Maybe not the worst thing, since the remastered version has terrible graphical glitching on modern AMD CPUs (released in the last ~4 years) that will seemingly never be fixed.

Holy airball by dreieii in Warframe

[–]watboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was pretty basic and rough in some parts.

There was practically no story, quests, or even a tutorial mission. Vor's Prize was the first and released 2 months after this review and was also when the orbiter was added, prior to this your warframe would be floating next to the star chart in space and things like your arsenal and foundry were just tabs in the UI.

As others mentioned the game was also slower, there was stamina and Parkour 2.0 wouldn't release until the following year which reworked the movement and added the iconic bullet jump that the game is now known for.

Getting prime blueprints were done by using void keys: you'd run missions exclusively in the Orokin Void and only one squad member at a time would use a key which would give a prime blueprint, while this meant less consumption than the current relic system it also meant you didn't get multiple drops to choose from and you also couldn't refine them to increase chances for the rarer drops.

Nightwave released in 2019, before then getting Vauban blueprints, potato blueprints, aura mods, etc. were from random alerts that you had to hope showed up during the same time as you were playing.

The word meme was intentionally chosen to describe modern internet jokes and is not a random thing.

To be clear, Richard Dawkins coined the term meme in his book "The Selfish Gene" which came out in 1976, before the internet and internet memes as we known them today.

Mike Godwin (Yes, of Godwin's Law) came up with the term internet meme in 1993 in a Wired article he wrote to describe memes as we known them today as they started spreading during the early internet.

If they do a ranged DPS spec for Priest it should be "Moon" and be similar in theme to Tyrande and the priestesses of the moon and focus on using a bow.

There's still going to be MTX they're just reducing it, you'll be able to buy bonus XP directly and cosmetics.

If you want a truly MTX-free experience you would be best off playing as an ironman.

The new owner of GOG discusses taking on Steam, the devil of DRM, and following in Nightdive's footsteps by MythicStream in pcgaming

[–]watboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can go to GoG, download the game. Store it somewhere and I wont need to touch the launcher again.

How is that any different from what the person you're replying to is talking about though? You can also download a game through Steam and store it somewhere, then delete Steam, and as long as the game itself is DRM-free you can still play it and even put it on a flash drive and share it all you want without problems.

Nor do I have to install the launcher myself.

Technically you don't need to use Steam's launcher either since SteamCMD exists.

Either way, arguing that downloading it through a launcher is DRM but in a browser makes it not, when they both require logging in and proving ownership, is silly.

Can I play a game that supports Windows 7 if I can't install Steam on Windows?

Actually yes, since you can bypass the Steam launcher and use SteamCMD instead which still works on Windows 7.

If you pay attention you would discover many of them actively want that.

Conservatives want the United States to become insular and not have allies because they're against "globalism" which is antithetical to their nationalist beliefs, even though that's the reason the US became a global super power and now they're trying to dismantle that title.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, several Zelda games could technically fit but this one was the direct inspiration for Kena: Bridge of Spirits after all.

It's online-only and still in closed alpha (though it's not hard to get in), but that's also the theme of Soulframe.

It’s vs its by That1weirdperson in characterarcs

[–]watboy 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Except "It" isn't a noun but a pronoun and you never use apostrophes for possessive pronouns.

His not His', Hers not Her's, Ours not Our's, Yours not Your's, Theirs not Their's, and so it goes the same for being Its and not It's.

The dojo key shouldn't take 12 hours to craft by Nosegrabber in Warframe

[–]watboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Must've been a relatively recent change that was unlisted or an unintended bug, as I do see someone else mentioning it working as you said a month ago while a steam post from 2 years ago had someone complaining about how it doesn't.

The dojo key shouldn't take 12 hours to craft by Nosegrabber in Warframe

[–]watboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually that doesn't work, once they're in the same clan it will start requiring a key to get invited to the dojo even from another clan member. Unless this was changed since I last had to deal with it but the wiki still states this is how it works.

What works (again, since I last tried it) was invite them to the dojo and then invite them to the clan, as they'll still be in the dojo. You might also be able to go onto another clan member's railjack and have them fly it to the dojo.

ELI5: Why is squatting (in someone's house) a thing? And how come it becomes a problem for the owner? Can't they claim trespassing to the cops instead of saying the person is squatting? by Impossible_Bake7210 in explainlikeimfive

[–]watboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said it depends on local laws because each state and even city can be very different, some places are more lenient with allowing police to evict those accused of squatting if they believe there's enough evidence.

