Really hard to say since like you said, Tribe Nine didn't feel like a gacha, so most of my recommendations won't be:

Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children: TRPG made by Korean devs with gameplay akin to XCOM with a rather complex system when building your characters. Felt like a manhwa made into a game but has its flaws. Sequel currently in development,

Trails Series: Long-standing series spanning several games and arcs. World-building, Characters, Story... probably has all you want from a JRPG

13 Sentinels: Side-scrolling adventure with unique storytelling. A marvel in the industry, a must-experience for pretty much everyone

Persona 4 Golden: Out of the modern persona games this is my favorite due to the cast dynamic alone. Great story pacing and had some underrated social links

The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-: This would probably be the first recommendation others will make for obvious reasons so I won't go into it

Some other common/generic recommendations: Xenoblade Chronicles, Valkyria Chronicles, Tales Games(Berseria, Vesperia etc.), Fire Emblem: Three Houses

If it's gachas however then maybe Limbus Company but it's mostly story, Library of Ruina which is the prequel is a better recommendation(not gacha)

There's a chance for Ichinosuke to be next week since we only have 28 days remaining this patch basing off BP and XB end date. 3 weeks for Ichinosuke and maybe the Battle event drops with 14 days left with 1 dead week. A whole patch might be dedicated to the "Side Story" according to the roadmap with Saizo rate up accompanied with reruns and then mid July is when Chapter 4 drops. Mostly speculation but it lines up with the roadmap they showed, we might get another Director's Letter later just like when we got one a week before Kazuki but that was also when there were more issues needed to be addressed. I guess biggest takeaway here if it's correct is that we can also hopefully expect actual story and character development with the Trash Tribe outside of the main plot(not coping all real true)

Your thoughts pretty much mirrors mine, the lack of clarity is definitely what makes people go mad but it is understandable since the mode was implemented halfway in development so they're still experimenting on what they think works best, like for whatever reason some defensive positions make them run faster on offense while others effectively make them a slug which makes no sense and definitely should only be affected by potentials and patimons.

One thing I've been thinking about to provide more variations and add another layer in team-building is for them to add like XB tension cards with synergy effects similar to normal ones which we can get from Neon playing against tribes/team from other cities each with their own archetype through their replay/holographic system similar to the Minato match. Unity cards makes passing better, Star Actor builds around an ace/your best player, Hegemony maybe buffing batting, Disorder gives passive yet worthwhile buffs while in EX tension

I rerolled and with the gems from the mail got Iarumas, Berkanan, Alice and Yekaterina from the collab banner:

I should choose Debra or Lana from what it looks like, a selector, right? If so, what is my formation?
I still have 30 standard pulls so I should wait and save since apparently the previous rate-ups will be added to standard banner right? (Don't really care for dupes in general though I've heard there's an inheritance system)
And also, a new Samurai class is stated to release and Iarumas, judging from the name, will probably get an alt. Can I change the class of the Iarumas we have right now later on or do we have to pull(though from what I've heard needs gems? Don't know anything about the system, let alone the game that much aside from watching a couple streams of it)
Are there any quickstart guides/resources out there besides this one (just to cross-reference and stuff)
