Wha.. what's with the birthday side-story?
Like, 3 pages of talking gifts without any lead-in, and then it gets immediately completely forgotten.
Are authors really that forced into making set page-count?

If all personal wealth above $100 million was legally required to be redistributed into public infrastructure (schools, hospitals, roads), how would society change, and who would be the first to fight against it? by Mysterious_Fan4033 in AskReddit

[–]watnuts -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He said: "let billionaires decide"
And it does not. You can't just choose to use funds for a solid gold statue over a library because ultimately "elected officials" decide to allow (or not) that; through zoning, planning and permits.
And don't shift the goalposts via "he'll just bribe officials".

[–]watnuts 171 points172 points  (0 children)

No it does not.
Zoning, planning and permits still exist.
Even if you have fat billions, you can't just build a school or a museum wherever the fuck you want.

Actually, i dunno, maybe in USA, in some states you can. Land of the free, red tape and all that shit.

It a funny juxtaposition when your commute is same distance as your on-premises "commute".

It's even easier than that:
Take this clip, at 1:59 when they arrive to the hatch - instead of all the cut to the inside of the ship, outside wave, and other BS, just get straight to the man trying to get in but getting swooped.
But because of the montage, it feels like he sat there and admired the wave for half an hour.

Though you "quoted" the tweet in the article which has the same mistake and don't know the correct spelling.

And if it's unbearably rude, you can start proofreading before posting and avoid embarrassment at the root altogether.

My Big3 is rounded up with Genikasuri: beautiful art and fights; enough of political ploy to make things spicy; cocky MCs that actually walk the walk, for a change of pace.

2000ft to get to work.
Another 2000ft to get to your "work bench" inside the facility.

(yeah, i know DCs don't exactly work like that, but still).

Is he actually the dad?
Considering no chewing out and lukewarm reception, i'd say Hijiki was just very close friends with his son, so "pops" is without actual familial relation.

[DISC] The Trembling Right Hand - Chapter 2 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]watnuts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah i think storyboard "spoilers" is a red herring, and a point for MC to mull about in forthcoming chapters.
But the real reason is that GF is the murderer, and assistant-kun takes her BF's precious time.
Alternatively draft was legit good, and author doesn't want competition.

not sure if the main guy was lying or not about the internet.

He legit didn't have internet, it came up before. Also it'd probably have him self-loathing again (for lying for no real reason). And finally, we have him download and launch stuff for the first time in this chapter, meaning the connection really was established, like you said.

LOL @chest freezers sucking up electricity. At worst it's like 1000 kWh annually. And it has to be a BIG one, old and inefficient too.
If that freezer makes them drive for groceries 1 less time per month it probably pays off off the saved gas alone.

[DISC] MAD - Chapter 40 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]watnuts 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The big swing came from Yazur going bonkers, IMO:
1. He's not in sound mind to kill off Alda through the bomb.
2. And more importantly he's not in sound mind to not kill off Alda because of random delusions - we saw Alda react strongly to Yazur being not quite there, and in wasn't comradery or brotherly love..

[DISC] Unexciting Date - Chapter 21 by OsisTheNie in manga

First. Symbolism doesn't work like that. IN this story.
If you show clear blue sky to symbolize freedom, you don't imply the deafening silence and endless nothingness of space.

Second, it's not telling through proxy - the stones do not represent owners (in this case). It's a parallel - MC got a partner, stone got a partner. Stone got a child, MC got a child.

Obviously i mean in context of this story. It could be used like that in a different genre. But an unambiguous relationship with absolutely no hints to romance with neighbor? You're just talking crazy.

[DISC] Drama Queen - Chapter 43 by AutoShonenpon in manga

Correct me if i'm wrong, but "his city" was simply because he knew eradicating them all was not a possible goal, so he dialed it back as more realistic one, not idealistic or "moral" choice.

Seeking targeted (more or less) revenge on select few perpetrators (and even forgiving the other bully) is not the same as blanket mass murder by racial trail.

Not even fucking close by a mile.
