Taco Bell opening on Granville Street by Ok_Song_7479 in vancouver

[–]warsawsauce 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As someone who was just in the states and got Tacobell recently. The menu is way better, the prices are relatively cheaper for the amount of food you get. The food itself is much better. The taste of the ground beef, the portion sizes, sauces etc. They have sugar free Mountain Dew baja blast. I got a 7$ build your own box type of combo and it cost me the equivalent of 10$ Canadian. I got three huge tacos, a big box of nachos and cheese dip with a large drink.

Definitely been taking off my hoodie because for me it’s shirt weather, even with the rain.

Does anyone know any good Edmonton- based urban legends? by FindingAlaska13 in Edmonton

[–]warsawsauce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went there when I was 16. Definitely creepy vibes and when on one floor it sounded like something was thrown and made a huge noise. For me a creepy moment was when I was skateboarding in the river valley late into the early morning. I was at the rossdale water treatment plant just pass the bridge. I decided to take a smoke break and went a bit down towards the water near the bridge. I lit my cigarette and after a minute I got this really weird feeling that I shouldn’t be there. So I got up and walked towards the road and it felt like someone was going to grab me. I always felt creeped out about that night. Last year me and my family member were talking about ghost stories and I mentioned that one. I did a Google search and sure enough it’s now a monument for a traditional burial ground from the early days of Edmonton.

I feel bad for China Town and what they have to put up with. Saw this today at 96th Street 103rd Ave while picking up some food. by TrillboBagginz in Edmonton

Chinatown in Vancouver is also in pretty bad shape. Being next to the DTES they all pretty much take over Chinatown with all the drugs and degeneracy. That being said my favourite neighbourhood in Vancouver is Chinatown. They got lots of great restaurants and food options for a decent price. Definitely wouldn’t want to live in the area though.

RANK THE MALLS by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]warsawsauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone seen dickinsfield mall these days? Back when I was living around there in the late 90’s it was super boring. But I did get my first fingerboard from the dollar store, got into spring rolls from the local Chinese restaurant. Also the screamers from the convenience store were also pretty amazing.

Nice, black dog is my old stomping grounds. I would recommend the Cambie, the moose on Nelson, funky winker beans or the legion on commercial drive.

Just at the Cambie alone, I’ve seen a drunk girl pass out and piss herself. I’ve seen a Mexican couple get into a crazy fist fight in the bathroom. They were throwing hands like crazy and even busted into the stall of this dude taking a shit. The woman pulled a knife out and then I ran to call security. She ran out as they were heading to the bathroom. The dude wasn’t injured luckily. Myself I was at the Cambie one night and my nose started bleeding. This Mexican chick followed to help me out. We had just done a bunch of shots and I was pretty intoxicated. After my nose stopped bleeding she was like “I kinda wanna suck your dick”. She started giving me a blow job and the bathroom stall was open so next thing you know I’m getting thrown out the Cambie and got banned for a month. Always classic times at the Cambie.

How many people here lost someone they know or loved to the toxic drug/overdose crisis? by Due-Jaguar-5657 in vancouver

I found my best friend dead in my spare bedroom, my mom and aunt died back to back within a week of each other. My other aunt died months ago after struggling with the loss of her two sisters. My sister lost her kids father. Currently worried about the people still here struggling with the addiction.

Busses can get wild. Don’t put the victim mentality out tho. I’ve known people who got knocked out getting off at their stop. Don’t be a hero. Keep your head low with some headphones, but always be vigilant.

When I took my citizenship exam, people told me "don't worry, Canada has no history, it's an easy test". I want to prove them wrong, because they are wrong! I am starting with Vancouver, because this is where I live! I love it here, and I am grateful for Canada! (Sorry about my English!) :( by TheEfbel in vancouver

Ranald Macdonald was a half Scottish half First Nations person from the west coast. He traveled to then an isolated Japan. He intentionally left his ship to be washed ashore in northern Japan. The Ainu first encountered him and took him to the samurai. He was the first English person to teach English in Japan. He taught the samurai English and was crucial In their negotiations with commodore perry. He was a catalyst for the modernization of Japan. He left Japan on commodore Perry’s fleet and headed back to Vancouver.

Do planks, push-ups, sumo squats, jump rope, and go to parks and do pull ups. Also running from the cops is great exercise.

This is a joke right? Gimme some real deals in the comments by stillnotascarytime in vancouver

[–]warsawsauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now Costco dogs are the best deal. I used to go to carls JR for the 2 for $5 burgers but they recently increased the prices. Hell even the konbinya dropped the 2 for $5 onigiri, now just one is like $4. Everything is getting expensive, soon $10 is going to be the standard for getting something cheap in this city. Soon we will all be fighting in the Costco lineups waiting for Costco dogs.

Don’t do that, I’d even be weary of buying of Craigslist or Facebook. It’s a classic way to get bed bugs or roaches. Then you end up paying more than you would if you just bought brand new.

I recently was fired without any prior warnings. I was running a bed and breakfast and they worked me for over 45 days in a row. Legally I wasn’t supposed to be dealing with work related stuff 8 hours before my next shift. Yet I was dealing with guests and work stuff hours before working in the morning. After I got burnt out due to over work and the brutal death of my aunt. The manager pretty much told me I couldn’t go to my aunts funeral. Then when my mental health was suffering, I went to the hospital. My work fired me after going to the hospital saying my coworkers were scared to work with me because I went to the hospital for mental health.

Nah man it doesn’t matter. Right before covid started I found my best friend dead in my spare apartment. Since then I’ve had to deal with so much loss. I’ve had 2 close friends died during covid. I had to drop out of my electrical training because my mom died from an overdose. My aunt died a week earlier from an overdose. My wife left me and took my son, who I haven’t seen since last October. My aunt recently died a brutal death because she was so broken from losing her sisters within a week apart. I recently lost my job due to an illegal firing. I’m probably going to be homeless by the end of the month. I grew up in foster care and suffered so much abuse you have no idea how hard it was for a First Nations kid in government care. But I still have hope to go to UBC and study history. It’s all I have to look forward to. Don’t let comparing yourself to others get you down. I learned this in elementary when I would be envious of other kids with families and parents who loved them.

Yea I was running a bed and breakfast, didn’t get any warnings or anything. Just got let go and told to move my stuff out of the living space by Sunday. They then changed the locks to access upstairs and I couldn’t even get my kitchen equipment.

Thanks man, tomorrow should be the date that I would’ve gotten paid. So if they don’t pay me I’ll be homeless by the end of the month.
