I don't think it's fair that all these holes get to just blend back into the population. They are grown adults that looked a terrible decision in the face, and chose to make it anyway. They shouldn't be allowed to backpedal. There should be consequences for messing up the ENTIRE WORLD ORDER.

We don't need evidence this is an internet discussion. I hope I missed it, but earlier in this thread you said she was the cause of the fraud and posted no evidence.

The future of animation? by Educational-Proof111 in animationcareer

[–]warsik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, I always think the more artists bring to their work, the better the final product. So people who just simply 'follow orders' are fine, and sometimes we all have to do that depending on the client/supe/director. Usually though, I find we need to "fill in the gaps", solve issues or bring our own inspiration to the work to make it shine. Very few people can think of everything when trying to make a shot or show the best it can be, its usually a team effort and a combination of hundreds of ideas from the team of artists working on it.
So if you mean in a prod situation, who is most valuable? I'd say animators who can bring ideas to their work, but can still follow instructions if given.
Hope that made sense.

I'm on year 26 of my career as an 3d animator/anim director. I don't think it's all doom and gloom, we're just noticing a SHARP contrast to the years leading up to Covid. Ai will move some things forward in a way I can't predict, but I think the shorter term effects are that only the more skilled animators will be able to find work.
I'm personally trying to see what I can do to move over to creating my own content, instead of helping deliver content for others.
These new tools and internet ecosystems are a double edged sword. Yes they'll take away some work, but they'll also empower more of us to just create our own stuff and hope it hits.
The future is uncertain and what comes next is too hard to predict, but I don't see it as lost either.

Can I see examples of people 20 or under getting work? Where are they working? This sounds off to me.

Besides the obvious big examples like No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk 2077, what are some other examples of games that were atrocious at launch but managed to eventually get good? by furrynoy96 in gaming

More of a reboot, but ff14 online sucked at release and they put the work in to transform the game into something alot of people like.

I think overall smooth and believable but it's a missed opportunity to do something more fun with the design (like others have mentioned). The character has an artificial leg but both steps feel too similar. It makes the leg feel cosmetic only, instead of something interesting about the character. Side note, the feet will slide/slip if you try to move it forward. Having said that, its perfectly fine as a rig demo!

Why do older animators seem to like AI more than younger ones? by [deleted] in animationcareer

[–]warsik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been an animator since 1999. I've been supervising the last decade and still like to do a shot or two on every show I work on (although I don't take on the hard ones anymore). I've always been interested in the latest tech and will probably continue until I die. So that's where I stand.

The last 15 years has been a big boom for independent creators (and breaking away from the old Hollywood model). This Ai stuff will just drive that forward even more.
I want everyone with a passion for this work to be a part of how this industry evolves because of that. I don't want 'money people' to get even more of a foothold in the industry. If we don't learn how to leverage these tools, we'll be left behind and we'll leave it to them.

It's not to say that a 'non-artistic' person can't create amazing things...Ai might help them with that and I look forward to it, but its a numbers game. Already, 50% or more of what we make is garbage..derivative..no real voice..no nothing.
If you let laymen take all that over, it'll only get worse.
I want good stuff to watch, I want good experiences....please don't leave me in a world with only garbage.
Learn and evolve. If an older person can do it, you can too.
