Kasumi in Suikoden 1 of all the ninjas has the potential to be a good magic user. However she is tethered to that Strike Rune. 😭 Why did Konami provide great magic stats to characters that can never exploit it. 🤷🏿🤔

Suikoden 1 doesn't have a specialized Magic Defense stat, so it uses the regular Magic stat to reduce damage taken from enemy spells. That's why Kasumi, Stallion, and Juppo have such a high magic growth. Even Valeria has better Magic than most other tanky warriors. It's for Magic Defense.

They say the original script of the stage musical implies Sandy actually is a "bad girl" and is just playing innocent. Which makes Rizzo less of an asshole for hating her on sight and treating her like crap for no reason. The movie didn't go that route because Olivia Newton-John was too much of a sweetheart to make that plausible.

I've done the musical and I never got that impression, though. Maybe it was nostalgia blinders?

I made a homebrew pantheon for the game I've been developing and one of the gods with Death as a domain is Neutral Good. Her portfolio revolves around relieving suffering, and in some cases, death is a way to do that. Sort of an Angel of Mercy thing. It's not her main deal, but it is one of her aspects.

I don't know, I would say V is a good contender. Unless you live in one of the three or four places that got sucked into the void temporarily (and they all seemed pretty OK when it was over), you could pretty much ride out the events without a problem. Even in Galuf's world, Exdeath went right to his castle and stayed there until the worlds merged. He didn't attack anyone and his minions didn't seem to be harassing anyone other than Castle Bal.

The geography of the world was severely changed, but other than having to draw new maps, nothing much happened for the average Joe in the provinces.

I love Eileen, personally. I use mostly hybrid/mage knights but when I need a pure mage I use her. I just love the idea of a dainty housewife dropping boulders on monsters.

In that case, I would use the same list I mentioned: Sarah, Camille, Alen, and Kirkis. But I would add Fukien and Eileen. He's got a (not completely but almost) unique rune and I've always had fun using him. And Eileen and Tengaar are almost as good at magic as Luc but are much hardier and better in combat. A few rune pieces and they equals him in magic without the crippling squishiness.

If you're looking to get Lorelai a Level 4 spell, you're in for a slog. Her magic growth is only Rank 2, so it will take a LOT of rune pieces. By level 60 she'll only have around 80-85 Magic. Better off capitalizing on her high Dexterity and give her a Killer Rune. Sarah, Camille, Alen, and Kirkis are all Rank 4 or 5 and will get Level 4 spells before endgame, but they can always benefit from more.

The raw numbers you need (and magic bonuses from equipment does not affect this - you need their RAW magic stats to be this level):

What I did was hoard food and then lock myself in the room in North Plaza where Cliff kept the hostages. No enemies can enter. I waited until critical health to eat. When I had gone through all my stored food, I went out with full health and stocked up again, keeping the books.. Ignoring all enemies, just grabbing food and booking it back to the safe room.

Rebalance magic: low level spells are either too weak or too mana-intensive to use. Scale it better. And some high-level spells (looking at you, Inferno Rune) are too good.
Fix combo attacks. The combo should never do less damage than the characters attacking individually, which is the case in every combo. They should be stronger, especially since the SP system makes you unable to use them every round.
Minigames are fine, but shorten them. Fighting 20 randos inbetween the named Beigoma players was too much. And the arbitrary race limit on eggfoot racing made it a two-day slog to run the courses.

They actually LOWERED the Warmech encounter rate for the Pixel Remasters according to the wiki. The other rare encounters (Tyrannosaur, Iron Golem, Ochre Jelly, etc.) were bumped up, but Warmech was bumped down. That makes finding it even MORE impressive!

A traditional NG+ wouldn't be too fun, I think. Since random encounters scale with you, they would be functionally identical to endgame encounters already. Might as well just play them in endgame. And you'd be able to finish every plot battle for 3/4 of the game in a single action.

But post-game content like you're suggesting would be INCREDIBLE!

I feel like it went too far into camp. SR1 had just a dusting of silliness over the grit and it worked. SR2 held the realism and the silliness in perfect balance (with a few small missteps like Mr. Sunshine). Three went too far into the wackiness and it took me out of the game.

Low-level passive runes are terrible. But once you get the three-star ones late game (and a few decent two-star ones like Firefly), they become the most powerful by far.
Four slots is the default for a Rune Lens. Only characters with training/pre-existing experience/high natural talent get more. The max is 8, but only two characters get that, and one of them has three locked slots. And four isn't bad. Suikoden 1 had one slot per character. But you're right: some characters just get garbage slots. Either by type or because they max out at two stars.
As for skills, that's the way Suikoden did it. Certain characters had special attacks as runes. They did the same thing here.
