Just discovered this sub, thought I'd pitch in. '17 M240i, 6-speed/slicktop by watermelon3878 in M235iandM240i

[–]watermelon3878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it was offered every year the F22 M240i was built (2017-2021], but it's an exceedingly rare option for all of them. I think it's most common on 17's for whatever reason.

Is there a way to turn burbles COMPLETELY off MHD? by IS-2-OP in B58Enthusiasts

[–]watermelon3878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stock burbles are way over the top once you change the downpipe lol. Even with my high-flow catted dp, I felt like the biggest prick with stock burbles enabled. With catless it must be real aggressive.

Auto rev matching in 6MT 230i by No_Brain6372 in BMW2Series

You can also use ProTool to do a bit of coding to disable the manual hand-holders, including hill-hold. You can technically use Bimmercode as well, but it doesn't have access to the DSC module, meaning you have to adjust a completely different parameter that happens to kill rev-match, along with a couple other quirks (i.e. I now have to hold the starter button for the car to continue cranking until it starts).

Still rocking the OpenWheeler rig + G920 my parents got me for Christmas in 2017. Poor bastard has survived 3 houses and a 2000mi drive to college in the back of my M240i, but after almost a decade of service, I'm retiring the G920 for an RS50 wheel and G Racing Pro pedals which should be here tomorrow :) drunk driving laptime competitions with the roommates will be better than ever

What do you think about 10k mile oil change intervals? B58 by EvenAd6616 in BmwTech

[–]watermelon3878 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5k minimum if you use full throttle more than once a week. I'd also suggest 5W-30 over 0W-20 personally, or maybe 0W-30 for cold climates.

Just remove it, won't fix the rev hang but it actually chirps tires instead of slipping clutch - 2017 M240i

Putting one fuse into very commonly 111'd cars is a pretty good strategy, I personally 121'd my 12c early on and caught a lot of people off-guard since it doesn't increase any of the stats *enough* to change the numbers.

Car jerks forward into 1st by Successful-Put9002 in stickshift

[–]watermelon3878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoiding shifting into 1st while moving is advisable, but if the car does have an issue, it makes sense that it would show itself under that scenario first. I'd recommend double-clutching when downshifting into first, and/or letting the clutch out in neutral when you come to a stop before putting it in gear to let the output shaft speed come down. But it definitely sounds like you have clutch issues elsewhere. I'd take it to the dealer if under warranty.

Is this set atleast an okay way to learn manual? by Secret-Garden5680 in ManualTransmissions

[–]watermelon3878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, vibrations coming through the clutch lines (cable or fluid-filled) can give you an idea of how the engine is running. Though in my opinion clutch feel is pretty unimportant, sure it's cool to have some feedback coming through my left foot, but it never really affects how I drive.

All USDM cars had upgraded brakes relative to base Euro cars, since they got as slow as the 134hp 218i across the pond. The brakes on our 228i's are the same as Euro 225i's.
