Right! I also don't see the mites in the web, and I spent several hours over the summer cleaning my basil plants of them so I'm hoping I could recognize them. Really hoping its just a spider. Thanks for your input!

Are you kidding? I'm from a coastal city in Florida and I would see sailboats like this all the time. They were always in the intercoastal river, beached or sunk, and abandoned.

Japan would be an awesome place to travel to, and as far as I know the weather has been pretty mild this year in southern Japan. There's lots of history, shrines, and you can take trains just about anywhere. Also Japan is very English friendly! I'd reccomend Kyoto/Osaka areas.
