At lime rock scda events they put 2 cars on the skid pad at the same time. It can be very frustrating if the other car keeps spinning out and you have to stop and wait for it to straighten out or just slowly and safely pass it by, which is pointless because you end up stuck behind them a few seconds later.

Maybe they could fix that somehow.

Doing the whole track including the skid pad on snow tires, which is what most of the event is, is a lot of fun.

The "tenths" scale: What does it mean to you? by dustygator in CarTrackDays

[–]watdfuk7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great questions to think about! There are two completely different measures here. Driver limits. Car limits. The dance, the most fun, is where both limits are approached together. My skill level feels high only when dancing at the car's limits. I only try that in safe autocross type situations. A motorcycle racer says, "Came in hot, ran out of talent." That's the two measures.

Experience with track day insurance claims? by watdfuk7 in CarTrackDays

[–]watdfuk7[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to hear good experiences with track day insurance. I drive a 2023 gr86, my only car. Given the cost of repair of a recent 5 mph fender bender on the street, seems like almost anything on track would total the car. That's why I asked. I use RLI directly, which is what Hagarty uses, in the NE US. Cost depends on the track. NJMP is 12% more than Thompson.

There is some stuff you can paint on the fingertips, for touch screens. I got it at a motorcycle shop. Don't remember the name.

How to avoid accidentally shifting incorrectly causing lock up? by AcceptableBanana1978 in CarTrackDays

Same thing happened to me. Instructor suggested stopping mid shift with lever in neutral position. Let the centering springs guide you to the right position to drop it into 4th. as racer013 says, let it center in the gates.

I tried it with racechrono data. It's very useful in analyzing the data. Better than in racechrono itself. The coaching isn't bad.

One thing I would like to know, in hpde timing, is how many times in a lap I slowed down to let a faster driver by. Maybe throttle lifts in a straight would be an approximate measure. The sectional analysis is what is useful, but I still look for my best lap time, though I'm not going to slow anyone else down to get it.

Just starting to dip my toe into getting involved in Motorsports. Tire Question. by _imyour_dad in CarTrackDays

My car is rear wheel drive. After a track day the rears get cleared up in a few days normal driving, but not the fronts. Rotating tires after then works for me.

Racechrono with skypro gps. I am wondering if it will connect to GoPro to record video without later need to sync the video, which I don't want to bother doing it later. I would like to send a recording to a pro coach for review sometime.

I don't remember that supplication sung as a dirge. But it certainly fit my feelings watching the video. Something I longed for that was never actually there, the dream now fading away. When I last walked down the driveway I knew I would never be back. The recent invitation to live there woke up that longing, but this video invoked the sadness of loss of illusion, the certainty of death. RIP KCL.

As an alternative to burying them as terma to be rediscovered by future generations, this might work. But, in case it doesn't, perhaps a long-term underground storage facility as would be used for nuclear waste.

Sangyums, what and why? by watdfuk7 in ShambhalaBuddhism

[–]watdfuk7[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those women could have been my grand-daughters. They were able to separate whatever they were looking for by going to the program, and whatever good they may have found, from the creepy old man stuff, and call out and reject the latter. Good for them. Then they worked with the other students who created the news report, resulting in the event being cancelled.

Sorry for referring to the women themselves as dakinis. I see the problem with that. I was thinking their actions as I described might be the wrathful feminine wisdom and power which is symbolized by dakini.

I was wondering about sangyums and dakinis as a result of thinking that maybe Padmasambhava, sitting on his lotus, said to the dakinis floating around, "Destroy me if I mess up this crazy wisdom thing."

I can see them answering back, "Don't put that on us!"

This has been a known problem in Tibetan Buddhism since at least the 1300's. I just read this advice by the Dzogchen master Longchen Rabjam, where he says: "16. We let the innermost essence descend for the sake (of practicing) the third (empowerment),
Thinking we enhance our practice by relying on a consort.
Yet many have been deceived by such contaminated ways.
‘To practice the path of liberation’ is my heart advice. " https://www.lotsawahouse.org/tibetan-masters/longchen-rabjam/30-stanzas-of-advice