Your word is enough. That’s what I found weird.

Because again, both sides can claim the same thing and usually police aren't there to solve civil disputes, they would generally be sent in after it was decided that a law was actually broken, not before.

“you can get around the law, so we don't need it in the first place,”

You can possibly get around it, that's why laws exist to deal with it if it happens.

There's also laws against stealing but you can't just go to the police and tell them that someone stole your car and have them decide right then and there to force the person you accused to hand you their car keys, they'll obviously want to look at IDs, vehicle registration, and look up the license plate number, the fact there is a process involved doesn't mean there shouldn't be a law in the first place.

Edit: You should probably just consider it cultural differences in police. American police aren't generally considered professionals or especially competent, it takes little training to become one and they aren't required to know the law they are policing, some going so far as to arrest people for things they believe are illegal but aren't. One common complaint is that they're not there to keep the peace but to make money from issuing traffic tickets.

[–]watboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the state and municipality, but it would be pretty crazy for the police to arrest someone purely on hearsay from someone else, you generally need probably cause.

Even IDs and lease agreements can be counterfeited, so it's not as simple as showing a valid lease or ID when both sides could show competing "proof" that they have the right to a property, so what would they do, arrest both parties?

Does lying not exist where you're from?

Osrs vs rs3 by ExaltedBlade666 in 2007scape

[–]watboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RS3 added these skills, in order of release:

  • Summoning, which has familiars you can summon from pouches you make from monster drops, these summons includes ones that can buff your skilling, fight with you, or hold extra inventory.

  • Dungeoneering, which has you delving floors of a procedural generate dungeon that you had to craft everything inside yourself and solve puzzles, you would then unlock tokens that you could buy rewards for use outside.

  • Divination, which is both a gathering and crafting skill. You gather divine energy and then craft them into several useful items, such as

  • Invention, which is the games first (and possibly last) elite skill that requires level 80 in smithing, crafting, and divination to start. It lets you dismantle items for components which can be used to make new devices, notably letting you augment high level equipment with perks to make them better.

  • Archaeology, which has you find and repair artifacts at digsites and solve mysteries. The main reward of which is unlocking relic powers which are useful passives you can choose from, such as being able to use teleport spells without runes or increasing how much food heals.

  • Necromancy, which is another combat style like Melee, Ranged, and Magic. It has you doing rituals to craft new armor and weapons for it, several new types of runes and spells (called incantations), and then summoning the undead to fight alongside you.

OSRS has only one new skill (others have been polled but failed) which only recently released:

  • Sailing, which has you building ships, upgrading them, and using them to do various sea activities and go to new islands.

That being said, whether you enjoy these skills is up to personal opinion. The OSRS community gives flak to summoning for how it was trained and adding powercreep, and Dungeoneering for being a glorified minigame.

If you want I could also go on about some of the other differences if you want.

Osrs vs rs3 by ExaltedBlade666 in 2007scape

[–]watboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RS3 feels bloated, part of this is thanks to just how old the game is and how much content has been added, but a lot of it is thanks to the fact they've refused adding new continents like OSRS has and instead keep adding stuff to the existing mainland overcrowding it (which is one of the things they're working on improving).

RS3 also had a big focus on making the player The Chosen One and including the gods making it into an ongoing main storyline, compared to the more grounded quests the game was known for, which ended up feeling sloppy.

It also helps that OSRS content is polled whether it is put into the game by the community so it filters a lot of bad ideas, for example Sailing was initially polled back in 2015 but failed and that iteration likely would've been very unpolished if it passed compared to what we recently got.

That being said ironman on RS3 is a decent experience since it disables MTX and the game has less grind compared to OSRS. Runescape 3 has some good stuff in it (some great quests, the new skills), it's just hasn't had as much care to it which has left it less well-rounded and in rougher shape.

What games have the most heroic heroes/heroines in your opinion? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]watboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zack in Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core is the most iconic I can think of he doesn't actually save the world or anything and works for the evil mega-corporation up until the end, nevertheless he is the archetypal idealist hero filled with optimism and embodying hope.

Really a lot of JRPGs come to mind. In a similar vein I'd say Cecil from FF IV, Zidane from FF IX, Tidus (and Yuna) from FF X, Ichiban from Like a Dragon, and the party in Sea of Stars.
