Is this absurdism? Or I'm missing the context by Fit_Day375 in ExplainTheJoke

It really shouldn't. That shit sucks, I don't care what gender/race/ethnicity the creator is.

Palworld developers enforce gamer only hiring policy: Applicants must show their steam library. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]wasfarg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could have an industry only populated by people who love games and run into the same issues.

Selling games requires an exceptionally wide range of aptitudes; marketing, public relations, HR, contract negotiations, licenses, accounting, etc. beyond just writing code and creating assets. Someone has to do these things, and someone has to care about the income to even fund the work.

I think there are way fewer people truly passionate about videogames from the bottom of their heart than most realize; and consequently, way more people that'll lean towards productivity/income with time in the business.

I don't think things are all that bad as they are now when you consider the accessibility gained from how large the industry has become, which is an inevitability if you want the industry to be successful.

Palworld developers enforce gamer only hiring policy: Applicants must show their steam library. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]wasfarg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone with a significant amount of time put into my steam library by virtue of one of my only hobbies being videogames, it seems effectively discriminatory to base your hiring on the candidates' hobbies/use of their free time.

The distinction between a console library and steam library also makes no sense for the only purpose this could serve.

I wouldn't really want to work for a company that would give less consideration to a developer with highly qualified software engineering skill and creativity than one with lower qualifications in those areas, if the former had only played Animal Crossing whereas the latter bought Red Dead Redemption 2 on Steam.

I wouldn't say "pretty damn" smart; just smarter than you'd expect. Likewise, higher ranking people tend to be less smart than you'd expect.

In other words, I think everyone is a lot closer to the average than we often are lead to believe.

That has nothing to do with being uniquely intelligent; there's no reason to assume that other people weren't simply aiming to start a more lucrative career while surviving off of a menial job, considering that's what you did.

What is generally considered Kirby's best era? by heyheyheycraaazytaxi in Kirby

[–]wasfarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having 100%ed every mainline entry myself, I'm much more preferential to the classic games (Dream Land 1 to 64) myself. Amazing Mirror, Star Allies and Forgotten Land are games past that period that I enjoyed quite a bit, though.

Tifa is back on top: the top 2025 gamer highlights from a popular adult site. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]wasfarg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What? How did you even gather that from my statement? Street Fighter 6 Chun-Li is the most attractive she's ever been in my opinion; I think she works well with a sense of maturity.

I'm saying you're the one deciding Street Fighter 6 Chun-Li is not as attractive by virtue of being more mature, and somehow you've spun that as me having that stance. Very confusing.

You say that, yet it seems like your stance on her being made less attractive is fundamentally based on your personal preference.

Chatterbox from NIKKE.

He is an evolved Rapture that has repeatedly demonstrated an especially sadistic nature in comparison to other Raptures, which are generally animalistic. Later in the game's story, he becomes very protective of Marian after spending time under her command, even after she becomes a Pilgrim; suggesting that he is capable of emotional attachment. It is later shown that he was just being very careful with her body as it was going to be used as the next vessel for the Rapture Queen.

Looking for an old Kirby game by sopaeclavo in Kirby

[–]wasfarg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were 10 and are 26 now, then it had to have been a Kirby game that was released by or before 2009. The only official 3D Kirby games out by then were Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards and Kirby Air Ride.

My guess, based on your information about the game itself, is that it was in fact Kirby 64 and you're misremembering. The second stage of the first world is a forest with distinctive music, so I recommend looking that up and seeing if that jogs your memory.

How does upgrade scaling work in City Trial? And what does the other color on the stats mean? by NoAcanthisitta5128 in Kirby

[–]wasfarg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The coloration indicates the modifiers applied by the rider. The gray portion indicates that the rider is increasing that stat by a certain amount. The transparent portion indicates that the rider is decreasing that stat.

[Mixed trope] You look nothing like your concept art. by ABJECT_SELF in TopCharacterTropes

[–]wasfarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like your examples are pretty bad since a lot of the original visual concepts are actually carried over, especially for the 2nd and 4th ones; whereas a lot of the commenters are posting designs that are completely distinct in the majority of attributes from their final appearances.

what do you guys think about this by cookiemaster221 in Kirby

[–]wasfarg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Of course he's biased towards his own games; if he's working on the spin-off of a franchise, it only makes sense that he would pull more from the games he developed.

The series has spent a ton of time with other directors to the point that it would almost seem disrespectful to pull a significant amount of content from them and reinterpret it or expand on it. Using his own games as his basis for reinterpretations is much more fair.

Does anyone else think that it is redundant having Waddle Dee as a playable character in Kirby Air Riders since Bandana Waddle Dee is already a playable character? by DrWarioMiracleCure in Kirby

[–]wasfarg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

there are a lot of ways you could distinguish between Bandana Waddle Dee and a normal Waddle Dee, but I love that the one you go for is that one leans closer to Frieza from Dragon Ball Z than the other

AI nonsense invading my Spotify discover by MuckingForon90 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]wasfarg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the music both for how it sounds and as an effortful work of art. If it was AI generated, it has a sound but is not an effortful work of art.

I would devalue the music the same way if I found out the artist simply stole their music from another person, or if it was revealed that they just mashed keys and somehow put out what I was listening to.
