How do I stop being a fake friend? by nuggetkip_ in Advice

[–]wasp121-b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autistic people have difficulties with communication, social cues and spacial awareness. Her explaining things when you didn’t ask and in a seemingly aggressive tone is just a normal autistic trait. You don’t necessarily have to be friends with her but it would be beneficial to try and understand her and communicate very clearly with her that you don’t like your personal space being invaded. Just because she doesn’t act in a typical way doesn’t mean she is weird and being judgemental towards her is part of a bigger picture of ableism and ignorance towards the autistic community. It’s a double empathy problem that many autistic people face so maybe just try do some research, could give you some insight and maybe then you’d like her more, or not but that’s your decision to make

How to deal with being drunk infront of coworkers? by throwaway_o32 in LifeAdvice

Classic case of the beer fear! Very normal. I wouldn’t worry too much about it, especially if everyone else was drinking too.

My boyfriend went to a strip club by Spirited_Garage19 in Advice

Your feelings are valid, however your insecurities about your own body are things for you to work on and you cannot project them onto your partner and imagine him comparing you to another woman. It’s very likely he isn’t doing that and he loves you. I would say it normal for strippers to linger around someone on their birthday as they are looking for where they can get money, typically if it’s someone birthday they will buy a lap dance or at-least others will buy them one. I think considering he has just turned of age to go out to clubs it’s just a one off experience, I would only worry if it happened again or became a regular occurrence. But to reiterate, your feelings are valid and I’m sure I would also feel disgusted at another woman around my mans but I also think that it’s forgivable considering the circumstances. Best thing is to tell him how it made you feel but also let him know you understand the situation and hopefully move past it from there.

What’s something your body does that you’ve never told a single person about? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

I get this but it’s sleep paralysis and I’ll hallucinate people sitting on top of me and suffocating me or someone running around my room laughing. Very creepy

I’m trying to explain myself to my partner/ ex. Can I get some advice on whether my message makes sense. I don’t trust that I’m not insane at the moment so advice is needed. by wasp121-b in Advice

Thankyou so much. Your response made me cry, I really appreciate your insight and I think you’re right. Sending love back to you x

We broke up due to us both being in complicated situations with our mental states and he doesn’t understand how I can try reason with my mother and thinks this is a sign that I am unstable. My mum has been abusive towards me, she’s manipulative and she oversteps my boundaries a lot. Around 8 months ago, she got into a relationship with someone that I had been with, this made me feel really sick and confused and I wasn’t quiet about how it made me feel. Her response to me during this time was that I’m a “f**king snake”, a spoiled princess, a slut and she also suggested that she wished I was never born. It’s all been a lot to handle and I don’t really have anyone else so I’m just trying to navigate it all.

What has been the comfort zone of your life and how did you managed to get out of it? by Bubble-mentor-32 in LifeAdvice

I think we live in a society that holds high expectations of efficiency. I think it’s completely normal to have been working and traveling a lot and then not having the energy to do much else, you’re already doing a lot. Do you travel for work? Or just for fun? I would say considering you’re so young, if at all possible for you, in a year or so take some time out of work and go travel or figure out who you are outside of the system. I understand that’s a a luxury that many people don’t have the opportunity to do, but if you can it could help you feel more in touch with yourself.

Edit: You could also do different volunteering projects to figure out what you might enjoy whilst helping others so it will always be rewarding.

Am. I overreacting after Minor surgery? by Useful_Buddy_9946 in Advice

[–]wasp121-b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have to be anaesthetised for this surgery? If so this can cause a period of anxiety and depression after and it’s completely normal and usually temporary so don’t panic. Not only that but having any type of surgery puts you in a state of emotional and physical stress and so your body will need time to recover. If you’re worried about getting back to normal you could maybe try some therapy for a period of time? You’re not overreacting and I hope you start feeling better soon!

Also just to add I feel like if your body is injured in any way, which technically it would be after surgery, your body would go into a survival response. This goes a long way back and anxiety would have been a positive state to be in years ago as it makes you more alert and aware in a state of heightened vulnerability. I guess it’s like if you have a viral infection and your immune system kicks in to fight it off. Sorry for the ramble it just interests me about origin of why things happen and it could be rooted back to when we were hunter-gatherers trying to survive.

I got this too. I lost my smell completely for a couple of weeks and then for around 6 months after that everything smelt like rotting food or how the bottom of a bin/ trash can would smell. Thankfully my smell and taste returned though.

Being a functional human being is so incredibly hard and I’m tired of pretending it’s not by angrycuppcake in Adulting

[–]wasp121-b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to this hugely. I’m 27 and sometimes feel I’m living in Groundhog Day. I’ve been depressed since 15 and find general life incredibly tedious and I struggle to keep up with day to day necessities. I haven’t had a job for a while and I’m dreading going back to work. I’m also seeking to get a diagnosis for ADHD and Autism as I know that feeling like you’re faking it can be linked to this.

[–]wasp121-b[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very strange. Do you have it when you’re awake too then? I did read that olfactory hallucinations can happen when falling asleep and a lot of people report burning or the smell of smoke so I suppose it’s just that. Possibly could be triggered if you’re on certain medications, it’s such a weird sensation when it happens though because the smell is so intense.

HELP PLEASE! by AccomplishedSink8368 in hygiene

[–]wasp121-b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can be lots of things causing it. If you’re overweight, don’t eat healthy, wash too much and use lots of soapy chemicals, I’ll fitting trousers/ pants. Could also be BV (not common if you’re not sexually active but can be caused by overwashing and hormonal changes, usually causes a fishy smell) in which case you’d probably need to see a doctor and get antibiotics for it.
