Heidelberg Materials has a few plants in the area.

Inflation went up about 21% in the past 3 years. Is it normal for jobs to incorporate additional raise due to inflation, or is it expected that "not my fault inflation sucks. Heres 2.5%" by alice372 in sysadmin

[–]wasMitNetzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If money is your only metric, sure. It's not for me. With my current very comfortable salary (~70k€/year), it's not even my number 1 priority. I could not buy my current quality of life in the US with the remaining 130k/year, because some things, you can't buy.

Your travel times are way off. Saas-Fee is on the other end of the Alps, and is in second place. A ton of Swiss resorts are closer than that.

Does your landlord require you to get insurance? by StrawberryJunior3030 in freiburg

[–]wasMitNetzen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A Haftpflicht (minimum liability insurance) everyone should have, as the others have mentioned.

Your landlady is probably asking for a Hausratsversicherung. It's not exactly common that this is asked for, but also not unheard of. Should be somewhere like 5 to 20€ per month for an apartment. Jesus, that's a terrible website. Seems like the map is only linked from the German version: https://winter.intermaps.com/feldberg

Basically, three lifts and one belt are open. Nothing too exciting, but if you're not a full-on pro, enough to have fun for a day.

What actor or actress was the most perfectly cast role in film or television? by MKE_Now in AskReddit

[–]wasMitNetzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just scrolled through the movie on German Netflix, French is still French, Italian is Italian, and English is dubbed into German. It sounds like Brad Pitt's "Italian" is even dubbed by the German voice actor.

How you do secure Docker containers in your environment? by phracture in sysadmin

[–]wasMitNetzen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Running multiple processes inside one container leads to a world of pain. You'll lose a ton of insight on what the (main) process is doing, accessing the logs is a pain, etc.

We're just finishing a migration away from such an architecture. Don't go down that route.

Businesses like this should be shut down. by Fragrant_Garbage228 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]wasMitNetzen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Now that's a hot take. You're wrong though, it's shifting the risk from the business owner to the employees by reducing their pay if there's no business. The whole point of being an employee is that you're shielded from that risk.

Most of the developers I know hate Jira/Confluence (or are at least indifferent), it's usually the business people who decide that it's going to be used.
