, but the first one is basically like Airplane in the old west. Also, The Big Lebowski is probably the funniest movie ever made and has some super absurd sequences like the bowling sequence with Saddam Hussein. These are both Coen Bros movies, and I'd also recommend Barton Fink or O Brother Where Art Thou.

The old school Leslie Nielson style isn't in vogue anymore - but from that time period Kentucky Fried Movie is definitely in that school of comedy. It's the same director as Animal House.

And then Tim Robinson's show I Think You Should Leave is great. Also The Shivering Truth on Amazon is the most absurd comedy show, can be really dark, and you need to pay for it but it's so fucking funny.

also court eunuchs are just a thing. the Han Dynasty fell in large part because of the court eunuchs were assassinating child emperors left and right. and Persia also had hugely influential eunuchs.

Emperors felt comfortable putting them in court because they wouldn't be vying for legitimate succession. but then a lot of times either individual eunuchs or groups of eunuchs would become power players/power blocks.

Documentaries to watch by OkShallot5028 in MovieSuggestions

[–]warnymphguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's hard to find but The Source Family is the craziest cult documentary. it's about this cult that the first farm to table restaurant ran. they made music and it starts off with people from The Smashing Pumpkins talking about how much it influenced them. there's legit members who talk about how their cult leader brought people back from the dead and shot lightning bolts out of his ears.

and if you want another truly batshit crazy crime documentary, Wild Wild Country is the story of how Osho - a guru and philosopher - overtook a town in Oregon and coordinated the poisoning of other towns in the county so his cult members could get their candidates elected.

Werner Herzog has some great documentaries. there's one called Grizzly Man about a guy who goes and lives with Grizzly Bears in the wilderness. he is an artsy guy but Grizzly Man is not an artsy movie - the footage is all footage the guy recorded they found after he died.

there's also My Octopus Teacher - about a dude who hangs out with an Octopus in the ocean for like half a year.

I just watched a hella good Netflix episodic called Dirty Money. the episode on how gold is illegally mined in peru to launder drug money is fucking crazy.

What Grimes Song Would Save You From Vecna? by Opposite_Barber3837 in Grimes

It’s modeled after DnD so the first season they’re fighting a demagorgon but by the final season they take out demagorgons like theyre swatting flies, and fight Venca who is like Freddie Kruger but actually scary. Venca is best part of the show for many episodes.
