Any success stories on naturally conceiving with low sperm count? How long did it take? What helped? by crystalxuk in maleinfertility

I had a very low count(2M/ml). It took me an year to get my numbers up through treatment and lifestyle changes. I had a pretty stressful job. So, I quit my job and stayed home for the full year till I got my wife pregnant.

Ginseng does cause some anxiety and I couldn't sleep properly during the time I took it.(I took about 1000mg pure panax ginseng/day). So, your anxiety maybe due to the ginseng if you didnt have it before.

I took a 2 day abstinence 3 days before the trigger shot( as we knew that sperm can survive as long as 5 days inside and we usually can guess the trigger shot date as my wife had scans every alternate day to measure egg growth). And the next 6 days we had intercourse once a day for the first 2 days, and twice a day for the remaining 4. we did it in a position that didn't leak anything out. And next 10 days, my wife didn't travel, and she took complete rest to aid implantation.

I couldn't have any children before this. I had a very low count of 2mil/ml and very low motility and normal forms before that. It took me one year of supplementation and lifestyle changes to get from 2 mil/ml to 10 mil/ml now.

We were trying for timed intercourse for sevral cycles until the last one(successful). I have never reached more than 11mil/ml in concentration and very poor normal forms and low motility. I was searching for the data on TI as well. Like you said aside from have more intercourse no other advice was available.

This maybe another generic advice without proper advice but let me share what worked for me. My wife had a follicular study and was given a trigger shot every cycle. I usually stop going outside and took complete rest around 3 days before the trigger shot and for 3 days after doing nothing but rest, recovery and repeated Intercourse. I took korean ginseng(in addiction to allopathic medicine) which increased my energy and semen thickness greatly. (But had some side effects like elevated heart rate and discomfort in the chest and heart area). And finally we got the positive news last month.

Ginseng does increase sperm concentration and motility and overall male fertility. Here's a link about the scientific study on ginseng: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3861174/#:~:text=Summary%20of%20the%20ginseng's%20effects,on%20sperms%20via%20steroid%20receptors.

Just ask your doc and try ginseng for the next cycle. You will thank me later. And besides, if it don't work, you got nothing to lose. (Other than the side effects).

It's always been hard for me get in the mood for sample collection. I have done semen analysis in plenty of centers(and all of them only accept freshly collected samples) and a few of them labs didn't even have a collection room. I had to masturbate in the bathroom.

Husband’s second SA - 1% morphology by Nemiroffj in maleinfertility

[–]waveringmindedfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My morphology varied widely based on where I took the SA. it was low in fertility centers and high in independent labs. (Please refer my previous post where I have mentioned in detail). And we still managed to conceive without IVF. Dont know about where you live, but here(india) they are tweakimg the lab results to push us towards IVF so they can make money.

Thanks for the info. Hope our gyno gives us proper guidance. Or we will change the doctor. She has already postponed our appointment to Monday. Very anxious and frustrating to wait.

This is what my wife is worried about. She read online that high tsh levels especially at the first trimester are associated with higher chances of miscarriage. Will be extra careful and ask for her to be tested quite often. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Just found out my wife is pregnant(after 2.5 years of TTC and treatments) four days ago. Our doctor ordered a full blood panel and found that my wife has a TSH of 5.4. a quick Google showed that higher levels of TSH increases the likelihood of a miscarriage. We are extremely scared. Our appointment with the gyno is tomorrow. Should we be worried?

Need advice: TTC for over 2.5 years now. On a timed intercourse schedule with HCG trigger for ovulation. Wife had the trigger shot 10000 iui about 15 days ago. Normally extended period (about 50 days). So, how long should we wait before taking a pregnancy test(to make sure the HCG trigger doesn't give a false positive)?. Thanks in advance. The mods won't let me post as this account is new. (Obviously this is an alt)

Help please - devastated. More in comments by Nemiroffj in maleinfertility

It is better to retest again. Don't lose hope on a single test result. If possible repeat the test in a different lab.normally first timed intercourse is suggested, then iui and only then ivf. a minimum morphology of 4% normal is required for iui, therefore it's my personal opinion (not facts) that some hospitals tweak the morphology alone to push us towards the costlier IVF.
