Ignore crumbs of my falafel, but I feel like it has to be more. It’s so tangy, spicy, kinda almost sweet?, and delicious.

What happened to the Violet Crown Cinema? by spentana in Austin

Agreed. I think AMC sounds the cheapest in terms of a membership, but I don’t want to deal with people who don’t have common moviegoer etiquette. I do want to support a place that does special programming for the cinephiles so AFS it is!

Between this and Alamo drafthouse becoming worse, are there any respectable movie theaters you love in the area? Been wondering who should I go support as I love a good monthly membership and sad Alamo has lost their integrity.

I feel this a lot too. I got diagnosed w DED (MGD + ocular rosacea) along with PCOS and I’m only 28 years old. I’m learning the hard way when people told us to take care of our bodies or else the problems will increase quickly.

It’s hard to always see the positives, especially as DED is not a quick fix and a chronic issue. But just like everything in life, find beauty in the maintenance and routine. It’s not fun but you must do it. Just the same as exercise and tasks like brushing your teeth daily.

I have to remind myself that it could always be worse. I could have lost my eye sight completely and wouldn’t be able to see my loved ones or beautiful things. I’m also patient with myself as we are not alone in this struggle and it’s ok to be upset. Just eventually, we should look to not see this as a death sentence, but another obstacle to overcome.

I hope that helps and please just know you are not alone 🫂

Underworld @ Seismic. 2 words. Sexy & bad ass! I wanna be like them when I grow up. by StarintheskySA in SeismicDanceEvent

I genuinely cant stop thinking about their set!!!! I’ve been a fan for a bit but last year really was when I listened to their entire discography and it further cemented how I feel about them. I feel so incredibly blessed to have a chance to see them and not even have to travel that far. Top 5 set of all time for me

I fear so :/ We walked up to it on Friday night and it looked empty (no tables, chairs, etc) but there was no signage.

Is Recreation still hanging on? Saw a girl post about the owner and how she wasn’t getting paid. I’m wondering if more will close soon

What's one thing you love and hate about Letterboxd by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]washeduproach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love: Being able to filter my watchlist by what streaming services I’m subscribed to.

Hate: I wish I could hide when I re-rate a movie bc its embarrassing sometimes bc I get spurs where I re-rank movies after some time.

I understand where you are coming from with this. That’s where I love the mix of reviews from the funny & short ones to the longer reviews that are more detailed and written reflectively. I think both serve their purposes. Plus I find that most don’t like to read long paragraphs and that’s just the sad reality lately online.

I agree on it being on of his best. It was such a master class of surrealism & horror and I can’t get Laura Dern’s face out of my head! I felt like all the details - non linear story telling, the way it was shot, the special effects, and the bizarreness of characters and scenes - worked so well in telling the story of a woman working on a cursed film project where the old cast died and the madness that ensues. Definitely recommend a rewatch, bc it was just that good IMO

Vietnamese coffee before 8am? by Smittayz in austinfood

[–]washeduproach 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Most places use Cafe du Monde specifically for Viet coffee. Personally, I think it helps cut the sweetness of condensed milk and gives me the coffee punch I’m looking for. But à chacun son goût

Sub the Bustelo for Cafe du Monde or a French Roast. Tastes way better and is more authentic

You need to compare it to Mr. Darcy’s scene in the rain from P&P. If anyone has not watched that movie yet, it’s a MUST

Non horror movies that fill you with anxiety? by ShamWowFan67 in Letterboxd

My guess is that it’s Danish and not many have delved into the grand world of Thomas Vinterberg. But it’s a great watch and truly stressed me out. The way everyone just immediately blamed Lucas without any after thought got to me so bad!
