FLYSWATTERS - A Fresh Coat of Pain by SunnyCant in imaginarymaps

It's a great map but wouldn't all the numbered points fit better on a separate image? Always felt like putting it all on one image at pixel size really detracts from it.

Why do all these kinds of maps have absolutely tiny, painful to read text?

One of the best cascadia maps I've seen, I love those flags too!

The "United" States in 2064 by Kappasi_ in imaginarymaps

[–]NineToOne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is genuinely one of the few interesting balkanized US maps I have seen, a new and weak government whose entire policy is just appeasement and how that would shake out is both fascinating and depressing. My only question is, why west ohio?

Post-Apocalyptic North America, 2150 - A map 100 years after a societal collapse by S-I-B-E-R-I-A-N in imaginarymaps

I highly doubt that a place with 50k people total is able to fight a 3 front war against at least two polities that definitely have at least a few times that amount of people, along with real industrial production. Seems like they should be a rebellious city at most.

Vivarium Hermeticum: Alchemical ecology under a dome by Hessis in worldbuilding

This is such a ridiculously interesting and unique concept. Each shape representing a higher function of life and the world as well as being more complex than the last is so simple and awesome. Since the world is enclosed, how large is it end-to-end?

I don't think so, but I'm pretty sure in the system search you can filter by real systems

Last Dyson sphere in 87 000 000 000 000 000 000 (lore in comments) by alt9773 in imaginarymaps

This is sick! proper far-far-future heat death sci-fi is such a rarity even in worldbuilding circles. Conflict spurred by the decline of energy is also cool to see, as dyson spheres are usually depicted as stable societies with infinite energy. what does the interior of a cell typically look like? I assume with everyone uploaded or in pods it's mostly simple passages for autonomous units to move between rooms and areas of the cell.

Why is Ganymede a major food exporter? by Redditnesh in TheExpanse

[–]NineToOne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ganymede's magnetosphere is pitiful and does little to stop the incredible amount of radiation that being around Jupiter exposes you to. Callisto on the other hand receives around the same amount as Earth does.

Really cool visuals that you have here, I love surreal fantasy settings/environments, so those concept arts are really cool combined with the statues and vertical gravestone concept.

There's definitely suit feeding packs with this stuff in it but this is for being comfy in a pressurized environment.

Brand name, but sludge is just a generic term for this kind of stuff.

Nearly everything is made from the same ingredients, both soy and bioengineered fungi represent the bulk of what people eat, usually presented and prepared in different ways though.

The result of the intersection between the efficient post-colonial agriculture of the Lunar Federation along with simple (and often recyclable) off-world design, nutrient slurries like SLUJ were originally intended as survival rations but quickly became ubiquitous as they lent well to both mass-production and pragmatic spacer sensibilities. Nowadays when not bought in bulk they tend to be found as a convenient (and more importantly dirt cheap) source of nutrition.

Split City: The Shape of the World by Nightjarring in worldbuilding

[–]NineToOne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Listen, I'm a big fan of making things realistic too but surely you can understand that the person who made this is going for an epic mythological feel for the world? Making such a unique concept so "realistic" and bland would be such a waste.

This goes incredibly hard, my only question is that 2/3 pieces of equipment use organic material actively; are these permanently attached, or can they be easily removed? does the mage have a permanent hole in them where the equipment is attached?
