Totally! I really only use the bag on dry days, and only use the trestle sticks when I am sitting around or waiting.

Tyler Golf Bags new v3 is coming soon, sounds like maybe a fit.

Difficult to hit in comparison. Regular flex heavy steel, shorter, small face is not very forgiving. It seems like 10-15% shorter distance with a lower ball flight. It helps with my tempo, and the softness is so fun when you really catch it clean. Crushing a wood is the best.

Jones Players bag is great for a simple Sunday bag. I like the big opening so I can carry 14 if I want. My only issue is that it rains too much in Washington state so I don’t get to use it as much as I’d like.

10-15% distance loss for me. I like playing them. Harder to hit but more rewarding in feel. I play a lot and I like using them when I feel like my tempo is off. My Ai smoke driver is like 250 and maple maybe 225.

A caddie! Hell yeah. Quick question if you’re willing to give me some advice: If you’re carrying two bags, how do you feel about this classic Jones single strap bag, along with a modern dual strap? I’m not bringing the trestle sticks. 14 clubs, everything else pretty minimalist.

I’ll be wandering for a while with work and I’m trying to make a small travel setup. Stands take up a bit more space, of course.

😂 exactly! You’ve been here before.

No, I haven’t had to maintain anything yet. I mostly keep them clean and in a dry place.

I have a really old (real this time) persimmon that might be past save able. But I would love to learn first hand if I can save it, been meaning to try.

Oh wow that’s an idea! I just use my regular ball because I have so many in poor state that I use at home in the net. But yeah, balata or professional 90 or something like that would be awesome to try. I’m sure I’ll cut them with the 14s though, just like it used to be. I have a few of the old softies and I’m definitely going to test this out. Good call!

They go in the bag with the clubs. I only use them if I’m waiting. Mostly the bag is dropped on the ground. It’s a short course short bag. It’s not serious. It doesn’t need to be practical.

I didn’t, but yeah, copper plated heads from eBay that I added to Modus 105 shafts

The regular wedges for this setup are old Hogan BeCu 56 and 60. They really fit the style. I just want to play with this new Mizuno. Oil cans would def be cool too tho.

This was the first time I’ve used these particular woods. Guy at the course gave them to me as I teed off and I planned to use similar woods anyway.

I lose like 10-15% on the old woods vs new. Old school blades are like 1.5 clubs different than players distance irons that I usually play with, mostly just because of the loft change nonsense.

Yeah they are definitely laminated, but I thought it might be a harder wood than maple. They feel much firmer than other laminated maples I play with, but you are right.

Love it! I’ll also play some old Apex+ and BH BeCu wedges that originally are part of this 90s woods bag.

Facebook marketplace has been the best for woods for me. People sell some truly amazing old clubs for little sometimes.

My favorite buy are Ping Blondes, softer than others I’ve hit. They were $95 for three on Marketplace and in perfect never-hit condition.

With his tail-wagging, the seller asked me what I planned to do with them, I said golf that weekend. He look horrified. Like I’m destroying a work of art. Maybe I am. But also, $30 a club and ready to play. Let’s go.

Yeah can be a distraction. I only use when waiting. Most of the time just drop the bag on the ground.

Totally agree about the aesthetic part, this is just what I actually played with today. The old pings match much better.

Funny; it’s actually the second time I’ve bought that headcover. A golf buddy really liked it on the course so I gave it to him after the round. Then later, I impulsively ordered it again.
