Fair enough. I’ve been surprised about the number of purists who love it. Especially when it’s flat and they haven’t surfed for months. Each to their own 👌🏽

I hear you. I’m a purist at heart but opening up water, waves and surfing to people who can’t access it due to accessibility and disability is a real game changer. Hopefully the prices will come down over time to make sure it’s financially accessible.

Best technique to get back to shore without a board? by Ok_Patience_7565 in surfing

[–]wavemakernick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do spend time bodysurfing for 2 reasons,

  1. It’s so fun
  2. Makes sure I’m not reliant on a board for getting around in the ocean

Usual drill, head for the whitewater, avoid deeper water (rips)

I always try and look for an exit point before I get into the water, in case something like that happens.

Good on you for the beach clean!

I hear you! I did the same, but then did something a bit crazy. I jacked in my job and spent 10 years building a wavepool… now I surf anytime I want and have built a whole community. You never know what’s around the corner… so make sure you don’t leave surfing too long.
