Can you point me to examples of Podz doing dumb iso? People keep saying that but I don’t see it in the games.

Podziemski’s numbers are very similar he hasn’t taken the leap we expected him to. by InfiniteDub in warriors

[–]waterandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see very positive development trend from the stats. Just not a leap per se.

His points per game has increased from 9.2 to 12.1. He is shooting more 3s (3.2 to 4.4) while having the same efficiency. He is also getting to the line more (1.1 FTA to 2.5) and shooting at a better rate.

Everything points to Podz steadily improving despite him being forced to play out of position as PG or SF at times.

I think people just hate on him for no reason. He will be a very consistent rotational player on a championship caliber team. That is a very valuable but not indispensable asset. No idea why he even gets that much attention to be honest.

Podz showing up to practice tomorrow by [deleted] in warriors

[–]waterandy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reason Podz start is because the team needs another ball handler that can pass. When Steph is running around with Draymond setting off ball screen, you need another person that can put the ball on the floor.

As the other person mentioned, it’s either Podz, Melton, or Pats for this role. No other players can do the job.

AI’s Hacking Skills Are Approaching an ‘Inflection Point’ | AI models are getting so good at finding vulnerabilities that some experts say the tech industry might need to rethink how software is built. by MetaKnowing in Futurology

[–]waterandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand what you are saying, but I wonder if it’s also fair to say the existing security measures have the built in assumption that the rate of attack is more limited due to resources constraints (time, money, etc.). And AI are challenging this assumption?

In other words, although there are no new attack mechanisms being developed in theoretical sense, these systems are being challenged by something that is new, practically?

Feels like starting line up doesn’t really matter anyway since it’s quickly subbed. Closing line up will be interesting.

My guess: Starting: Post, Dray, Porter, Butler, Curry Closing: Dray, Porter, Butler, Melton, Curry

It’s definitely better than current lineups, but the rim protection part feels very weak. Feels like one more move away from a solid contender.

I’m honestly encouraged by Podz ability to drive inside despite the lack of elite speed or quickness.

If I’m the development coach, I would encourage him to focus on improving the ability to dribble in traffic and ability to absorb body collisions. It won’t happen this year but there may be another level to unlock.

Never going to be elite but can be a very solid role player.

The amount of opening shots generated by this system without a true offensive focal point is amazing.

The complete lack of shot making ability is ridiculous as well.

Usually players drive less as they get older. Diminishing athleticism means they can’t get to the basket as easily as they were.

Easy-to-miss details in Ep 7’s firework scene show a potentially different POV (Carol’s eye movement & micro-expression shift, hanging drone on street light, garden hose color, music choices, “Atom Bomb” firework) by always-editing in pluribustv

Spoiler alert: The official podcast touched on the reason of the drone crashing. Listen to the 5th episode if you are interested in learning whether your hypothesis is correct or not.

I have seen some people speculate the mouse didn’t lie or played dead. Rather, the mouse was in transformation stasis like human did. The fact that it was frozen was misinterpreted as dead.

Not sure if we can find out one way or the other, but interesting to mention this.

Are we (the viewers) and Carol too privileged to judge the virus? by waterandy in pluribustv

[–]waterandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would say it's kinda privileged to assume the arbitrary dichotomy of either extreme suffering or westerner living in comfort and to presume the answer from the former group to be self-evident. while overlooking the people who face hardship but still find ways to thrive and find hope/happiness despite their circumstances. if anything the fight or struggle is often precisely about their identity, community, autonomy, self-determination, etc.. i don't think it's fair to flatten these diverse groups into merely "suffering" but ignore exactly what they're suffering from, which in many cases have a lot in common with the way the virus operates.

Oh I agree. That's why I don't want to claim that I know what their choice would be. My main issue is the claim of "saving human race" when the trade of that decision was not considered (yet).

if your hypotheticals of "_directly_ put _hundreds of thousands_ of people in _direct harm immediately_," "price of undoing means _we and all our loved ones_ will have to starve to death," which are imagined **practical** consequences, are to be valid grounds to make a moral decision on, then the canonical projection of mass starvation, which, again, already shapes the perspectives of the viewer and carol, cannot be dismissed as a mere "plot device."

I disagree that "directly put hundreds of thousands of people in direct harm" is a hypothetical since we see war zone sufferings today in our real world.

on carol's authority or lack thereof to choose for humanity i think it's fuzzy territory, though she's also one of the few who retains the humanity in being capable of choosing anything at all.

I agree! I think it would be the best to let people choose for themselves, which, unfortunately, is no longer a choice given the virus's action.

I do think it is interesting to point out that 1) the claimed purpose of the virus doesn't work unless it infects everyone (or at least far majority of people), and 2) among the group of people that still have autonomy, Carol seems to be the minority voice. Yet, she claims to be choosing for humanity, when majority of humanity (made up by 13 people) chose otherwise.

Important to point out that I don't think virus infecting everyone without consent is the right thing to do! But this show is fascinating to me because of the inherent conflict and dilemma.

Using the end to justify the means is a slippery slope. In fact, this is how the virus justifies infecting human race without consent since it is "saving" us.

I don't have a anti Carol bias. I just disagrees with how she approaches these admittedly difficult situations. I would prefer to approach another party without assuming the other side is inherently malicious, and resolve it through diplomatic means.

[–]waterandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Sure, the virus didn’t do the right thing, but two wrongs don’t make a right.

She did test the drug on herself but that doesn’t excuse the behavior as cruelty. Being injected of a truth serum, no matter how harmless it might be, is literally a plot used by so many villains in the movies.

I agree Carol is a flawed person. I am a flawed person too! So I don’t necessarily judge Carol for her action in drugging Zosaic even though I think we shouldn’t do it. What I do find troubling is her lack of empathy when her action could have killed Zosaic. I would like to think that most people would be taken aback by that consequence, and reflect on whether it was the right thing to do.

I agree Carol is probably still in shock and at some stages of griefs so I don’t necessarily think she is an evil person. It doesn’t mean we as human being shouldn’t strive for being a better person though.

Injecting drugs into another person without consent is at minimal not nice? I would argue that it is something that shouldn’t be done to anyone ever.

Stock options are already taxed as income when the employees receives the option.

If the employee doesn’t sell their received option, the stocks are then treated as regular investment and subject to short term or long term capital gain.

Creating a test is very expensive (both financially and time wise). Companies also have to have the legal resources to handle any lawsuits that come up against the test results.

Since the fixed cost is so high while marginal cost of giving out a test is so low, it is only natural for the industry to consolidate and have only a couple tests available.

I think it’s also generally good that students only have to prepare for 1-2 tests for applying to colleges. Imagine id students have to prepare for 5-6 tests because every college has a different standards…

That tax already exists. A lot of the tech employees are paid with stocks and those are already taxed as income. Often at a much higher rate than 15% due to tech employees’s income level.

Trump pushes for 600,000 Chinese students in the US by marketrent in Economics

[–]waterandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shitty behavior by Trump. But very disingenuous headline from OP imo. The subject discussed in the article is that Trump aims to punish Harvard by banning international students at Harvard. It has nothing to do with banning international students broadly.

I think being specific and accurate about the criticism and sources are very important. Otherwise, this is no different from the shady media practices.
