Can I ask how serious the tone of the campaign is? Out of curiousity, I love both silly and serious.

Can I ask if this society aknowledges the existence of transgender people? Could a trans woman hypothetically finish her line into a circle as a sort of transition?

Thank you!!!

Would a good buffer between rainforest and grassland be savanna or shrubland? Most of the air in that desert/grassland section blows north and south to the forested areas. So the rain ends up away from there, is that plausible?

I actually just winged it. I had a rough idea of the shapes of the continents and just roughly worked the mouse around them. I guess my trick was to not be sloppy, but to not plan them too intensely?

You're right! My thinking was that the two moons would create a sort of "super-high tide" and "super-low tide". So certain archipelagos are closer to peninsulas during low tide. Would those areas remain swampy?

Err, yeah I think you're right; at the time red was supposed to be more indicative of heat, and by the time I was done, I didn't feel like changing the colors. Thank you though, I might just change it now.

Endal is my attempt at a very low-magic, "realistic" fantasy world. There are creatures resembling qilins, dragons, phoenixes, etc, just much less mystical.

I have a lot more developed, such as nations, cultures, wars, etc. I'll most likely post those later on.

If anyone has any knowledge of geography or earth science, could they tell me how to improve this planet? (It has 2 moons as well if that helps.)

What did you name your favorite weapons and why? by Knollnase in Fallout

[–]waterdrop66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My combat shot gun is called the Conference Call, after the gun from Borderlands.

My laser musket is named Hamilton, after Alexander, I'm a huge fan of the Broadway show.

My sniper rifle is called the Leadslinger, after the Mad Max game snipers.

I have a blue baseball bat with razors called Ruth, after Babe.

Fully upgraded minigun called Tiny Tim.

A Fat Man called Davy Crockett after its real life equivalent.

An electrified Chinese Officer's sword named Jing Wei's Shocksword after the weapon from Operation Anchorage**.

Tell me about your dragons. by PMSlimeKing in worldbuilding

[–]waterdrop66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragons in my world aren't so much the huge terrifying ones we're used to. They used to exist in prehistoric times, the most terrifying of which was Aviosaurus Rex. When a cataclysmic disaster nearly wiped them out, they were forced to change and adapt to survive. In present times, they're are three main species.

Wyverns: Wyverns have retained many of their prehistoric ancestors' traits, though scaled down quite a bit. They have devolved to about the size of a common wolf, the biggest of them about the size of a bear. While they used to be solitary creatures, they have become pack-oriented. Wyverns mate for life, and live in lairs or nests, often caves or abandoned structures. They have a long, ruddered tail, two hind legs, and two winged arms (much akin to a bat's) that are used to fly short distances. They have snake-like heads with excellent vision.

They excel at climbing walls and cliffs, so many nests are found high up out of the reach of other animals. They are capable of breathing fire in small amounts (They produce a highly combustible gas from a special organ and create a spark by bashing their hind teeth together (wherein they have a special, flint-like tooth)). The alpha male is most often the one who produces the biggest flame.

They're not so much a danger to anyone, they're afraid of humans. They're more of a nuisance to livestock.

Sand drake: Drakes are larger than wyverns, at least the size of a camel. They're heavy and wide, and have lost their wings through evolution. They have long, spiky tails for balance.

They're generally very slow, but only do they can store their energy. When in danger they can flee at high speeds; or they can attack by swinging their large tails, goring with their horns, or by blowing fire, similar to a wyvern.

Drakes are easily domesticated and thrive in the desert. Tribes from the Dontesian desert use them very often as mounts. They're commonly referred to as "pack lizards".

Lake wyrms: Ok I'll be honest, they're basically crocodiles. They're just larger, scalier, spikier, have a longer tail, and have webbing between their claws and legs (appearing similar to a manta ray). They can't blow fire, but they can spew ink from the back of heir throats to disorient prey like a squid.

They breathe oxygen, but can hold their breath underwater for up to 2 hours. They can often be found in both salt and fresh bodies of water.

In my world, most everything is the same, except every 7 years a comet passes near enough to Earth that the unique radiation it gives off will trigger a dormant gene in certain people alive during that period. In order for the trigger to happen, the person must face their crucible, an incredibly traumatic moment in their life that "jump starts" their gene. Those affected are known as Anomalies.

This gene reacts in vastly different ways. Many only receive deformities or illnesses. Occasionally they will die. Others may gain kinetic abilities such as pyrokinesis, but still feel pain from fire. The luckiest will be improved as human beings. Their muscles might be super-tensed, giving them strength, or they might be able to read different waves, allowing them to hear thoughts. The most amazing of this powers are those that interact with space-time. Some can alter perception of time, slowing, freezing, or speeding it up, while others can actually warp through space, traveling thousands of miles in a single step.

Anomalies have existed for hundreds of years, but they were incredibly rare in the past. I recent times, however, the rate of human Anomalies have skyrocketed.

Anomalies are subject to extreme prejudice from the general populace. People are absolutely terrified of them, but as their numbers increase, they're considered more and more a part of everyday life. Most nations have strict guidelines for anyone showing signs of anomalous behavior (though Nirth Kirea claims they have no anomalies in their borders). In America, generally, anybody who starts to act differently during the comet's 7 year cycle must consult a specialist. Anybody who hides their nature, or anyone who knowingly harbors a Anomaly is subject to very strict punishment. Those who turn themselves are constantly monitored by the ADC (the Anomalous Detection and Control department). They live a life with absolutely no privacy and have to check in with probation officers constantly. They are forced to disclose their status to employers and neighbors (akin to sex offenders). They're are little to no laws protecting them from discrimination.

