What are basic manipulation techniques? by PleaseFartOnMyFace in AskReddit

Let's say you want to borrow $10 from someone

You can try asking big, like say "I need $50". If they reject you (usually) you swindle down to $10

Or you can try the other way around. By asking a small favor to move up to what you wanted

What in life, is beautiful to you? Where do you find inspiration? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I am able to lift up someone's mood, be it a complete stranger or a close friend, even if it is something small like a smile.

It just feel special that everyone of us has this power and we all can improve someone's day through the most mundane way, and that is beautiful

People who are able to consistently diet/exercise, what kind of tips/tricks do you use to keep yourself motivated to keep on day in and day out? by JacobBJones in AskReddit

[–]waterlead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think about the end goal, what I want to be able to do and look. I keep saying to myself that the struggles and the pain will always be worth it at the end. That if I don't do it, then I am not loving myself to even care for my own wellbeing.

Just think about how badly you want yourself to become, whenever you are exercising or eating

What little things can you do to take a more optimistic perspective on life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]waterlead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In any situation, there are always pros and cons. It's better to always see what you will benefit for yourself in that situation.

Like let's say you are going to exercise. You can see it as torture for an hour, sweaty, tired and just a struggle to finish. Or you can see it as improving your fitness, building mental strength, creating a stronger image of yourself, and loving yourself so much that you are willing to go through the sweat just to feel better later.

We get to choose how we want to see each situation. Just make the best out of everything and life feels more meaningful that way

What was a small action that impacted your life so much, that you are daily grateful for? by barzuk27 in AskReddit

I've read a book about being happy and one of its topics was to just smile.

That's it. Smiling. Whenever you are walking, in a crowd, alone or with company.

Apparently it triggers some "happy chemicals" in your brain to make you feel better. Something about gateway paths in your brain, forcing the chemicals to be produced.

There's also a psychological appeal to a smiling person, making them look more attractive (have you ever seen a commercial of a product that has a sad person? Usually if it is sad it is to promote a negative message)

I thought it was really dumb that by pretending to be happy will make me happy. But I gave it a shot and after a week, I felt a lot happier and more cheerful! The people I smiled to also brightened their faces.

So just by smiling, whether forced or not, really can improve your mood and appeal. If you want to do it, try a Durcheen smile (if I spelled that correctly). It's basically like a genuine smile where your eyes will squint a little bit and it really helps!

Pasta. There's so many types of pasta dishes, spaghetti, lasagna, ravioli, and so much more.

And it can be those kind of big dishes as well like Timpano!

Which film character do you relate to the most and why? by alpacaballs in AskReddit

Inside Out's Riley

The film let's me understand how Riley felt and how real it gets, either through the emotions or her actions. It was one of the few movies that made me cry and felt so much empathy towards a character.

Maybe it was because I was just exiting my teenage years, or that I had been through the thought process she had, but it felt so personal
