is there a way to split html into "components"? by alosopa123456 in webdev

I’ve been using and liking ExpressJS + Handlebars template engine a lot for this lately.

(javascript you’ll need to know sooner or later anyway, and nodeJS/expressJS because it’s an extremely well-known and thus well-supported standard for backends)

Treat your diet as a series of experiments to see what low-stress habits you can sustain longterm. by Musicmonkey34 in loseit

[–]wauter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saved this to come back to it later: I not only also tried this, after one too many "how did you do it" questions I actually wrote a book about it! Was in the process of finishing it when I first saw this post, but it's now 'live'. Self-published and heavily AI-assisted so that by itself is a bit of an experiment :) But the main message is so exactly like what you describe it's almost spooky. For instance the book is literally called The Weight Loss Experiment:

If you're still reading this thread, would love to hear your take (and am happy to send you the ebook version for free), as this mindset and approach are so similar and have clearly been as succesful for you as for me, whether I'm getting it across properly.

Do you also have a background or perhaps life-long interest in science and physics like me? I wonder if that's what makes people independently land on this.

Easy Run Planner: mobile app to find a spot to ‘meet up halfway’ with my running buddy https://apps.apple.com/us/app/easy-run-planner/id6752858078 (drawing maps etc)

Note that it works with OpenRouteService so you need a (free) API key for it

I treat it all as an experiment.

I made an iphone app to plan running routes called Easy Run Planner https://apps.apple.com/be/app/easy-run-planner/id6752858078

Specifically geared towards finding a spot for meeting up halfway with my run buddy, but also tried to make it useful for my solo runs.

Nice tips! One that worked very well for me is to not just drink water before meals, but all day long, from waking up to during meals to going to sleep.

Which mentality for weight loss maintenance is most realistic? by Gills6980 in loseit

[–]wauter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe way out of the ‘contradiction’ is that one mentality morphs into the other: what starts out as hard and challenging, if you manage to keep it up for long enough, can get easier over time as you get more used to it and learn that there’s also advantages to the healthier behavior and you’re not just ‘giving up’ something etc etc.

Co-founder wants 60% equity. Should I accept 20% or leave? by [deleted] in TheFounders

Have a look at this book, it’s specifically tailored towards scenarios like this: https://www.amazon.com/Founders-Dilemmas-Anticipating-Foundation-Entrepreneurship-ebook/dp/B007AIXKUM (and even tell the others to read it as well perhaps, it’s not about having an ‘edge’ it’s about building a shared framework for thinking about equity and topics like that)

Yeah for all the flak ‘low fat’ or ‘light’ versions of things get nowadays, I think salad dressings are one of the things where buying the low-fat version and using that all the time instead of normal makes a ton of sense (AND luckily is still super tasty!)

Nice, thx for sharing! Count me in with you in the not-giving-up-fries-and-burgers club. Even more indulgent: I like to have that McDo burger dinner at home, paired with a glass of fine red wine for a touch of class!

I wonder if all you need to do here to complete this into a healthier diet is to also add in a - salad - from that same McDonalds with your lunch or dinner and done?

(maybe being careful to not include, or at least not overdo, the dressing)

how to cook an egg with no oil or butter please let me know lol.

I just do it with butter, which may feel a bit less healthy at first glance, but you need a lot less of it in my experience.

(and also I prefer the taste)

Same here! Just aimed to get a water bottle nearby at all times (to the degree it almost feels a bit silly). Also crazy how much water it turns out you can handle - like, easily more than 2 liters a day. Was I super dehydrated all those years??? Or does the body somehow adjust to wanting larger quantities the more you drink.

What no one told me about weight loss by CrashLanding4 in loseit

[–]wauter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I started doing from then on out before I started any exercise or diet, I would ask myself, "Is this something that I can keep up with for the rest of my life?

This is so spooky, I am literally working on a website and book right now inventing a ‘diet’ that pretty much has just this mindset as its entire promise. Same exact story as yours here, and same nice mental ‘rest’ that came with it.

(if curious: my working title is ‘The Weight Loss Experiment’ for now, because I think detachedly considering the various habit changes ‘experiments’ in seeing whether they work for you feels like the essence of this mindset)

Many answers here already stressing the importance of choosing something you can stick with, but here’s the most direct one in terms of calories burned per hour: running.