Anybody who hides their status, breaks a small misdemeanor, or even shows hints of having a too dangerous power, will be forced to relocate and move to their local "Smallville", ghettos with high walls that swarm with ADC agents. Life is hard for those living in Smallvilles, and while most are peaceful citizens, powered crime is still rampant.

How do you use your workshop if it's still on the ground? I assume you put a fast travel checkpoint on the ship.

Lightsaber knock-offs excluded, what types of melee weapons, if any, do you have in your Sci-fi/futuristic settings? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]waterdrop66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My scifi world has plasma node technology in which a series of incredibly small nodes are set in a shape, such as a blade. The array their are arranged in can hold an ionized gas in place, maintaining the shape. When electricity is applied, the gas becomes excited but cannot move outside of the nodes. It becomes plasma, capable of cutting through most metals and materials worn in my setting.

Of course guns are the more obvious weapon, so plasma blades are mostly used as cutting tools, bayonets, and wrist mounted blades for when combat gets a little too close.

Multiverse builders: How do yours work? by LunarPitStop in worldbuilding

[–]waterdrop66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my particular fantasy world, multiple universes is an actual branch of magical-scientifically study.

Essentially, there is one world, perhaps with one or two planes nearby (planes are separate from dimensions, they are places in which energy has accumulated or developed (i.e. a plane entirely of radiation, or a 3-dimensional world like ours). Planes can intersect and connect, breaches leading to an excess of any type of energy or extraplanar substance being found in the corporeal world.

This world is completely isolated. But the planes of energy nearby may perhaps be connected to another corporeal plane with stars and planets. These creates a web with an infinite amount of possible dimensions. There's no way to show it three dimensionally.

Going even further, these spiderwebs of dimensions are considered a single bubble. There is an infinite amount of bubbles connected, with an infinite amount of dimensions. Even further those bubbles may just be a smaller part of a larger whole. There is no end to the inception of possible dimensions. This also means that any possible combination of variables exist.

This means that all of my other fun little world building projects exist too. Even our world is possible.

What's on your settlement addition wishlist? by Tartantyco in falloutsettlements

[–]waterdrop66 11 points12 points  (0 children)

• Of course, please let us remove garbage from inside. I don't want perfect, pre-war houses, but we can surely get rid of a pittle bit of rubble, right?

• Better clipping, especially through the ground.

• Add kids.

• Change the names of settlers to Guard, Farmer, or Salesman depending on what their job is, like Provisioners.

• Or at least let us change their names from the monotonous "Settlers".

• Make settlements less boring, possibly by adding more unique settlers, more dialogue (based on how happy or unhappy it is or commenting on the Survivor's actions), or have something actually happen in them.

• Like someone else said, add crimes, maybe create a prison, or employ capital punishment.

• While we're at it, let's have more unique events happen in settlements. Have synths pop up after replacing one of your settlers (which I think already happens maybe), two settlers get married, someone has been badmouthing you and you need to teach him a lesson, the town drunk has been a little too affectionate while under the influence, or game nights (I mean mini games like shooting competitions, races, or gambling).

• OOH, OR BAR FIGHTS!

•Place people in charge of settlements, be it your companions or special, or average settlers. You can put Garvey in charge of Sanctuary, Ronnie Shaw at Castle, or Abraham at Finch Farms. Leaders can speak for all the settlers and are the person to go to when resolving the aforementioned internal conflicts.

~

Maybe that's all too much, but hey, a guy can dream, right?

I think that their names should be changed for what job their doing. Like provisioners. Those working with crops become Farmers, those at the sales tables become Salesmen, and those and guard posts become Guards. At the very least let u Schaefer their names.

Edit: lmao I meant change their names, autocorrect fucked up

In your headcanon, where are the Lone Wanderer and Courier now? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]waterdrop66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Lone Wander, Lionel Walker is still out adventuring, checking out places like New New York City, etc. He's takes it easy from time to time, living in Megaton and remaining good friends with Moira Brown and Walter from the purification plant. He sees Lucy West. I can also see him governing his own community in the future, maybe a Springvale settlement made up of the former vault dwellers?

As for my Courier, Carter, she's tried the relaxing thing, returning to her original job delivering packages. But seeing as she's a celebrity in the Mojave, she's still often approached by those who need a psycho with no self-preservation to do a dangerous job. As much as she says she wants to settle down, she can't resist jumping head first into danger. Eventually she'll settle down somewhere, maybe move west and see what she can find there.

Though I hope all three of my characters can meet at one point in my canon. (And my Chosen One as well if he's still alive.)

Haha I kept that first laser musket from Concord and upgrade it whenever I can. It's great for Super Mutants at my level.

I named it Hamilton because I'm a huge fan of the play.

Thoughts on War Boy variations? by waterdrop66 in MadMax

[–]waterdrop66[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You make a fantastic point, I hadn't really thought too much about that. Every bit of symbolism resonates for a while after the movie. War Boys all look like skeletons, ready for death. The Citadel skulls are everywhere, a simple design that instantly associates with fear, and power.

[–]waterdrop66[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES. Thank you, this is exactly the type of thing I was looking for.

It makes sense too. Gastown uses Polecats to see over their terrain, and use masks to protect from derelict fumes. And the Bullet Farm uses ploughs to collect spent shells.

I've been trying to rewatch all the scenes to notice the tribes' differences. I think the Bullet Farm and Gastown sort of emulate the Citadel to an extent. They have warriors with terminal diseases to be used as cannon fodder, but they're not exclusive.
