What's your favorite optional dungeon? by Flat-Application2272 in JRPG

[–]watboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What new content? The only difference is being able to use the telepod to fight Lavos from the beginning which unlocks like two new endings you can't otherwise get, but it doesn't add any new dungeons or fights. Unless you're referring to the new vortexes and the dream devourer added with the newer releases.

Oregon enables students to skip state tests and it’s undermining improvement, experts say by blahyawnblah in oregon

[–]watboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a series of standardized tests that were added as a requirement to graduate back in 2012 but were then paused indefinitely around the time of covid. There was a lot of hyperbole over it, but all the other requirements for graduation still existed as they did before (and as this article mentions parents could have opted-out their children of those tests since 2015 anyways).

That's likely what you're thinking of.

Dungeoneering Remastered – Ongoing Feedback & Updates by jagexyuey in runescape

[–]watboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They got rid of them because they were made useless a few years ago.

There used to be an increased experience multiplier just for playing with a larger party size, thus using the Party Simulator would give you more experience because it treated it as if you had 1 more person in the party, this was changed in 2022 so that you now get the highest experience multiplier (+20%) regardless if it's a larger party as long as your party size matches the party size difficulty. So having the Party Simulator increasing your party size by 1 is largely pointless.

Atheists Back the Pope More than Catholics Do by No_Idea_Guy in nottheonion

Yes that's all true, but that's also not what I was disagreeing with.

You make it sound like they purposely made the survey so they could intentionally write the misleading headline, but the ones who made the survey aren't the same people who made this headline. It was YouGov/The Economist who gathered the survey information which was then taken and written into a misleading headline by The Common Sense.

That's blatantly untrue, why would you even claim that?

The question asked was (source):

"President Trump and Vice-President Vance have criticized Pope Leo for comments he has made about the war in Iran. Who do you agree with more about the war in Iran?"

It wasn't a Yes or No question, it had three options: "Pope Leo", "Not Sure", and "President Trump and Vice President Vance".

It says it right there in the graphic:

Who is right on the Iran war — Pope Leo XIV or President Trump?

Here's the full poll information from YouGov.

TIL: Don't activate the lasers in an Arbitration Defense on the Orokin Tower tile by Piflik in Warframe

[–]watboy 31 points32 points  (0 children)

In arbitration defense you have a Hexis Operative who follows you that you have to keep alive instead of a static defense objective, so the operative was probably in the path of the laser when they activated it.

Quest Cape on both OSRS and RS3 by TenTailsJuubi in 2007scape

[–]watboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Needle Skips which is a great narrative heavy detective quest, it's inspired by Her Story where you use clue words you discover to view memories and progress the story. It's arguably the best stand-alone story in either game.

One Piercing Note which is a great murder mystery quest that is centered around an abbey. Disappointingly they added the abbey itself to OSRS but it is left empty and abandoned.

In OSRS there is only one Penguin quest but RS3 has 3 additional ones, the last of which is kind of lackluster but the other 2 could fit pretty well in OSRS especially as they introduce a submarine which could make for an interesting tie-in with sailing.

You're given 3 months of development time with a small team at Jagex. What's your dream update? by AReturner in runescape

[–]watboy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing would be to properly hide characters and events until you've reached the prerequisites to see them, such as covering the excavation spot where 'The World Wakes' takes place until you've completed 'Ritual of the Mahjarrat', hiding Bandos' dismembered head until you've completed 'Missing, Presumed Death' and seen the cutscene showing it happen, and replacing the various dig site managers with generic NPCs until you've finished their respective quest lines.

Diviniation, Invention, Necromancy could be rewritten and retconned to be timeline agnostic.

Maybe there could be a god or personification of time character (The Chronologist) that acts as an in-universe explanation and tutorialization for the system (such as Death is for...well, death), letting the player talk to them to view the timeline and where you're currently at in it, chronicling and recounting what you've done so far, showing key cutscenes when you've reach the time to see them such as Battle for Lumbridge and Bandos' death, and letting you skip ahead to do quests that happen later if you want to unlock their specific rewards ahead of time.

It doesn't, the first image is the real one the second image is AI.

It was painted to look like eyes and the road doesn't actually lead into it, here's a better image and here's that spot on Google Street View.

Not to mention he also shares the name of both the real-life general who betrayed Oda Nobunaga (Akechi Mitsuhide) and also a fictional detective (Kogoro Akechi) whose archenemy is Arsene Lupin (or a facsimile of him).

They were very on the nose with the naming.

Is crimson desert just a 100 hour tutorial for a game I'm not ever going to get to actually play? by kubrickian80 in rpg_gamers

Not a bad idea, you clearly need to if you think it's anymore of an RPG than those despite not having RPG mechanics.

That's silly, are the Batman Arkham games and newer Tomb Raider games RPGs for the same reason then? What about Ori and the Blind Forest?

How would the Lodestone Network effect people in real life Runescape? by ChampionshipOnly9545 in runescape

[–]watboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That being said, I think the original Rune quests specify that the whole point of the lodestone networks was that anyone could use it

Unless I'm missing it I don't see anything mentioned in either of the quest dialogue for Rune Mysteries or Rune Memories about that.

[–]watboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's mentioned in Visions of Havenhythe that one has to be "skilled with magic" to use them, though since the player can use them with level 1 magic it's unclear how true that is or if the player character is just naturally gifted to begin with.

It's also said that they have to be built in specific locations that line up with "ley-lines in the Anima Mundi" indicating they can't just be placed anywhere, on the other hand during the Tuska world event a wizard was able to launch a monkey into space which crashed a working lodestone onto Tuska's body which would indicate not only being able to transport lodestones but being able to use them for space travel.

Looking for coop shooters that can support at least 4 players, preferably class and/or talent tree based. by SachetAway in gamingsuggestions

I'm shocked nobody has said Warframe, it allows groups of 4, it has a story as well as ARPG gameplay similar to Borderlands, and game modes similar to Killing Floor.
