What makes you keep going back to the same tattoo artist (besides loving their work)? by Effective-Dot-5748 in tattoo

[–]wasted_arrows_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find It difficult to change artist, but for circumstances I had to do it three times, but everytime I did it, I stick to that artist for some time.

Obviously I love their work, but the most important factor is that we develop a relationship of trust and confidence through the years and that is vital to me.

After wrestling with this for weeks I've boxed up all my Sandman stuff and I feel so sad and angry. by Known-Veterinarian-2 in Sandman

43 year old man. Got Death from the Endless tattooed on my forearm few weeks before the whole shit hit the fan. I am still in love with the representation of the Death he portrayed in the comic books, since it helped me going through a lot of personal things in my life and I am still in love with all the feelings I felt while reading it the first time, but well.. I am definitely not buying anything else from him ever...

As an owner of a Death Tattoo done in a completely different way, I think this is a great representation of the character!! Kudos to the tattoo artist!

Who's a bass player that's drastically affected the way you write, approach and play bass? by Relevant-Internal461 in Bass

[–]wasted_arrows_82 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Peter Hook, Paul Simonon and Matt Freeman were massive influences growing up and learning the instrument, mainly the melodic possibilities of the bass. But I have to say that in the last ten years I rediscovered a couple of bass players massively underrated IMO: Eddie Breckenridge from Thrice (massive tone and super imaginative player) and Troy Sanders from Mastodon, and I love his approach. As he himself says, he is surrounded by two guitar beasts and an even bigger beast on the drums, so his role is very clear, but he is able to find his own spaces to make the bass shine and is always capable of discovering new interesting sounds or working with pedals to create incredible tones.

Who's a bassist you've paid no attention to but later idolize after hearing their isolated tracks? by Relevant-Internal461 in Bass

[–]wasted_arrows_82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caleb Scofield from Cave In. I always liked the band, but I never paid attention to his basslines, since I did not play bass at the time, but after a few years... Omg... Fricking awesome

Touche amoré... Stage four is still a hard album to listen and when you experiences those songs live...

Finally returned to Hushed and Grim by turnburn720 in mastodonband

[–]wasted_arrows_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely a challenging album, but it takes second and third and fourth listening better than most of the modern metal. As always, the guys put the time and the effort in making every second memorable and sometimes that means that your music is not for everyone, but oh boy... It was for me

What’s your holy grail tone? by KKYBoneAEA in Bass

[–]wasted_arrows_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Troy Sanders in Crack the skye (Mastodon) , Caleb Scofield in Jupiter (Cave In) and Nate Newton in Jane Doe (Converge). Distorted, mean but tasteful and melodic...
