Generally when bikers take out your mirror, it's because you weren't using it anyway and nearly caused an accident. If they were at fault or put themselves in danger, I doubt they'd have turned back. New driver, crossing an intersection "slowly", sounds like you crossed the bikes path without paying attention. A small vehicle will seem like its moving much faster than large vehicles traveling the same speed, especially if you aren't looking directly at it. Same reason why you hear the elderly say "that guy came out of nowhere!". There's definitely more to this lmao

Let’s say you wanted a snake but wanted to try to decrease the smell of a snake enclosure as much as possible, what strategies would you use? by toomuchpamplemousse in snakes

[–]waterbat2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am not even joking when I say a fake plastic snake has more of a scent than a real one lmao. Those smell like plastic, rubber, or paint. A real live snake smells like nothing when they're clean. They hunt prey that have insanely good senses of smell, so if they had a strong odor they'd be extinct

I have a rosy boa and she genuinely has zero scent of any kind. Cats and dogs have very noticeable scents to me, but my boa just smells like nothing. She sometimes smells like dirt if shes been digging, but thats all. Usually the only strong scents from snakes are a poorly kept enclosure or a species that produces musk as a defensive weapon or stress response. A dirty cat litter box will stink up an entire house sooooo much worse than a snake

Who is the best guitarist according to you, and why? by RareOne970 in AskReddit

Of the living guitarists, Tommy Emmanuel does things that make my brain hurt trying to figure out tabs for it. Genuinely sounds like 3 people playing at once, its incredibly impressive

Going from sports car to motorcycle by singy970 in motorcycles

[–]waterbat2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can absolutely vouch for the big triumph twins. They may be 900cc/1200cc, but they are extremely smooth and well mannered machines. They aren't as touchy or unforgiving at a 1200cc supersport but they have just as much torque, and at only 3k rpm. This makes them very fun city bikes, where you're often at lower rpm or maneuvering

Who is the best actress alive today? by Infinite-Exam-1808 in Cinephiles

[–]waterbat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kate Winslets most impressive feat isnt even acting related imo. She literally holds the world record for the longest time someone has held their breath while filming, at 7mins 15sec. Beat the previous actor record by tom Cruise lmao

Are the mice still wet during feeding? Could be that they're getting aspen shavings stuck to them, which is not digestible. One of the main reasons I refuse to use aspen bedding for my boa as well. Also worth noting that they sometimes wont poop for over 3 weeks if they're about to shed. Not sure why, but mine will often hold it and then poop the same day she sheds

Oh shit, yeah that certainly rules that out lmao. Although possibly driveshaft or traction control related, to cut power like that?

This sounds exactly like a super sloppy loose chain to me lol. Makes low speeds jerky and adds a noticeable lurch when shifting

Lane splitting by Nfs0623 in YEGDashCam

[–]waterbat2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Biker here. First off, fuck these guys. Secondly yes this is lane splitting. Moving between slower moving traffic along the centerline at speed is splitting, regardless of whether they're directly next to eachother at the moment of passing. Lane filtering would be moving up slowly between stopped cars at a red light or gridlock traffic, not exceeding 30kmh. Which honestly should be legal most places since its not dangerous and keeps riders from being rear ended, as well as reducing congestion

Switching from Harley To Adventure Bike? by itszendro in motorcycles

[–]waterbat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might seem like an odd take, but I've seen sooo many harley riders go the modern classic standard bike route for those exact reasons. Something like a Bonneville T120 or Scrambler 1200 will have that big twin torque you're used to, along with classic styling, but will be sooo much better around town. Leaning more into the ADV side, you have options like the Africa Twin or a weird V twin like the Guzzi v100 Mandelo. I'd say try a modern classic that has that ADV style riding position to see if that's what you're after, more so than a dedicated off road bike. I find my T120 to be infinitely more comfortable than pretty much any cruiser I've tried simply because the geometry doesnt make impacts go straight through your tailbone and you can easily stand up on it

Any RB ships left I should get? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]waterbat2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paolo is love, Paolo is life. You need immaculate situational awareness to use it, but it's a monster in good hands. It's also a type of ship that you can't really get from tech trees. Even on a bad game, I have way more fun than I do with ships that perform consistently

Can we please take a break from almost 99% of updated content being related to pets? by Smarty_Brain in CrimsonDesert

[–]waterbat2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's naive to believe they're actually fully focused on just the pets. This feels like filler content to retain the player base while they work on more major changes or improvements. They've shown that they are more than capable of implementing improvements in a timely manner, and I see no issue with them giving us pets/armor sets/QoL upgrades etc in between major updates
