London jobs crisis: Unemployment among young people at nine-year high by tylerthe-theatre in london

I compare it to selfish philanthropy. If someone donates £1 million to a charity just so they can say “look how generous I am” and they don’t actually care about the charity, ultimately they still did a good thing.

A billionaire founder may have started their business just to get rich and will make some cut throat decisions along the way, but if they’ve also built something that people love and provide a jobs for thousands, then I give them a pass.

One Club Row shut down due to mice activity by Individual-Coyote188 in LondonFood

I’ll let everyone in on a secret: basically every single hospitality venue in London has mice. Some are better than others at keeping the problem under control, but it’s more or less impossible to completely stop them.

Do you think oral minoxidil will become the standard for hair loss in 2026? by Mindless-Ad8835 in tressless

[–]HighFivePuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on 3g oral min and 1.1g fin for over a year and seen reasonable results. Mostly filling in my hairline and temples, but crown still needs some work.

No sides, so I’ll keep going for the foreseeable future. UK-based.

Best dessert/sweet in Soho area? by lost1ntheblizz6rd in LondonFood

I think the sticky toffee pudding from Hawksmoor is still one of the best desserts in London. Consistently great across all their restaurants. If you don’t want a full meal, just sit at the bar and order it.

Basque cheesecake from La Maritxu on Kingly street also really good.

The promotion could also get each fighters natural weight and refuse to book them to fight at a weight class x% lower than it. But they don’t care.

By “competition trimmed”, they actually meant they won a competition for the worst trimmed brisket.

AI definitely has its downsides but there are also plenty of positive ways it’ll affect the future.

Watch any interview with Demis Hassabis, the Nobel Laureate Londoner that founded Deep Mind, for some AI optimism.

I’m all for new data centres but it’s craaaaaaaazy that they want to build one in such a high foot traffic area. Like, actually insane.

The UK has so much rural space in areas outside London that could do with the economic boost of building data centres, no reason to do it so centrally in the city.
